Legendary Librarian System
Chapter 37: Liu Wei’s Identification
CHAPTER 37: LIU WEI’S IDENTIFICATION
As Liu Wei was thinking how to return to the kingdom, he suddenly thought of a bold idea and grinned.
He mumbled, "I can just use the Princess. Surely, she will allow me, right?"
The System snorted.
[You really should have asked her before.]
Liu Wei sighed.
He shook his head and replied, "Yeah, but there’s no point dwelling on the past. At the very least, I can just ask the guards if they will ask for my identification to call the Princess and say my name, requesting to verify my identity.
In addition, if I don’t have identification in the kingdom, the library doesn’t have the permission to establish, too, right?"
The System said in a displeased tone.
[What? Do you expect me to handle such a trivial matter?]
Liu Wei was taken aback.
His tone went louder.
"What do you mean by trivial matter?! If the kingdom discovers it, we will be doomed!"
The System replied in an indifferent tone.
[Not really. The kingdom’s strongest is only at the Core Formation Stage. If they try to attack the library, they better be prepared.]
Liu Wei was surprised and chuckled.
He heaved a sigh of relief.
"Still, we must avoid inviting enemies at all costs. We still can’t afford to fight against a kingdom. After all, we won’t be getting a customer!"
[You are just afraid that your physique will awaken and you will lose control.]
Liu Wei opened his mouth and was about to say something but closed it in the end.
After all, he could not retort.
He might really lose himself and commit a killing spree, giving a way for the physique to finally awaken and release all of its seal to possess him entirely.
...
The sun already went past the peak of the mountain, illuminating every part of the city.
Since it’s still early in the morning, there were barely any group of people lining up in front of the gate to enter the kingdom.
After all, with the Blazing Wall Array, it would be pretty much impossible for an unorthodox cultivator to enter.
Nevertheless, just to intensify the security, the kingdom imposed an order of no identification, no entry.
It was to assure the citizens, especially in the capital city of the kingdom, that the security was tight and their taxes would not be wasted.
Even if no one told Liu Wei about the order, he would not be surprised there was such a strict order.
When he arrived at the gate, there were only two carriages lining up the gate, while the rest were peole—most of them were rogue cultivators.
At first, Liu Wei thought of sneaking inside the carriage.
However, he was not surprised to notice the guards, asking the coachman, while the other guards checked the contents thoroughly.
So, he would easily be exposed and might imprison him without hesitation.
Hence, he had fully decided on his strategy earlier.
Like any other, he lined up and was lining behind a rogue cultivator, who practiced the Dao of the Sword.
The rogue cultivator spared him a glance and seemed to be unbothered.
But his eyes accidentally glanced at Liu Wei’s scabbard and his eyes skipped a beat when he saw the hilt of the sword.
He immediately tried to glance forward and went into deep contemplation.
Such a fine sword. Despite his ordinary appearance, no doubt he is wealthy and possibly a genius given his age and cultivation level.
Hence, he did not bother anymore with Liu Wei and continued minding his own business.
Liu Wei smiled at his actions and mumbled, "Good choice."
The rogue’s cultivator’s hair stood on ends.
He broke into sweats.
For some reason, despite Liu Wei’s calm tone, his words sent a shiver down his spine.
He could feel his killing intent oozing from him.
He took a deep breath and tried his jelly legs to remain standing.
Liu Wei was amused by his subtle action and shook his head.
It seems that my killing intent has improved before. But it’s still far from attaining the Minor Completion Stage.
Liu Wei was not in a hurry.
He was already satisfied by his achievements—practicing all the sword techniques he learned as they were finally all recognized by the System.
At the moment, what he had to worry about was getting his identification.
Soon, it was his turn and he scrutinized the guards.
They wore the same design, but still a bit different, with the Princess’ guard’s armor.
Despite the Princess’ guard trying to hide herself with the cloak, Liu Wei was able to spot her armor and managed to engrave the design in his mind.
Obviously, there were rankings in the guards.
The guards glanced at him with stern expression.
Liu Wei was not surprised.
He commended how serious they were in their job, despite being a guard was a bit tedious.
The guard on his left simply extended his hand, as though he was asking for something.
Liu Wei smiled and bowed a bit.
"I’m sorry, I currently don’t have an identification. However, I am acquainted with Princess Jin Xuelin. You can ask her, tell my name—Liu Wei—as I’ll wait for her confirmation."
The guard narrowed their eyes, staring at Liu Wei intensely, trying to intimidate him.
They then looked at each other and nodded.
They realized Liu Wei was not lying and only denying him might cost them their job.
Although the castle would take a minute to reach by horse and finding the princess might take some time more, since Liu Wei himself stated he could wait with them, they did not hesitate to give it a try.
The guard on the right then turned around and walked towards his horse, jumping towards it immediately.
And set off without hesitation.
Liu Wei then walked and stood to where the guard previously stood, and the other guard stared at him with a weird expression.
Liu Wei simply smiled at him and said, "I can be his replacement. Tell me what to do."
The guard was then surprised and nodded.
He replied, "Nothing. Just don’t leave your position and wait patiently."
Liu Wei nodded. "That’s easy."
Then, Liu Wei did as he said.
...
Meanwhile, the guard reached the castle a minute later and then informed the other guard of his intention.
The other guard then led him to where the Princess could be found.
It was already known to every guard that the Princess worked hard in her martial arts, spending most of her time in the training grounds.
In fact, she had been sleeping there for the past couple of days.
Her dedication ignited the guards’ passion to cultivate their martial arts whenever they had time, increasing the crowds every day.
As usual, the Princess had not eaten breakfast yet but she was already hitting the target for half an hour already.
Her maid was not present, still preparing for her breakfast.
Sun Chan had her own matters, too.
So, she was currently alone.
However, her practice was interrupted as the guard patiently stood beside her.
She was a bit annoyed and asked in a chilling tone, "What is it?"
The guard bowed deeply and did not beat around the bush.
"An unidentified person named Liu Wei claimed to know you, asking for confirmation as he was attempting to enter the kingdom."
The Princess was taken aback.
She gazed at the guard beside her, who was still bowing his head.
She was a bit irritated and said, "What are you waiting for, then? Grab a horse and lead me there!"
The guard was deeply startled and immediately raised his head in a daze.
It was the first time he heard the Princess panicking.
When she saw the Princess’s face, confirming she was indeed panicking, he was awakened from his daze and immediately turned around, ran forward.
However, the Princess exclaimed, "Run faster! Is this how fast you can do? Should I revoke your license then for slacking off your physical ability?"
The guard was surprised and went serious.
He did not hold back anymore, uncaring if the Princess could keep up or not and dashed forward.
He could still feel the presence of the Princess—indeed, able to keep up with him as they reached the exit of the training ground, where horses awaited them.
He knew there was no time to call for the Princess’ personal horse as he simply grabbed one and waited for the Princess to ride the other.
They then proceeded towards the gate, where he led the Princess to the man he was now deeply curious about.
He tried to recall his first impression of the young man.
He must really be an important person to make the Princess panic. I mean, it’s normal. He might be her lover. After all, with such a handsome face and a monstrous cultivation level, it would be difficult to attract a woman’s heart despite wearing ordinary clothes.
But, why does he not have an identification?
As much as how deeply curious he was, he kept it to himself.
He even almost led the Princess in the wrong direction, absorbed by his contemplation...
