CHAPTER 48: CHAPTER 019 A GUILTY CONSCIENCE

Waiting for the elevator outside the restaurant, the two stood side by side. Fu Weiheng had a question in his heart. After hesitating for a long time, he spoke casually, "Wanwan, you and Zhi Yan..."

"Hmm?" Su Wan raised her eyes and honestly explained, "Oh, last time at the convenience store, Lawyer Jiang didn’t have cash to pay, and I happened to be behind him in line. Seeing he only had a bottle of water, I just paid for him."

The elevator door opened, and Fu Weiheng led her inside one after the other. After the door closed, he didn’t rush to press the elevator button but stood next to Su Wan, staring intently at her face.

Su Wan hadn’t noticed his gaze. She raised her hand to press the elevator button but was stopped by his outstretched hand.

Puzzled, she glanced at him, just about to ask when he suddenly lowered his head slowly and covered her lips.

The cool lips only stayed for two seconds, a gentle and brief kiss.

Fu Weiheng straightened up, pressed the elevator button, and holding Su Wan’s hand, he said calmly, "Hmm, then don’t pay for others in the future."

Su Wan’s face warmed, murmuring, "I just accidentally saw what was in his wallet and felt awkward..."

She wasn’t really in the habit of paying for others everywhere...

Fu Weiheng chuckled lowly.

When the elevator arrived on the first floor, Su Wan felt even more embarrassed by his laughter, glared at him in embarrassment, and walked out quickly.

Fu Weiheng quickly caught up to her, pulled her near the car, and suddenly kissed her lightly on the corner of her lips again: "Not mad, hmm?"

Su Wan’s heart was pounding rapidly, too shy to know what to do, she directly opened the car door and got inside.

This was right in front of the store!

As the car drove onto the road, Fu Weiheng skillfully turned the steering wheel and said, "There’s a CD in the front compartment, play whatever you want."

Su Wan had not yet gotten over the initial kiss, muttered "Oh," opened the compartment, idly flipped through, and pulled out an album with a minimalist cover. She saw the only album name on it.

"Neil’s Violin."

Su Wan’s eyes lit up. This seemed to be an album by the God.

So she carefully took out the CD and inserted it into the player, pressing play.

Bright piano sounds immediately filled the entire car, followed by a light, lively violin melody playing the main theme.

Fu Weiheng listened to this incredibly familiar style of playing, glanced at her in surprise, and laughed, "Why play this?"

Su Wan smiled sweetly, "Because it sounds nice when played like this."

It happened to be a red light, Fu Weiheng stopped the car and looked sideways at her. She was smiling, dimples slightly showing, and her eyes were bright and transparent, incredibly sincere. His heart suddenly softened, he said hoarsely, "Honored by your love, I am sincerely grateful."

Su Wan grinned even wider, her peripheral vision caught sight of the empty cigarette slot, curiously, "Huh? You quit smoking?"

Green light, Fu Weiheng released the brake to move forward, "I promised you I would quit."

Su Wan: "...Oh."

The phone vibrated, Su Wan glanced at the caller ID and picked up, "Yao Yao, what’s up?"

There was a noisy environment on Yao Ye’s end, "Hey, Wanwan, I’m almost at the station. Have you and Xu Chengyang left yet?"

Su Wan was startled, oh no, she had completely forgotten about Yao Ye’s returning to campus today, as they had planned a couple of days ago to pick her up with Xu Chengyang.

She hurriedly asked on the phone, "How long until you arrive?"

Yao Ye: "About twenty minutes, I think."

Su Wan looked out at the street, estimating, "Okay, I should be able to get there soon."

After hanging up, Su Wan looked at Fu Weiheng, somewhat apologetic, "Uh, I suddenly have something to do... Yao Ye’s back, and we agreed to pick her up."

Fu Weiheng: "Hmm, I’ll take you there."

Su Wan hurriedly refused, "No need, no need, it’s too much trouble. I can take the bus myself."

Fu Weiheng made a U-turn, raising an eyebrow slightly, "Wanwan, you don’t need to be so polite with me."

Su Wan: "..."

She hadn’t been standing at the station exit for long before seeing Yao Ye dragging a suitcase, eagerly running towards her, covered in dust, and throwing herself into Su Wan’s arms.

"Wanwan, I’ve missed you all so much!" Yao Ye looked up, searching around, "Where’s Xu Chengyang? Why are you here alone?"

Su Wan explained, "She decided last minute to participate in a competition today, went to discuss with the department head, couldn’t get away."

Yao Ye, leaning on her shoulder, said, "Hey, has that girl finally come around? Not afraid to take the stage anymore?"

Su Wan: "...Probably."

"Don’t worry, Xu Chengyang is fearless. What could she be afraid of in a competition? She’s solid, trust me!" Yao Ye patted her chest, then suddenly said, "Oh right, Wanwan, what was going on with you two ending up at the police station before, are you okay?"

"Hmm, it’s nothing." Su Wan brushed over it lightly.

"I heard from Xu Chengyang that someone was harassing you, isn’t that something! How could this happen as soon as I left?" Yao Ye turned her around, looking closely, "Let me see, were you harassed anywhere?"
