CHAPTER 15: CHAPTER 15: THE KIND ARE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF

The leading police officer’s words had barely landed when the man instinctively stepped back.

"I haven’t committed any crime, why are you taking me to the police station?"

"I can sue you for this, don’t think that just because you’re cops you can do whatever you want."

"Taking me away like this ruins my reputation at the company, how am I supposed to work there in the future?"

When people feel guilty, they can’t help but raise their voices.

Trying to use volume to cover up their inner panic.

Seeing the man’s obstinacy, the lead officer signaled to the three officers by his side with an eye gesture.

The three officers understood, stepped forward to forcibly restrain the man, and took him away.

As they exited the planning department, Stella Grant personally pressed the elevator button for the officers.

The lead officer nodded to her, "We may need your cooperation later."

Stella Grant smiled faintly, "Sure."

Watching the officers escort the man into the elevator, Stella Grant tightened the hand hanging by her side slightly as the elevator descended, and turned to walk towards her office.

But before she could enter the project department, her assistant stopped her mid-way.

"Manager Grant, Manager Grant."

Stella Grant halted her steps, "What’s up?"

The assistant’s cheeks flushed, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into, "Mr. Lynch is looking for you."

Stella Grant frowned, "Got it."

After her words, Stella Grant handed her bag to her assistant and took the elevator to Martin Lynch’s office.

When Stella Grant arrived at Martin Lynch’s office, he was venting his anger.

He slammed the desk, making it rattle loudly.

Stella Grant noticed and couldn’t help but commend Omni’s choice of sturdy desks internally.

After slamming the desk, Martin Lynch pointed at Stella Grant, "You, you..."

He pointed in the air twice at Stella Grant, probably realizing this was impolite, retracted his finger while biting his teeth, and put his hands on his hips angrily.

"Stella Grant, can’t you settle down for even one day?"

"The company offered you a high salary to create value, not trouble for us."

"Yes, I admit, you are talented and secured several major projects within months, but even so, you can’t just stir up chaos just because you have some merits."

Martin Lynch had heard of Stella Grant bringing the police to the company as soon as he entered.

Before he could inquire further, an assistant reported the planning department manager had been arrested.

As if one trouble wasn’t enough before another emerged.

He hadn’t even explained yesterday’s scandal video of Stella Grant to the higher-ups, and today there’s a bigger issue.

He deeply felt if this continued, his general manager position may not last till retirement.

Martin Lynch finished speaking and slammed the desk again, "Explain!!"

Stella Grant had anticipated such a scene since reporting to the police this morning, so she was mentally prepared and remained calm.

She stepped forward, took a USB drive from her pocket, and placed it on Martin Lynch’s desk, "Mr. Lynch, you might want to take a look at this first."

Martin Lynch frowned at the USB drive as he glanced at it, "What’s this?"

Seeing he wasn’t moving, Stella Grant took the initiative to plug it into his computer, opened the file, and then turned the screen towards him.

As the video began playing, Martin Lynch’s face grew darker and darker.

By the end of the video, his anger had vanished, leaving only a stern expression.

"Why didn’t you report such an incident to me?"

Stella Grant replied evenly, "Mr. Lynch, this pertains to my personal affairs, and I believed I was fully capable of handling it as I saw fit."

Martin Lynch’s expression turned ashen, "..."

Stella Grant continued, "I indeed created quite a few problems for you recently, and I apologize, but ultimately, it’s not my fault, so I reject the notion of ’victim-blaming’."

Martin Lynch, "..."

Ever since Stella Grant joined, Martin Lynch’s impression of her had consistently been that of being soft outwardly but tough inside, quite capable.

He didn’t expect the usually meticulous Stella Grant to confront him face to face.

With his hands pressed on the desk, Martin Lynch thought about the projects in Stella Grant’s hands, suppressing his dissatisfaction, softened his tone slightly, "After all, letting this kind of thing spread doesn’t bode well for the company."

Stella Grant answered, "That’s exactly why the company should issue a statement condemning Manager Flynn’s misconduct, warning other colleagues with similar thoughts, and preventing such instances from happening again."

After she finished speaking, Stella Grant left Martin Lynch speechless.

The stalemate between them was finally broken by a phone call.

Martin Lynch glanced at the caller ID on the phone screen, his eyes flickered, picked up the phone, and answered with a smile, "President Wright, what made you think of calling me?"

Whatever the other side said, Martin Lynch glanced at Stella Grant while smiling even more broadly, "Yes, yes, Grant works under me, this girl is straightforward, making President Wright laugh."

After speaking, Martin Lynch turned away to continue the call.

The more he talked, the better Martin Lynch’s expression got, by the end of the call, he was all smiles, "Of course, our company supports Grant’s actions; it was even my suggestion for her to call the police."

Standing to the side, Stella Grant, "..."

After hanging up, Martin Lynch turned to look at Stella Grant, pondering for a moment, then with a meaningful smile, asked, "Grant, are you very familiar with President Sutton?"
