CHAPTER 50: CHAPTER 51: LIKE A TRANSPARENT PERSON 2

After listening to Iris, she nodded indifferently. Only when Iris went upstairs did she turn to Viola Harris and Brandan Hyde with a smile, saying, "Would you like some fruit? Someone brought lychees over yesterday; I can have them brought for you to try."

Her attitude was completely different from when Iris was present—warm and enthusiastic.

Viola Harris nodded, "Yes, I want some; lychee is my favorite!"

Brandan Hyde was noncommittal, his gaze following Iris’s departing figure with some thoughtfulness.

It was his first visit to the Harris family, and just by interacting with Iris, he glimpsed some clues about this family.

"Brandan, what are you looking at? Want to eat some lychees?"

Viola Harris clung to Brandan’s arm in a coquettish manner, lifting her bright eyes to gaze sweetly at him.

Brandan’s eyes returned from the staircase. He glanced at Viola Harris, and somehow, he suddenly found the sugary sweetness before him quite irritating.

Viola Harris was completely different from Iris Harris.

He couldn’t help but compare the two.

Iris was calm, composed, like a tranquil lake; no one could see what kind of turbulent undercurrents were hidden in her eyes, compelling one to explore her depths.

Viola Harris... How was she any different from the other women who clung to him?

Garish, fragile, filled with the artificial scent of rouge and powder, making him feel uncomfortable.

Brandan extracted his arm from Viola’s embrace without a trace and stood up from the sofa, saying to her, "I’m going out for some fresh air."

Viola was rejected coldly, her smile stiffening for a moment before she quickly stood up from the sofa, smiling sweetly at Brandan, "I’ll go with you, Brandan."

Brandan, however, ignored her, replying indifferently, "No need."

With that, he walked out.

Viola watched his back, her expression stiffening slightly. Her fingers slowly clenched in frustration before she angrily sat back down on the sofa.

"Viola," Mrs. Harris looked at her daughter, frowning slightly, and asked softly, "Did you have a fight with Brandan?"

"No."

Viola gritted her teeth in response.

"Then why..."

Mrs. Harris was not a fool. Brandan’s refusal to let Viola accompany him was unusual for them.

After all, for the past five years, everyone had seen how Brandan doted on Viola.

"It’s because of that b*tch!" Viola’s voice rose, and she slammed the lychees brought by the servant onto the floor, her eyes filled with jealous resentment, "Mom, she wants to take Brandan from me! She actually wants to take Brandan from me! That b*tch, b*tch!"

Viola Harris had been spoiled since childhood.

Mrs. Harris had Viola later in life and doted on her excessively. After giving birth to Viola, she and Mr. Harris tried hard for a while but couldn’t have another child.

Seeing her precious child this upset, Mrs. Harris was heartbroken. She hurriedly hugged her, "There, there, sweetheart, don’t be like this! No one will take Brandan from you. Brandan likes you, doesn’t he? Does he show any sign of liking her? Don’t overthink it!"

"But..."

Viola felt aggrieved, leaning on her mother’s chest, biting her lip, and speaking softly, "Brandan has been more and more distant with me lately... He didn’t even come to the hospital to see me when I was sick."
