CHAPTER 27: SHORTS ARE SO SHORT

The sales assistant brought over a pair of women’s sports shoes, smiling and saying, "Miss, your feet are so small. Size 33 is still in stock, but it’s not easy to find."

"Not just small, but also especially pretty!"

Luis didn’t hold back his praise.

Leah’s face turned even redder, but her eyes were much gentler than before, glistening with a hint of moisture. She looked at the shoes, her eyes lighting up, but then said somewhat coyly, "Brother, actually, other shoes are quite pretty too."

Earlier, when passing by the store, she had glanced at these shoes a few times. Luis noticed this detail and asked if she liked them.

Leah blushed and nodded, saying that her school required students to wear sports shoes for class, and this particular style was very popular among the girls at her school. She had seen many girls wearing them.

The envy in her voice was unmistakable, so Luis directly pulled her into the store.

Luis didn’t say much, humming a tune as he put on disposable socks for her, then personally helped her into the sports shoes and said with a smile, "Stand up and walk around to see if they fit."

Leah stood up and took a few steps, her eyes clearly unable to hide her delight. Luis asked again with concern, "How are they? Do they fit?"

"They’re perfect~!"

Leah, who had been acting shy all day, gave Luis a sweet smile.

"Brother in law, you’re so good."

Hearing this, Luis felt all the motivation in the world surge through him. Without hesitation, he swiped his card and went on a shopping spree, buying so many things, even slippers and sandals, that Leah was left in a daze.

In the taxi on the way home, the bags were piled to the side. Luis still held her hand, but this time, he began to caress her delicate fingers without restraint.

Leah’s face flushed, and she trembled slightly, letting Luis touch her. At this moment, she was overjoyed, having finally gotten her fill of the shopping high.

For her, this was definitely a luxury splurge, but she couldn’t hide the unease in her heart.

"Brother in law... you spent so much money. How are you going to explain it to Second Sister?"

"Your Second Sister doesn’t dare to question what I do, don’t worry!"

Luis noticed her gaze softening and couldn’t resist kissing her little hand, teasing, "How strange. My precious Leah isn’t calling me a pervert or a creep anymore. I almost miss it."

"Stupid brother in law... but you did peek!"

Leah’s tone was almost like coquettish whining now.

The dormitories at City No. 1 School came in two types, two for boys and two for girls, both quite impressive. The old dormitory buildings had standard eight person rooms with only two ceiling fans and shared bathrooms on each floor.

The new dormitory buildings had better conditions, with four person rooms, air conditioning (electricity bills paid separately), and private bathrooms and showers. They were also twice as spacious as the eight person rooms.

The prices were worlds apart. The former was free, while the latter cost 1,000 dollars per semester.

Luis was naturally extravagant and chose the latter without hesitation. He also topped up her meal card with 100 dollars, running around eagerly to get everything settled.

"Brother in law, Mom can’t find out about this, or she’ll scold me to death!!"

This was the sentence Leah had repeated the most over the past two days.

But she wore a sweet smile because Luis had thrown all her old living supplies from the military training into the trash without hesitation, clapping his hands and saying, "Got it. You’re so young but already nagging like your mom. I’ll take you to buy new ones tonight."

"Okay~!"

Leah smiled sweetly, her shy, lovestruck expression enough to make anyone’s heart flutter.

The living supplies she had brought were all old household items like cups, basins, and even shampoo that Ruth had scrounged up, cheap or even counterfeit brands.

Especially the old bedsheets and pillow Ruth had prepared, which weren’t even matching and had tacky, gaudy patterns. Luis took one look and immediately tossed them into the trash.

Back home, Mother In Law said she wouldn’t be back for dinner, as Yana, the beautiful young woman, was treating them to a rare meal.

Luis collapsed onto the sofa to rest, since accompanying a woman shopping was exhausting. He checked his phone and saw his balance was now under 18,000 dollars.

The 10,000 dollar reward from the first "Lust System" task wasn’t even enough to buy three bracelets, and now he’d spent another more dollars on Leah in a single day.

Using money to win her over was clearly effective, and Luis had grown to love the feeling of splurging. But now he was frustrated, wanting to unlock more tasks to earn money.

When Lily returned home and saw her husband asleep on the sofa, she tiptoed upstairs. Leah had just finished hanging up her newly washed clothes and froze when she saw her sister, feeling incredibly guilty.

"You little brat, you really went all out, buying so much stuff."

Lily joked, picking up her sister’s new underwear and feeling it approvingly. "The quality is really good, and the style is nice too. You’ve got great taste."

"Well, he’s my brother in law. If the little sister doesn’t take advantage of her brother in law, who will?"

Leah giggled happily. The price tags had been removed, and the receipts were safely hidden.

"The quality is really good. Was it expensive?"

"I don’t know. Brother in law paid for it."

After dodging the question, Lily went to change clothes, worried that her own clothes might not fit anymore and that she might have gained weight.

When Luis woke up, he was very hungry. He had already told Lily not to buy groceries, so after discussing it, they went to a restaurant that Lily loved to solve their dinner problem.

After dinner, taking a walk was the most comfortable thing. Luis holding his wife Lily’s hand, while Lily held her little sister Leah’s hand on the other side, was the most normal configuration.

The two sisters chatted while Luis listened with a smile, hardly speaking. However, he couldn’t help but notice Leah occasionally glancing his way. At her young age, she couldn’t quite hide the inexplicable sense of loss in her heart.

Her eyes secretly looked at Luis, watching the way her brother-in-law and second sister held hands, and for some reason, she felt a sourness in her heart.

Lily frowned in confusion. "Little sister, what are you thinking about so absentmindedly? I asked you something, and you didn’t even respond."

"Ah..."

Leah snapped out of her daze, a bit embarrassed. "Second sister, what did you say?"

"Honestly, I was saying that your room doesn’t have air conditioning and it’s too hot. Why don’t you come sleep on our side tonight? We can make a bed on the floor."

Leah’s face turned red as she shook her head. "No, I’d rather sneak into big sister’s room to sleep. That way, Mom won’t find out."

Hearing this, Luis felt a slight disappointment, but Lily teased, "You definitely wouldn’t dare go to Mom’s side, huh?"

Leah rolled her eyes. "You’re the bold one, you go. If Mom comes back after losing at cards, she’ll drag you up and scold you on the spot."

After walking around, they returned home and took turns showering. Luis finished washing up and came out wearing only boxer briefs. Lily scolded him, "At least put on some swim trunks. Little sister is still home."

"It’s fine, she’s a homebody who’s always holed up in her room."

Luis said matter-of-factly, "Besides, why be so formal with family? When it’s hot, your dad walks around in just his underwear too."

"He wears shorts over them."

"Those shorts are so short they might as well be underwear."

After a long day out, Luis was exhausted and went to bed early, holding his delicate wife in his arms.

The next morning, Lily went to work. Normally, Ruth would have left the house by noon, but strangely, she was still at home doing laundry and hadn’t gone anywhere.

Eager to have some alone time with his sister-in-law to start the mission line, Luis walked into her bedroom and asked with concern, "Mom, why aren’t you going to the teahouse today?"

"Don’t even mention it. My luck’s been bad these past few days."

Ruth said with a look of frustration.

Ruth was wearing a conservative yet homely nightgown, a V-neck with shoulder straps. Even though she had a bra on, the deep cleavage and snow-white expanse of her breasts were still visible.

As she moved, her chest swayed in a dizzying manner, making Luis swallow hard uncontrollably, feeling his member beginning to stiffen.

Ruth turned around and saw Luis wearing only his underwear. Her expression became slightly unnatural as she scolded, "You’re so sloppy. Little sister is still home, how can you walk around dressed like this?"

"It’s my own home, it’s not like I’m wandering around outside!"

Luis’s audacity had grown, but he still adopted an apologetic tone. "I forgot Leah was home. I thought since it was just you, it wouldn’t matter if I was more casual with family."

This was a hint that when Leah wasn’t home, the family could be even more relaxed.

Ruth secretly glanced at the slight tent in her son-in-law’s underwear, thinking it was strange for him to be dressed like this in her room.
