CHAPTER 309: IMPRESSED

The village of Winterseed experienced joy like never before. They welcomed every morning with joy and retired to their beds at night with relief. Even those who had to work very hard every day were more than happy to do so.

There was plenty of food to eat thanks to Rowan’s provision. Their clothing had become more comfortable and durable thanks to their precious lady, Riela. Although their housing condition hadn’t had that much improvement compared to the other categories, they were filled with joy with the news Rowan relayed to them a few days ago.

"A new land flowing with vitality. A new beginning for the people of Winterseed," were his words.

Those words had managed to trigger all forms of emotions from the people who could not help but look forward to entering such a place. A new beginning in a bigger land was a future they had never imagined and a future they desired.

No longer would their offspring be tied down to the limits of their village, which was surrounded by nothing but bushes. With the new land, which thankfully drifted around bigger settlements, they would be able to connect with others, learn new things, develop new skills, and meet new life-changing opportunities.

With this hope in mind, each day no longer felt like a burden but a countdown toward something great.

====

The morning light bathed the village. It had been an entire week since the evil spirits’ onslaught and the recovery of Ren and Liara.

As the morning light bathed the village, Rowan could be seen strolling down the streets alongside his mage friends, Merla and Eliman.

"Our stay in your village has been nothing short of an exciting adventure," Eliman said with a smile.

"Very true. I never imagined my stay here to be this good. The people are not just kind amongst themselves but also to strangers, not to mention the children who made my stay here even more enjoyable," Merla added happily.

Rowan simply smiled as he escorted the two mages. He felt bad that he would be bidding these two farewell. In the few weeks they have known each other, their bond had grown so strong.

As they strolled down the street together, some of the children playing around ran to meet them and asked if they were leaving. After learning that they were, the children were saddened.

Unfortunately, both of them could not stay as they had their own families awaiting them. Not to mention that Eliman was the son of the lord of a big and powerful territory and Merla was a student of a prestigious magic academy.

As they reached the border of Winterseed, their reluctance to leave the village grew even stronger.

Eliman turned to Rowan with a solemn smile and handed him a small, fist-size gem.

"This is a commutation gem. It is one of the new developments of my father’s craftsmen before my departure. We could use it to communicate with one another a few times before it runs out of function," he explained.

Rowan held the gem in his hands. A description appeared over it, and it fit exactly what Eliman explained.

Rowan returned his gaze to his friend and smiled. "I will keep this with me at all times."

"Unfortunately, I do not have one of such precious communication artifacts," Merla let out with a wry smile, "but whenever you pay a visit to Blazoria Kingdom, come to the 3rd school of magic and ask for me."

Rowan nodded his head.

The three of them stood and observed each other with an awkward silence hanging around them.

"Farewell, brother." Eliman stretched his hand out and shook Rowan’s.

"Farewell," Merla said, hugging him.

After exchanging their farewells, both of them turned to look at the village one more time before Eliman brought out a flying magic artifact from his inventory. He carried Merla on it, hugging her by the waist as the flying artifact gradually levitated.

With a final wave, the magic artifact blasted away at insane speed, the wind howling in its wake.

Rowan observed the magic artifact for a few minutes with a calm expression before heaving a sigh and strolling back inside the village.

"Too bad they could not stay longer. They would’ve been a great help with the new territory Dragun had gone to check out," Rowan muttered as he strolled back to his place.

"Lord Rowan..." a familiar voice called his name. Tilting his head in the direction of the voice, he saw Liara and Elara strolling towards him with smiles on their faces.

Both ladies looked really healthy and happy. Their skin shone under the morning sun without blemish. Their smiles glimmered like ripples across a moonlit lake.

Strolling beside them was Blaze. The perverted wolf pet of Rowan had spent most of its time for the past few days with Liara. Rowan could not help but scoff at it.

"Elara, Liara, you two look very awesome this bright morning," he greeted the ladies with a smile, ignoring Blaze.

"Not nearly as awesome as you, Lord Rowan," the two of them replied.

"Haha, you flatter me too much," Rowan replied with a calm smile.

"I was just about to show Liara how far our livestocks are growing. You should come see them, Lord Rowan. They’ve grown so much, you won’t believe it," Elara said happily.

"Sure. It’s been a while since I visited the farm. I think this would be a perfect time."

"Great!" Elara jumped up, excited.

The four of them strolled together to the livestock shelter, discussing the village and the new joyous atmosphere that hung over it. Both ladies did not stop thanking Rowan for his actions, especially for Liara’s recovery.

Soon, they reached the livestock shelter. The place was bustling with activity. There were people washing the feeding troughs and water troughs. There were others feeding the livestocks and others getting rid of some unfortunate dead animals. All in all, the place was lively.

Elara took them to the chicken farm. The birds had grown so much. Although they were just a few weeks old, they were already robust like month-old chickens. The other animals were in good condition as well.
