Chapter 43: Liu Wei Of The Past
CHAPTER 43: LIU WEI OF THE PAST
Liu Wei frowned.
He tried his best to calm his nerves, acting as composed as he could.
He asked in a solemn tone, "Who are you? It was not you who called me."
The two pairs of crimson eyes were taken aback.
The baby’s voice giggling echoed in the room.
A wind swooshed, suddenly lighting up torches one after another, sticking on the wall.
The baby finally revealed itself...
It was sitting inside a small wooden home attached to the wall.
Based on its design, it seemed to be an altar, and the baby was sitting inside atop the throne...
Liu Wei’s eyes squinted and was taken aback by the design of the throne.
It was mountains of bones, and the top was where the baby suddenly stood up and descended into the throne.
It then sat on the edge of the altar, swinging its legs from time to time.
It stared at Liu Wei with an amused expression.
It said, "You are quite dumb, aren’t you? What you heard was your voice. Do you think you have a baby’s voice?"
Liu Wei was taken aback.
He narrowed his eyes and speculated.
System?
However, there was no way it was the System.
After all, he believed that the System’s mocking was more impactful than the baby.
Liu Wei sighed and replied.
"Aren’t you dumber? My voice invited me to enter this place and you were the one who welcomed me, wasn’t it normal to assume it was you?"
The baby exploded into the hoot of laughter as it then shrugged.
It said, "You’ve got quite a tongue. Anyway, do you want to know who called you?"
Liu Wei rolled his eyes and said, "I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t intend to meet him in the first place. Tell me, where is he? Do you hold him captive?"
The baby shrugged and replied, "I should throw that question right back at you."
Liu Wei was surprised.
I was right. He is still alive.
He thought.
The baby said, "I have a question."
Liu Wei did not reply and simply stared at the baby.
The baby grinned and asked, "Who are you? The voice you heard was the original owner of the body. I’m certain of that.
Where did you come from? How did you even replace him in the first place? Your soul is very strong."
Liu Wei’s expression did not change, as though he already expected the question.
He asked, "I won’t answer you. Isn’t it the basic courtesy to answer my question first before I answer yours?"
The baby guffawed and replied, "Well, I don’t mind revealing myself. I’m really itching to know about you.
As you have guessed, I am the consciousness of the Demonheart Origin Body. I am in this form since the first crack is the only unsealed yet.
If it was the consciousness of the original body, I would have long possessed it, but with you and the mysterious entity behind you, it was impossible.
Even in the future."
Liu Wei continued to stare at him without a sudden change of expression.
The baby continued, "Of course, you are not worried that I’m inhabiting your secondary mind. Once your secondary mind learns a cultivation technique, a bit too strong in this world for some reason, my control will be more limited."
The baby’s expression suddenly turned serious as it continued, "However, be careful. If the chances are slim at the moment, there will be a single split second that a door will open for me and I won’t hesitate to run towards the exit and be free."
Liu Wei stared at him in nonchalance and shrugged.
"Thank you for your reminder, then."
The baby replied, "It’s your turn now."
Liu Wei ruminated.
I guess, it’s not bad to reveal some of my secrets. This demon is inside my body, to begin with. Also, it feels bad to go back on my words.
A minute later, Liu Wei asked, "To be honest, I died and suddenly woke up in this body. I’m not in this world, obviously, my world is far advanced."
He turned silent, letting the baby ask, "far advanced? Do you mean you were from the immortal world?"
"Immortal?" Liu Wei tilted his head.
He recalled the time China has been progressing in technology.
They were able to modify the people’s genes and increased their lifespan.
If that is the case, as we were moving towards the era of immortality, I can’t deny that I was in the immortal world.
Liu Wei nodded after some time and said, "If you put it that way."
The baby’s eyes widened.
It laughed and said, "I don’t doubt your words."
Before it was able to continue, a knock echoed on the door.
Liu Wei was startled, perceiving his heart racing.
The baby laughed at his reaction and said, "He was now calling you, Immortal. You better meet him."
Liu Wei did not bother with him anymore and instantly turned around, walking towards the door.
He opened the door and what he saw outside made him freeze.
There was a person standing in front of him.
He anticipated who it would be, but he did not expect his appearance.
He thought he would be staring at the mirror.
But no.
No, more like, he was staring at the mirror...
In the mirror inside his room in the past.
Correct, the appearance of the original owner of the body did not take his actual appearance, but Liu Wei’s appearance before his transmigration.
Liu Wei, or should it be known as Liu Wei of the Past given by his current form, stared at him with a mocking smile.
Liu Wei’s expression turned grave.
He asked in a grumbling tone, "What is the meaning of this?"
Liu Wei of the Past exploded into a hoot of laughter and said, "You looked pathetic, weren’t you? So, was that the reason you possessed my body?"
Liu Wei frowned and clucked his tongue in annoyance.
"How delusional for you to think your body was any better than mine? I worked hard to make it handsome as you were ugly as fuck. Your body was vulnerable to sickness and was fatter. If I died and was given a chance to choose which body I should possess, I would certainly not choose this pitiful one."
Liu Wei of the past was enraged.
He pounced at Liu Wei and strangled his neck.
Liu Wei did not budge.
Obviously, the physical prowess of Liu Wei in the past compared to Liu Wei at the present was negligible.
Even while he was being strangled, Liu Wei did not even bother defending himself, just tightening his neck, enough to resist Liu Wei of the Past’s grasps.
Liu Wei of the Past was aware of how pitiful his strength was, but it still strangled Liu Wei to his heart’s content.
He screamed, "You took away my life! You took away everything from me! I know your past. I know who you are. You were not immortal. You were just a pathetic person born from a wealthy family.
A pathetic person who decided to live an ordinary life when he is fated to become more successful.
A life that I always dreamed of."
Liu Wei grabbed his arms and said, "I did not take away your life. You’re soon about to die anyway. A demon resides within you and will slowly take you over.
And I’m not pathetic, I simply chose where my heart wanted to.
Unlike you, who always dreamed and dreamed, not accepting the fact that your environment already decided your fate.
That you died as a pathetic, worthless person as you chose to be."
Then, Liu Wei slowly pulled his arms away from him and threw him at the side.
Liu Wei glanced at him coldly and continued, "You chose that appearance, believing that would affect me greatly.
You are wrong.
I did not die full of regrets.
That I did not hesitate to take a risk and sacrifice everything just to pursue my dream.
That alone already made me live to my fullest moment.
While you, you always seek this and that.
As if the future is decided by your hand.
When you are just a dreamer who doesn’t even use your hands to mold it to reality.
Waiting for lady luck to bless you.
The world doesn’t work like that, Liu Wei.
The world is not kind to those who simply dream.
Work hard and fight against the world.
But you are already dead."
Liu Wei of the Past could not retort and simply laid on the ground, growling at Liu Wei.
Liu Wei stood beside him and suddenly raised his foot, stopping it above Liu Wei of the past’s face.
Liu Wei said, "And you have chosen this form because you don’t have a choice. You can only choose between two forms of the past.
You can’t choose the form I have worked hard for until the present.
And that made you weak.
And you will remain weak and pathetic, until your soul is erased.
I will make sure of that."
Without hesitation, he stomped his feet, crushing Liu Wei of the Past’s head, spilling blood everywhere.
Skin, muscles, and bones spread and even glued to his shoes and leather pants.
However, Liu Wei was unbothered.
His face remained indifferent, even though he had just killed himself...
His past.
He was silent for a while and then chuckled.
"I wonder if that was how I was crushed by the truck."
"Truck?"
The baby’s voice echoed behind him, startling him from his daze.
Liu Wei took a step back and gazed at the baby.
The baby stared at him for a while and then glanced at the headless body of Liu Wei of the past.
It said, "Pathetic, isn’t it?"
Liu Wei snorted.
"Which are you referring to?"
The baby glanced at him in surprise and grinned.
"Both."
