CHAPTER 58: CHAPTER 22 HIDDEN DEPTHS_3

It was the girl who had just picked out the same book as she did.

Wen Nian was also taken aback, raising her eyebrows in confusion as she looked at her.

Su Wan raised her hand and pointed at her bag, gently reminding her, "Your bag almost got stolen."

Wen Nian widened her eyes in shock, hurriedly turning around to check her bag.

Su Wan asked with concern, "Did you lose anything?"

She pulled out a gray scarf, relieved to find it wasn’t lost, and sighed with relief. Then, she took out her phone, typed something on the keyboard for a while, and showed it to Su Wan.

Su Wan glanced at her without understanding, then lowered her gaze to the screen and saw a line of text: Sister, thank you.

Su Wan had a vague feeling and looked up, slightly surprised in her eyes, seeing her pursing her lips, pointing at her mouth and throat, and waving her hand, she felt even more bittersweet and regretful.

This delicate and obedient girl, who looked quite young, couldn’t speak.

Wen Nian typed another line and handed it over: This thing is very important to me. Thank you, sister.

Su Wan waved her hand with a slight smile: "No need, it’s the right thing to do."

After a moment of contemplation, she was handed a new message: Sister, let me treat you to some cake?

The girl was quite cheerful, her brows and eyes smiling, as if she wasn’t affected by the inability to speak at all.

Su Wan glanced at her watch, realizing there was not much time until lunch, she smiled and politely declined: "I have another appointment later, no need to be so polite."

Wen Nian: Then sister, leave me your number. I’ll treat you next time. I’ll make it myself ^_^

Su Wan unconsciously curved her lips: "Alright."

After exchanging numbers, Wen Nian quickly typed another line: By the way, sister, my name is Wen Nian.

"I’m Su Wan." Su Wan typed her name on the phone’s keyboard, then picked up her coffee to leave, "I’m going, keep reading."

Wen Nian smiled sweetly, nodding and waving her hand.

From the bookstore to Endless by subway was just two stops away. Su Wan held the cup of now lukewarm coffee, having barely taken a sip because she forgot to add sugar; it was too bitter, yet she was reluctant to waste it, so she carried it like that all the way out of the metro, planning to sip it little by little.

"Thief, catch the thief—"

A shout suddenly came from behind.

Su Wan was startled, turned around instinctively, and was surprised.

How did she encounter two thieves within less than an hour?

She saw a dark figure clutching stolen goods, wearing a cap, running rapidly in her direction, with a panting middle-aged woman chasing far behind.

Su Wan stood there, feeling the cap was somewhat familiar. Seeing the thief getting only a few meters away, she didn’t think much and removed the lid of the coffee, splashing it onto his eyes with a swift motion.

The thief, startled by the unexpected liquid, staggered. Instantly, Su Wan stepped forward, executed a capture move, and pressed him to the ground with a clean and swift action.

Passersby, seeing such a brave young woman, gathered around.

Nearby police officers hurried over, Su Wan got up and stood aside, allowing them to handle the aftermath.

A young officer, while handcuffing the thief, smiled at Su Wan: "Nice moves, young lady, are you from the police academy?"

Su Wan shook her head: "No."

Another older officer gave her a thumbs up: "Very brave."

The thief was unwilling, glaring at Su Wan resentfully as he was pulled up, looking like he wanted to swallow her whole.

Su Wan noticed his face stained with coffee and was taken aback.

Wasn’t this the thief who tried to steal from Wen Nian earlier? How did he get here and still run into her? It’s like he was inviting a battle...

The thief recognized her too, angrily shouting at her: "Why is it you again? Do I have a grudge against you?"

Su Wan calmly looked straight at him: "No."

The thief was infuriated by her unwavering expression, scowling furiously: "Then why do you keep spoiling my plans?"

Su Wan slightly frowned, unhurriedly: "Because I don’t like you."

"...Damn! What the hell!"
