"Mother, are they our enemies?"

Seeing the hostile intent of the newcomers, Ling Chen’s expression also turned serious.

"Enemies?" The man in black shook his head and sneered, "Young lad, by generation, you should call me Uncle."

"Enough with the nonsense. I can go with you, but on one condition."

Liu Xiling’s expression was indifferent as she pointed her slender finger at Ling Chen and Xia Yunxin. "You are not to harm these two. Liu Feng, if you agree to this, I will leave with you immediately."

"Heh, Ling’er, what are you saying?" The man named Liu Feng grinned. "He’s my nephew. How could I possibly kill him? You think too little of me."

Hearing this, Liu Xiling remained silent. She knew this man before her was a cold-blooded killer. Regardless of whether Ling Chen was his actual nephew, this man would not hesitate to strike a killing blow.

"Let’s go, Miss Ling’er," the black-robed elder urged expressionlessly.

"Let me say a few words to Chen’er." Liu Xiling turned and walked to Ling Chen’s side.

"Mother, who exactly are these two, and where are you going with them?" Ling Chen couldn’t help but ask, glancing from a distance at Liu Feng and the black-robed elder.

"The Nine Provinces." After a moment’s hesitation, Liu Xiling finally answered Ling Chen, "Both my family and your father’s family are there."

"What?" Ling Chen’s eyes widened in shock. His parents weren’t from the Five Kingdoms, but from the mysterious Nine Provinces Land?

"The Liu Family and the Ling Family are premier Sage Sects in the Nine Provinces, wielding significant influence. Their power is beyond imagination. Remember this: do not set foot in the Nine Provinces, and especially do not come looking for me, until your cultivation reaches the Sky Apex Realm."

Liu Xiling’s tone was very grave as she admonished Ling Chen.

Ling Chen nodded grimly. The Nine Provinces Land was vast and indistinct, home to Sage Sects of unimaginable power. Even his mother, Liu Xiling, couldn’t stand against them, let alone him.

"Damn it!" Ling Chen watched helplessly as Liu Xiling was taken away, frustration and anger churning within him. His already severely injured body shuddered violently from the overwhelming emotions, triggering a harsh coughing fit. The black-robed elder had said that if Liu Xiling hadn’t so brazenly attacked the Sky Void Palace, she wouldn’t have been discovered. In other words, if it weren’t for him, Liu Xiling wouldn’t be in this predicament.

"Don’t blame yourself. Master knew she couldn’t stay in the Five Kingdoms much longer. They would have found her sooner or later; it was only a matter of time," Xia Yunxin comforted him gently.

"Regardless, this is partly my fault, and I must save my mother." Ling Chen shook his head. If not for him, they wouldn’t have been separated like this.

"I believe you’ll be capable of it eventually." Xia Yunxin nodded. "But before then, we need to leave quickly. Master said before she left that we must depart from here immediately."

"We mustn’t delay. Let’s go!" Ling Chen nodded. Liu Feng was an expert at the Seventh Realm of Sky Apex or higher. If that man found them, they would undoubtedly die.

The two immediately fled the camp. As long as they escaped this area, they would be relatively safe.

However, they had only traveled a few miles when a tremendously powerful aura suddenly appeared before them, blocking their path.

The shadowy figure that appeared before them was none other than Liu Feng, who had supposedly left earlier.

"Where is my mother?" Ling Chen asked warily. There was definitely something wrong with this man.

"Ling’er and the elder have gone on ahead. She said she wasn’t at ease leaving you alone, so she asked me to bring you too. Let’s all go home together," Liu Feng said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

"Nonsense!" Ling Chen’s eyes turned cold. "My mother is meticulous. How could she say something so contradictory? Liu Feng, what are you really up to?"

"Heh, quite the clever little brat, aren’t you?" Liu Feng’s pupils constricted slightly, then he chuckled. "I originally intended to let you die painlessly. It seems that’s no longer an option. You little bastard, a stain on our family’s bloodline! Today, I’ll eliminate you."

At these words, the expressions of both Ling Chen and Xia Yunxin changed drastically. This man had indeed come to kill them!
