CHAPTER 31: MY PEOPLE!

What’s the most exciting thing about playing a video game? That would be the reward.

Gregory was considered a mini boss so some decent loot should explode forth. This made Maxwell excited as he started listening to the System’s notification.

"Crackle!"

"Congratulations to Player Maxwell Gillette for killing Gregory."

"Reward: 600 XP, 60 mana."

"Extra Reward: Upgrade Element. Use now: Yes/No"

"Loot: 2 Improvement element, 3 Health orb. Badge: 1."

These series of notifications made Maxwell tremble in excitement. And once he saw the two words "Upgrade Element!" his joy increased. He immediately opened the System to take a look.

Item: Upgrade Element

Type A: Level 5 Upgrade Element

Mana: 15000/20000

Description: Mana will add by 100 points every second after consumption.

"Holy mother of games, 15,000 points of mana. Isn’t that too much?" Maxwell was beyond ecstatic.

Mana was something extremely important to any martial cultivator. Cultivation, Leveling up, activating martial Techniques, Forging armors and weapons, refining elements, carving arrays... They all required the usage of mana. In more modern terminology, mana was basically one’s blue mana bar that no one could get away from.

What kind of concept was 15,000 mana? He could release his divine technique Overdrive up to 50 times. With 50 times the release, he can beat the shit out of a senior at the silver rank.

"Good stuff, really good stuff. I never imagined Gregory to have such a loot explode out of him." Maxwell said out loud to himself. He then frowned when he remembered Sebastian’s reward for the winner of the competition. His lips curved into a smile before coldly saying: "You damn old dog, who would have thought you had already given the reward to your own son. No wonder Gregory was able to level up to level 2 bronze rank. So it was you behind it. Your chess move was a little too carefree. Wait until I returns, we’ll see how carefree you’ll become!"

"Long live Sir Maxwell!" Constantine yelled out while his blood red eyes were filled with excitement. He had no clue how he made that previous move himself. He only felt a power surge out of his body and when he threw out a punch, the power flowed out and knocked Gregory dizzy.

It was very powerful yet very strange, so no one understood how it happened. It contained a dizzying effect!

Maxwell couldn’t understand how Constantine could suddenly activate such a move, but he didn’t bother continue thinking because the first time he laid eyes on Constantine, he already knew he wasn’t that ordinary.

How can an ordinary baby survive in Eden with spawned beasts everywhere for several days?

Constantine definitely has some mysterious background. His whole body was red and that ancient looking beast on his bald head is most likely connected to all the blood mana he has been consuming.

The surrounding Gillette Household junior members were surprised with the strange transformation of Constantine. There was a hint of fear in their eyes as if they’d already made him an ominous person.

Maxwell didn’t care about the transformation. Constantine was his family so no matter what happened, they were still brothers. He turned around and laughed towards Constantine: "You think you’re so cool right now... Hahaha."

Gwendolyn’s tauted nerves finally loosened up before she lightly smiled while looking at Maxwell. Two small dimples were revealed from her smile, making her look very pretty. That smile of hers almost hooked Maxwell’s soul right out of him. He couldn’t help but praise inwardly: "That girl’s smile can seriously take a person’s life..."

Once Gwendolyn was done smiling, her eyes slowly closed as she collapsed in the direction of Maxwell. Maxwell’s countenance changed. If he didn’t move away, Gwendolyn’s little pouty lips were going to land on him again. Those soft and smooth lips that brought a light fragrance with it.

Woa, that feeling in his memory was too awesome and he could barely calm himself down just thinking about it. He wanted to relive that experience but he held back at the last moment and grabbed onto her soft and limp body. He then said: "Hey girl, hey... Are you alright?"

Malachi appeared in a flash. Upon seeing Gwendolyn, he then said: "Don’t worry, she has only fainted and will be better after resting for a bit." After saying that, he pulled out a small porcelain vial and poured out a Peace orb and pushed it into her mouth. "She’ll be fine after a while."

"Thank you Duke Malachi." Said Maxwell in a grateful manner.

Malachi laughed, "You are too polite." He pushed the small porcelain vial over and said: "There’s still a few more Peace orb inside; consider this a greeting gift from me to you, Sir Maxwell."

He didn’t give Maxwell the chance to decline it and placed it in his hands.

He clearly saw Maxwell’s abilities which made him inwardly shocked. Maxwell was someone the Gryphon’s Household could not go against. The Gillette Household will rise because of him and no one can stop it!

He was now in full admiration of Malachi’s foresight or else the Gryphon’s Household would have missed this opportunity to interact with Maxwell. Who knows what would happen in the future because of the missed chance.

"I’ll be taking my leave now. When you return to Eden City, you must swing by to visit our Household. And whatever difficulty you encounter, our Household will assist you with our utmost ability, no matter the difficulty." Said Malachi in a serious manner, and he deliberately emphasized the four words "No matter the difficulty."

Maxwell then replied: "Of course I will. If you could thank the Gryphon’s Lord for me. The help the Gryphon’s Household has given me has been imprinted in my heart. One day I will definitely repay the kindness."

If it weren’t for the appearance of Malachi, he would have probably died an early death. This kindness was something Maxwell would remember.

To those that treated him well, he will pay back up to a 100 times. For those that treated him badly, he will pay them back up to a 1000 times. This was the type of person Maxwell was becoming! After a few more brief words, Malachi disappeared into the midst of the forest. He wanted to immediately return to Eden City to inform the Gryphon’s Household everything that had happened!

Once he left, the rest of the Gillette household junior members looked at one another before finally resting their gaze on Maxwell.

Their eyes were currently filled with fear. They were afraid of Maxwell killing them all to silence them since they were all witnesses to him killing Gregory.

Maxwell’s expression changed into a serious look before saying: "You have all seen my strength and seen the way I do things. There’s some things that you should all understand and don’t need to be said out loud. Constantine! Bring that zero storage space filled with spawned beast heads over here."

Constantine didn’t hesitate and passed the zero storage space over.

Maxwell then poured all the spawned beast heads out that bunched up into a small hill. He then smiled, "If you wish to join me, then go ahead and split these spawned beast heads amongst yourselves. From now on, you are all my people. If I’m around, you guys will all be there with me as well."

A hint of excitement appeared in everyone’s eyes.

After saying that, Maxwell’s tone changed and coldly said: "It’s also okay if you’re not willing to be a part of my people. You can leave and I won’t make any moves to stop you. But if you spread what happened here, don’t blame me for not treating you as my member!"

As his voice faded, he leapt up and landed on top of Gregory’s head. The stomp directly shattered the head causing blood splatter to cover the grounds. The eyes of everyone trembled.

One of the junior members went over and grabbed a spawned beast head. He then kneeled on one knee and cupped his hands to Maxwell: "Thank you Sir Maxwell!"

After that, they all stepped forward to get a spawned beast head and all seriously yelled out: "Thank you Sir Maxwell!"

The scene was a bit shocking when they roared out in chorus. They all looked very serious and Maxwell could see in their eyes that they had all been subdued by him. They would all be used by him to rebuild the Gillette Household!

"I, Maxwell hereby promise that I will bring you and the Gillette Household back to its former glory!" Maxwell enthusiastically shouted.

Once the spawned beast heads were split up, everyone then quickly dispersed.

Maxwell looked towards the direction of Eden City and felt the clouds surging in the area. He could sense there would be another bitter battle awaiting him at the city. There was only one thing he could do at this point – Level Up.

He had to quickly grow stronger. There was still one day before the end of the entrance competition so within this one day time; he had to quickly Level Up! This world is a place where the strong dominates everything. If one didn’t wish to be picked on, then they must become stronger.

Maxwell held onto Gwendolyn and jumped onto the back of the Raging Fire Bull before yelling out: "Overkill!"
