CHAPTER 86: NO FUCKIN’ WAY

It was a class skill:

[Limiter Removal]

-This multiplies the user’s capabilities by a number of times.

-The amount of times this can be stacked is dependent on the user’s body limits.

[Warning: The User will experience a rebound on their body after the usage of this skill ends.]

Liam blinked once, then again, the words on his interface seeming almost too good to be true. He struggled to find the right response, his mind racing with the implications. Finally, a single word escaped his lips: "Fuck!" followed immediately by an incredulous "What?!"

The ability didn’t make complete sense to him yet, but the potential was undeniable. It felt like he could keep pushing forward without worrying about who or what stood in his path. A devious smile spread across his face as he spoke to the empty air around him, "See, Grey? I just need to have the strength to back up my shit! That’s all!"

With the skill review complete, it was time for the mystery boxes as Liam rubbed both palms together in anticipation, hoping for something worthwhile. The last mystery box had given him the item that saved Yaela from death’s grip—what could this one hold?

He clicked on his Mystery Boxes, starting with the oldest one that had become automatically accessible at Player Level 7.

[Key to the Sanctuary of the King]

"Huh? A key?" Liam’s face fell with disappointment as the mystery box opened to reveal what appeared to be an ordinary key. Although, this key had this vintage-style look, antique finish with golden-brown color.

He picked it up from his inventory, and another system message appeared.

[Key to the Sanctuary of the King]

-Gives the user access to Private Space.

The frown on his face instantly vanished, and was replaced by genuine excitement. "Now ain’t that something," he said with a growing smile. Finally, he would be able to see where his summons resided when not called upon.

He almost moved on without checking the other mystery boxes, expecting them to remain locked until he reached higher levels, as the previous ones had. But the side of his eye caught something, it was one of the mystery box icons was glowing, indicating it was accessible.

"That’s new for sure," he said as he clicked on the open box.

A notification screen then materialized.

[Inventory Upgrade Token Available]

"Oh, that’s new for sure," Liam repeated, his surprise was very much evident. "Didn’t know you could upgrade that." He then glanced at the final mystery box icon, which remained sealed and unresponsive. When he clicked on it, the expected message appeared.

[Mystery Box unavailable until level 10]

"Typical," he said, shaking his head with resigned amusement. However, he decided to use the inventory upgrade token immediately.

[Do you wish to upgrade your Inventory?]

[Yes/No]

He selected [Yes], and the upgrade process began.

[Inventory upgrade completed successfully]

[Upgrades]:

-Reconfig: System is able to reconstruct two or more items together into a single whole

-The new item will gain the capabilities of both items

-User can also select what form the item takes

-User is only limited to reconfig of two items

[Warning: Time it takes for item reconfig to complete is dependent on the ranks of the items. During this period, player is unable to access the item.]

[Warning: Reconfig only applies to weapons.]

"This is just beautiful!" Liam exclaimed, his excitement building with each new revelation. The system continued to surprise him, and he already had specific weapons in mind for reconstruction, though that would have to wait to do that much later.

Finally, his attention turned to the skill upgrade tokens at the bottom of his player stats. These had recently become one of his favorite rewards, especially after the impressive results from upgrading his Unity Weaving skill.

Feeling adventurous, he decided to use another token on the same skill, curious about what further improvements might be possible.

A system prompt appeared:

[Do you want to Upgrade the skill → Unity Weaving?]

[Yes/No]

He clicked [Yes], and another message materialized.

[Unity Weaving upgraded to Lv. Max]

[Upgrades]:

-Player can now share his "level" with his summons

-The Summon may not be as strong as the player but will continually rise in ranks each time the player levels up

[Warning: Sharing one’s level comes with a tremendous amount of mana and stamina drain.]

"No fucking way!" Liam yelled, his voice echoing as if he’d just won the lottery. "What the fuck?!" This had to be the biggest surprise yet. The implications were staggering—his summons would grow stronger alongside him, ensuring his army wouldn’t fall behind as they faced increasingly powerful enemies.

He noticed the warning about mana drain and nodded with understanding. "I mean, it’s only fair," he said with an amused shrug, but the excitement was still coursing through him.

Looking at his remaining skill upgrade token, he decided to save it for later. "I’ll keep you for later," he said, having reached maximum satisfaction from the recent upgrade.

Then taking a deep breath, Liam materialized the sanctuary key, and a system notification appeared immediately.

[Any part of the world is a door. Slot this key into anywhere you want and a portal to Private Space will open.]

"Hm..." he muttered, trying to understand exactly what the system meant. Deciding to go with the most straightforward interpretation, he held the key up in front of him, and instantly, space began to contort around the key, red energy sparks crackling and dancing in the air.

A crimson portal materialized before him, its edges pulsing with magical energy. Liam looked at it with a satisfied grin, then slowly stepped forward and walked directly into the portal. The moment he crossed the threshold, the portal’s opening sealed shut behind him, leaving no trace of his passage.

...

The clock on Grey’s office wall ticked past nine in the evening, its steady rhythm the only sound breaking the tense silence that had settled over the room. Grey had just ended his call with Lucien, and then set his phone down.

Across from him, was Kent who stood rigid before the mahogany desk, his expectant gaze fixed on his director, waiting for the instructions he had gotten from over the phone
