CHAPTER 1290: CHAPTER 1289: THE REASON FOR BURNING
Wow! Just as he thought, the black quicksand beneath was getting hotter. Now, it just caught fire out of nowhere. If Xiu Yan hadn’t grabbed him and run fast, he would probably have turned into a piece of fragrant roast meat.
Does this thing ignite on its own?
Didn’t Shaman Ji Nuan say that the black quicksand couldn’t be lit with a fire seed?
As the two orcs emerged from the predicament, Xiu Yan flew towards the shore with Casa. The sudden ignition of the black quicksand meant that their initial plan to crawl over was no longer viable.
Meanwhile, Ji Nuan and the other orcs were startled by the sudden flames on the black quicksand. The roaring fire even caused occasional explosions here and there, making several loud bangs that frightened the orcs.
Many chunks of black quicksand were blasted onto the shore.
Falling into the sand, they continued to burn, and after a while, they turned the surrounding sand black.
"Shaman Ji Nuan, are Casa and the others okay?" Harry approached, limited by an ordinary orc’s vision, they couldn’t see that far.
Ji Nuan nodded: "Don’t worry, they left the black quicksand before it ignited. They should be on their way back now."
Just as she finished speaking, Xiu Yan dragged Casa back to the shore.
"How is it, Casa, are you injured?" Harry suddenly rushed over to check Casa’s wounds, making the orc uncomfortable. He dodged a few times: "It’s nothing. When the black quicksand started to heat up, we were already flying in the sky."
Meanwhile, Ji Nuan fell into silence. Why did the black quicksand suddenly ignite?
Xiu Yan came to her side: "It wasn’t spontaneous combustion. Earlier, there was a lot of white gas escaping from the surface, likely dispersed by the rising temperature, but we didn’t pay attention.
Looking back, that must have been the smoke released as the black quicksand heated up."
Xiu Yan’s explanation suddenly reminded Ji Nuan of something. She picked up a piece of black quicksand that was thrown on the ground and quickly headed toward the tent.
"Everyone, go back to your tents and rest."
After speaking, she went into the tent, and Xiu Yan followed closely behind her.
Harry sighed: "Orcs from both teams, take turns guarding and stay alert to the surroundings."
"Casa, you should go back and rest for a bit too, and recover your strength."
Inside the tent, Ji Nuan dug a hole in the sand, and when Xiu Yan entered and saw this, he immediately took over: "Do you need to start a fire?"
Ji Nuan’s eyes gleamed with restrained excitement as she nodded: "Light it up."
The fire in the pit burned brightly. Ji Nuan then gently placed the pieces of black quicksand she had brought back into it.
"Nuannuan, we tested this before, didn’t we? This black quicksand can’t be ignited." Xiu Yan said with a frown.
Ji Nuan smiled at him cheerfully: "No, I now suspect that the reason we couldn’t ignite it before was just because we didn’t heat it long enough."
Hearing this, Xiu Yan quietly sat beside Ji Nuan, and an eerie silence enveloped the tent.
Suddenly, the eyes of both beasts lit up simultaneously; the chunk of black quicksand in the fire pit was now burning.
Xiu Yan picked up some wood to throw into the fire, but Ji Nuan stopped him with her hand: "Brother Xiu Yan, don’t put the wood in just yet."
