Chapter 534 - 26: The Elite Camp’s Trial
CHAPTER 534: CHAPTER 26: THE ELITE CAMP’S TRIAL
More than ten days had passed, and Yun Sheng now stood at the border of Great Zhou City, staring blankly at a notice in her hands.
Passing the Royal Magic Academy’s assessment was an easy feat for her, but what surprised her was that they didn’t directly inform her of the exact location of the Mainland Magic Elite Camp.
They had only given Yun Sheng a location and instructed her to find a Mage named Mo Ge there.
It was said that through this Mage, she would find a way to enter the Mainland Magic Elite Camp.
Following the directions on the notice, Yun Sheng headed westward into Great Zhou.
This was a road she had never traveled before.
However, Tang Yu, that kid, due to his previous exile, had been to this area before.
Yun Sheng had a general idea of the local terrain; it was said to be a Gobi desert dominated by wastelands.
But Yun Sheng hadn’t expected the place to be so desolate.
All around her was a vast expanse of yellow sand, and ahead, a city of the same hue emerged.
If she hadn’t seen it for herself, Yun Sheng would never have imagined that within the relatively affluent borders of Great Zhou City, such a desolate place could exist.
Tang Yu had also been exiled to this vicinity.
Just from this sight, it was evident how much the Yun Residence had fallen from grace.
Being garrisoned at the frontier of Great Zhou by the Military Department as well, the nephew of Marquis Weiyuan got the cushy post next to the Purple Gold Mine, whereas the old troops of Yun Bahe were relegated to such desolate stations.
Fortunately, General Yun had already come to terms with it.
When Yun Sheng arrived outside Yellow Sand City, she saw a garrison soldier nodding off at the city gate.
"Excuse me, brother, could you tell me where Master Mo Ge lives?"
Yun Sheng inquired.
"Mo Ge? Are you referring to the blacksmith in the city? He lives in the run-down house just around the corner," the drowsy soldier muttered, his suspicion aroused upon realizing that the person asking for directions was a young and beautiful female Mage.
This Mo Ge was an old bachelor who had, for some unknown reason, enjoyed a stroke of good fortune, with quite a few elegantly dressed young Mages seeking him out in recent years.
After confirming the direction, Yun Sheng was about to leave.
Just then, she saw two young Mages, handsomely dressed and travel-worn, approaching.
They, like her, were inquiring after the whereabouts of Master Mo Ge.
"Another pair looking for Mo Ge, huh? Look, that girl is heading the same way; follow her and you’ll find Mo Ge," the garrison soldier murmured, closing his eyes to continue his slumber.
The two Mages, a man and a woman, both appeared to be around fifteen or sixteen years old. The girl had a decent countenance, but her somewhat severe eyes somewhat marred her impression on others.
As for the male Mage, he had quite the dignified appearance, and their dresses did not seem to belong to those of the Da Zhou People.
To Yun Sheng, this was not surprising since Mages from Great Zhou were rare, and even fewer were those who could enter the Mainland Magic Elite Camp.
Three years ago, the assessment had admitted three individuals all at once, causing quite a stir across the continent.
The male Mage overheard someone was traveling together and was about to ask when he saw Yun Sheng standing at the city gate.
Upon seeing Yun Sheng’s elf-like face, the male Mage showed a hint of envy in his eyes, and his words started to stumble: "This young lady... are you also heading to the Mainland Magic Elite Camp?"
The appearance of the male Mage made the female Mage beside him somewhat displeased; casting a jealous glance at Yun Sheng’s ethereally beautiful face, she huffed through her nose.
Yun Sheng, however, was used to such reactions. Her face, growing increasingly similar to Hu Jiusheng’s, had indeed brought her quite a bit of trouble along the way.
Most people, after seeing the Token of the Sky Hunting Corps, would run off in utter fear.
After all, within the territory of Great Zhou, the Sky Hunting Corps had a formidable reputation.
However, these two Mages obviously came from another country and could very well end up being colleagues, so Yun Sheng finally opened her mouth: "Indeed, I am a trainee selected by the Dazhou Royal Magic Academy to attend the Mainland Magic Elite Camp, since I received the notice and came here for the first round of assessments."
Each trainee recommended for the Mainland Magic Elite Camp, even if endorsed, still has to pass the first round of assessments.
This round of assessment is mostly carried out by tutors from the Magic Elite Camp, disguised as common folk, scattered across every corner of the continent.
They may seem ordinary, likely to be any elder, woman, or even a child, but if one fails their assessment, entry into the Magic Elite Camp is not granted.
Thus, this round of assessments is also known as the Tutor Assessment.
Each tutor will provide various assessment opportunities, depending on the trainee’s different Magic Attributes.
During her recommendation, Yun Sheng presented herself as a Master of both Fire and Wind magic.
Her notice instructed her to find Mo Ge in Yellow Sand City.
These two Mages had evidently been given the same instruction.
Upon hearing that Yun Sheng was from Dazhou Royal Magic Academy, the scornful female Mage suddenly let out a snort of laughter, "Dazhou Royal Magic Academy? Isn’t that the third-rate academy? I heard that the Royal Magic Academy is the only one that, relying on school architecture, became a High-level Magic Academy."
Yun Sheng frowned slightly upon hearing this.
Regarding the Royal Magic Academy, it indeed gained the status of a High-level Magic Academy thanks to its Magic Tower.
But it wasn’t as unremarkable as the outside world depicted, especially since Yun Sheng’s father, Yun Canghai, was among the earliest students of the Royal Magic Academy.
And there’s Master Mei Li, whose research in the field of Magic Potions is also quite distinctive.
In this generation of young people, including Yun Sheng, Gu Feng, and Qi, the magic they learned is also varied and unique.
Even though Yun Sheng did not have especially strong feelings for the Royal Magic Academy, she was nonetheless a member. Being insulted so openly was unpleasant for her.
The male Mage, upon hearing Yun Sheng was from the Royal Magic Academy, also appeared somewhat surprised, but still yearningly glanced at Yun Sheng’s face, "Yali, do not speak nonsense. The Royal Magic Academy may not be notable in magic, but I’ve heard that there is a Mage in the academy who can concoct High-grade Magic Medicine."
The so-called High-grade Magic Medicine refers to the Moon God’s Praise.
"Who knows if it isn’t just the Royal Magic Academy looking to boost their reputation by having someone else concoct it. The Royal Magic Academy has never disclosed the name of that potion-making student to the public," the Mage named Yali said with disdain.
Indeed, the reputation of the Royal Magic Academy was so poor that even the one thing they could showcase, the potion-making, was dismissed as having been concocted by an impostor.
"Heh, what a coincidence, I just happen to have come from the Royal Academy’s Magic Potion Department," Yun Sheng said with a forced smile.
