Chapter 131: Fighting Evil with Evil
CHAPTER 131: CHAPTER 131: FIGHTING EVIL WITH EVIL
When Stella Grant received Silas Sutton’s message, it was already early the next morning.
It wasn’t about whether she could sleep; it was about her having already woken up.
Stella stared at the phone screen for a few seconds and finally decided not to reply.
She had already made her point clear. He was talking about personal matters, and she had the right not to respond.
In matters of the heart, ambiguity and tangled emotions are the most dangerous.
Seeing Stella put down her phone, Lynn Adler smiled with pursed lips, "Ray Woods?"
Stella looked up, "Hmm?"
Lynn said, "You’ve been back for two days, and I haven’t seen Ray Woods call you. You two didn’t have a fight, did you?"
Stella avoided Lynn’s gaze, "We didn’t fight. He’s also busy with a project recently."
Hearing this, Lynn responded with an ’hmm’, "As long as you didn’t fight."
Afterward, she added, "I think Ray Woods is a good kid, humorous and sincere."
Stella said, "Hmm."
Too bad he’s not your son-in-law.
At eight in the morning, after the doctor’s rounds, Stella went downstairs to buy breakfast.
As soon as she got off the elevator, she bumped into an angrily charging Zeke Adler, who was heading to the elevator.
The two exchanged glances; Stella’s expression was indifferent, while Zeke was furious, with Lily Harrison instigating behind him.
Stella glanced over them, then stepped off the elevator and walked out.
Seeing this, Lily pushed Zeke on the lower back, "Aren’t you going after her? Look at that girl; she didn’t even speak to you, clearly not respecting you as her uncle."
Zeke was already furious, and Lily’s instigation further fueled his anger. He stormed forward and grabbed Stella’s wrist.
Stella had anticipated he would catch up, looked at him with cold eyes, and slightly raised her red lips, "Did you gather the fifty thousand?"
Mentioning the fifty thousand, Zeke’s anger waned slightly. However, he had already discussed with Lily beforehand that they would never admit to the fifty thousand. "What fifty thousand?"
Zeke was just over fifty, having sponged off his parents when young and relied on his age when older. Having never suffered much, he looked much younger than his peers.
Stella squinted slightly at him, "You don’t want to admit it?"
Zeke said, "What admit or not admit? It never happened; you’re just making things up!"
While speaking, Zeke tried to take the upper hand, raising his voice, "Stella Grant, ever since your family had problems, I’ve taken good care of you and your mom, letting you two live in the house left by your grandfather because you had nowhere to go. I even paid for your first year of college. Now that you’re successful, instead of repaying me, you betray my kindness!"
One could tell from Zeke’s speech that he memorized it in advance.
Poor guy, hadn’t even graduated elementary school, yet managed to remember such a long speech to evade debt.
’Good care’ and ’betray my kindness’.
Hearing those words alone, Stella couldn’t help but want to laugh.
Stella mocked lightly, "Are you done talking?"
Zeke intended to overpower Stella with his presence but didn’t expect her not to buy it at all.
He paused, his expression changed slightly, "No wonder Flynn Shepherd would rather be unemployed or get involved with a married woman than be with you. A woman who doesn’t even spare her own uncle..."
Stella retorted, "You actually remember you’re my uncle?"
Zeke was rendered speechless.
The hospital was never short of foot traffic, especially with Zeke’s loud voice, and quite a crowd gathered around to watch.
Stella watched him coldly, saying flatly, "Think it over; if you want to embarrass yourself, I’m game to accompany you."
Zeke held his tongue, still angry.
Stella continued, "Look around in the crowd; there are at least four or five people recording with their phones. If this video gets uploaded and Elliot Adler’s girlfriend’s parents see it, do you think they’d still agree to their daughter marrying Elliot?"
Zeke said, "..."
Stella scoffed, sneering, "After your brother-in-law’s bankruptcy and escape, you embezzled your sister’s and niece’s survival money. When your sister was diagnosed with uremia, you came to seize her property. If you’re not afraid of embarrassment, neither am I. I can say this loudly and let everyone hear it."
As Stella enunciated every word, Zeke’s face turned a shade of dark red.
Beside him, Lily tugged his sleeve, murmuring softly, "Make this damned girl shut up."
Stella retorted, "No need to make me shut up. It’s best if you two head back and gather the money now. If I don’t receive that fifty thousand by midnight tonight, I’ll find a lawyer in the morning, and I mean it."
