CHAPTER 36: AN EXPECTED ATTACK

An Expected Attack

Alex looked at the stone Tiffany was holding and the orb floating around it.

"What are these items? If I may ask?" Alex asked, curiosity in his eyes.

"You’re from the association and you don’t know about a class change stone? Are you sure your ID badge isn’t fake?"

Not wanting to waste time on Rouke’s implications, Sarah decided to answer Alex while Tiffany finished her business.

"That is a class change stone, the guild has a gigantic one in its HQ, for us in the guild we only get a single-use stone purchased from the guild for a significant amount"

Sarah gave Tiffany a look before continuing.

"I believe you bumped into our guild’s vice-leader at the hunters’ association when she and Miss Tiffany were going to buy some."

Alex remembered the day he and his sisters crossed paths at the hunters’ association, their casual and random encounters, after all, had a purpose, Sarah continued explaining.

"That thing floating is some kind of space device. We don’t know much about it. All we know so far is that the spider queen used it to get to this dungeon from somewhere she originated."

Alex was shocked by the revelation.

"So the queen and her spiders don’t belong in this dungeon? And what is Tiffany going to do with this thing?"

Sarah sighed at hearing such questions.

"You’re a bit slow sometimes . If she’s using a class change stone combined with a powerful item, you can’t figure it out? Or didn’t you learn about classes in the hunters’ association? I thought it was the basics of training new agents."

Alex could only sigh internally. He was a complete newbie, he hadn’t had any agent training yet. How long had he been a member of the association? Two days? How would he know such things?

Not to mention that he had been in this parallel reality for less than a month, and most of the time he spent here was inside a police station cell, thanks to Tiffany, I might add.

Alex didn’t know much about the world, he still had to learn a lot about the world and everything it tells, everything about hunters and related things, after rescuing his sister, Alex would have to study a lot to avoid these types of situations.

"I’m done," Tiffany said, jumping with joy. Alex saw the object transform into two blue fans orbiting Tiffany.

"Did you manage to extract a class from the orb?" Sarah and Rouke asked questions at the same time, both of them looking quite expectant.

"Yes, I did."

The two approached, murmuring to each other in secret, seeing that it was something that only the guild should know, Alex decided not to peek, a moment later the discussion was over.

"My level was stuck at 25, now that I have a class, I can level again" Tiffany said with undisguised joy, when she arrived at the dungeon, she was level 19, she leveled up to 25 and got stuck not leveling anymore.

"We can go now, right?" Alex asked somewhat hurriedly, he had to take care of his sister and he had already spent a lot of time inside the dungeon.

"Sure, let’s go straight to the spider queen’s cave," Rouke said, his eyes burning with battle lust. He turned to Tiffany and said promptly.

"Miss Tiffany, you will have to learn your skills in battle, it is a bit difficult and risky, but class skills are generally quite intuitive, you will know when to use them" Tiffany nodded in response.

"Is their queen in there?" Alex asked as he saw a simple cave that was just north of the forest. It took them almost two hours to get to this place even though they had run straight to the place.

"Yes, the queen is in there."

"I thought there would be tons of mutant spiders guarding the place, but it looks so deserted."

"The mutant spiders are spread throughout the forest, they are most likely looking for us or something else, but they are not emanating, the most ferocious spiders are there inside guarding and protecting their queen."

"Is everyone ready?" Rouke asked giving everyone a resolute look, after this point there would be no turning back.

Tiffany, Sarah, and Alex took a deep breath and with one voice, they responded.

"We are ready"

"Alright, this is the strategy we’re going to follow. I’ll focus most of the enemy attacks on myself and take care of defense and area damage. You, Miss Tiffany, and Alex will be the main attackers. Sarah will take care of everyone’s HP and MP regeneration. Do you understand your roles?"

Everyone nodded in response to Rouke’s instructions, and then they all entered the spider queen’s cave.

As soon as everyone entered and passed through the first corridor, they came across several hideous figures waiting for them.

"Brother, didn’t I tell you? There was no need for us to go after them as the queen ordered, humans were nothing more than rats."

Another figure calmly applauded while giving what appeared to be a smile, however, the figure’s jaws did not allow such an act.

"Of course, brother, it was wise to trust your words, just as you said, they are here."

A short figure that was easily distinguishable from the others slowly approached and asked the others in a hoarse, aged voice.

"Now that the lesser creatures have arrived, who has the honor of capturing them and presenting them to the queen?" The owner of the voice paused to glance at his brothers and us lesser humans before continuing.

"Brothers, there are only four of these inferior creatures, and we, the most worthy, are 10. Which of us will have the pleasure of pleasing our queen? How do we resolve this dilemma? My dear brothers."

The creatures were golden, their entire body was covered in a pure golden color, from afar, their bodies were similar to humans, that is if you ignore, not only their colors, but also, their enormous mouths that spread to the non-existent ears.

The creatures had four pairs of black eyes that blinked at once, long arms with long claws, in addition to the human legs they used to walk, they had four more coming out of their hatches.

The spider that was a little darker than the others suggested.

"How about we capture them first, then we can decide based on the contribution, what do you say brothers?"

Everyone looked at each other, silently moving towards the intruders.

Alex was new to the world of hunters, but even he doubted there were any monsters more arrogant than the mutant spiders before him.
