CHAPTER 966: CHAPTER 286: AS LONG AS IT’S YOU, I WANT IT ALL (PART 2)

The candy seller watched Feng Bai’s back, shaking her head slightly. She saw Feng Bai’s expression, like someone who had just gone through a breakup. Could it be that the once sweet couple had separated? What a pity, she had been so envious back then.

"Such a pity, I thought they would be happily together forever. Looks like they broke up, doesn’t it?"

She had seen with her own eyes the affection in that man’s eyes. How could they have separated? What a shame.

"No, not at all, look outside."

Another store clerk reminded her.

The first store clerk looked up, smiling.

"I told you, how could such a perfect match break up? It’s probably just a small misunderstanding."

Not far from the two clerks, Feng Bai was lowering her head and eating a candied hawthorn, with a tall man standing before her at some point, none other than Li Jingmo.

"Is it tasty?"

A familiar voice came to her ear. Feng Bai, startled, raised her head, the candied hawthorn in her mouth almost choking her from surprise. She frowned in discomfort.

Li Jingmo’s expression changed slightly. He quickly patted Feng Bai on the back. "How could you be so careless? Did I scare you?"

Feng Bai took a step back, turned around, and ran towards not far away. She didn’t know how to face him. She didn’t want to see Li Jingmo at all right now.

Feng Bai ran quickly, bypassing many people as she dashed across the road.

Li Jingmo took large steps to chase Feng Bai, but due to the crowd, he was a step too late.

Suddenly there came the sound of harsh braking and a thud not far off, followed by screams from the crowd, "A girl got hit."

The crowd quickly gathered around. Li Jingmo caught up, his face changing drastically, as he pushed the crowd forcefully aside, shouting in terror and fear, "Feng Bai, Feng Bai."

In the middle of the road, a young woman in a gray wool coat lay on the ground with blood covering her head.

Panicked, Li Jingmo pushed through the crowd. Seeing the young woman’s clothes, he failed to notice in his panic that the woman’s shoes and pants were different from Feng Bai’s. Trembling all over, he squatted on the ground and cried out in agony, "No, Feng Bai."

Without looking at the woman’s face on the ground, Li Jingmo hugged the bleeding woman on the ground, shouting all around, "An ambulance, hurry, call an ambulance."

Many in the crowd, seeing Li Jingmo’s pain, quickly took out their phones to make emergency calls.

"What are you doing? Let go of my wife!"

A man, carrying items in his hands, squeezed into the crowd. Seeing Li Jingmo kneeling on the ground and hugging his wife, he threw his belongings and forcefully pushed Li Jingmo away. "Wife, wife, how could this happen to you, I just went off to buy some things, how did this happen?"

Li Jingmo, pushed away by the man and covered in blood, looked at the woman in the man’s arms, then noticed the woman’s face—it wasn’t Feng Bai.

Li Jingmo raised his smile, laughing joyfully, realizing his Feng Bai was fine, it wasn’t her.

The man, furious, glared at Li Jingmo. His wife had been hit, yet this man was laughing.

Li Jingmo didn’t care about the man’s furious glare. Because of a woman wearing somewhat similar clothes to Feng Bai, he had panicked and mistakenly thought it was her. Now knowing it wasn’t, he was immensely relieved.

No longer paying attention to the couple on the ground, Li Jingmo looked around, wanting to find Feng Bai.

His gaze suddenly fixed ahead, and there stood Feng Bai clad in a gray wool coat at the front of the crowd, her eyes red as she stared at the blood-covered Li Jingmo.

At the sight of Feng Bai, Li Jingmo took large steps forward and embraced her tightly, as if afraid she would run away and disappear.

"It wasn’t you, luckily it wasn’t you, luckily it wasn’t you."

His tone was chaotic, filled with relief, as he repeated it continuously.

Resting against Li Jingmo’s chest, Feng Bai said nothing. She had heard everything just now, and she had seen everything.

Earlier, as soon as she ran across the road, she heard a thud behind her, followed by the screams of the crowd, and then she heard Li Jingmo’s frantic and urgent voice. When she came back and stood in the crowd, she saw his fearful expression. His face was no longer that of the calm man she had known.

"Li Jingmo!"

She called softly, and Li Jingmo held Feng Bai even tighter, "Don’t leave me again, Feng Bai, don’t ever leave me."

Feng Bai felt a sour twinge at her nose. She had no intention of leaving him, but she wasn’t human. How could she stay by his side and be with him?
