CHAPTER 526: TRAVEL AND NON-TRAVEL TRAVEL CHAPTER FORTY-EIGHT WITCH DEMON_4

"Your service can indeed earn you limited freedom, but I don’t entirely trust your character," Lynch shook the Powerful Wand and said, "Even an oath, I cannot completely believe, after all, it comes from the mouth of a lich. How about this, you hand over the Life Box to me, and I won’t use the Necroman Magic Pearl against you."

"This... is actually the Necroman Magic Pearl?" The Witch Demon’s mouth gaped wide, finally understanding where the fear in its heart came from. It thought for a moment, then removed one of its teeth. Crushing it forcefully, a small rectangular box lay in its palm.

"Instant summoning?" Lynch took the Life Box and withdrew the wand, "It seems you really have quite a few good things; this spell is very rare now."

As soon as the Undead Magic Bead moved away from its sight, the Witch Demon quickly extended its hand and gripped Lynch’s neck, its bony fingers tightly grasping his throat, preventing the mage from uttering any spell.

Lynch felt a coldness seize him, a sensation that went deep into his bones. He understood that, similar to the touch of a ghost, it carried the force of the Undead World, and after some time, it would cause the living to lose life force. The Witch Demon stared into the mage’s eyes, laughing loudly, "Even if you possess my Life Box, how do you have the ability to destroy it? Apart from the Undead Magic Bead, I’m not afraid of any of your means. By the time your companions arrive, you will have become a corpse—a corpse I can use to exchange bodies!"

Zilvra and Macken were caught off guard by this change, and they were too far to rush forward to help. Soka had prepared his bow and arrows, but the Witch Demon used Lynch to block the direction of the arrows, leaving the little angel with no chance to act.

Lynch, though unable to breathe, showed a smile. On that pale face formed an eerie smile, a look that even made the Witch Demon shiver. Lynch slowly lifted his right hand, and a silver light sphere slowly floated up, beneath it was the Witch Demon’s Life Box.

The Life Box is a bridge connecting this undead creature with the Death World, continuously supplying negative energy to the Witch Demon. However, once the powerful Magic Origin Power acts on the Life Box, it will use an unstoppable momentum to obliterate other energy types, utterly threatening the foundations of the Witch Demon’s existence.

Accompanied by a shrill scream, the Witch Demon knelt before Lynch, its hand naturally loosening. The bones throughout its body began to steam, like dry branches baked near a fire, threatening to ignite and crumble to ashes at any moment. The Witch Demon stretched out its hand, struggling to reach for its Life Box, but the next moment, both hands began to pull at the mage’s robe. The Witch Demon desperately begged, pleading with Lynch to spare it.

"I had already anticipated that you would attack me when the Necroman Magic Pearl moved away, because you thought I couldn’t smash your Life Box immediately," Lynch said, "Even without the Life Box, you can make another one. In your mind, exchanging a period of danger without revival for the Necroman Magic Pearl is an excellent transaction. But Witch Demon, did you ever consider why I would tell you the name of this treasure? Especially when I don’t need to use its name to subdue you?"

The Witch Demon curled up on the ground, hollow patterns began to appear on its bones; now, this undead creature couldn’t even scream, only trembling as it awaited its demise. Just a little more time, and the Witch Demon’s Life Box would be completely dissolved by the power of the Magic Origin.

Lynch put away the silver Energy Ball, pointing the wand at the Witch Demon, "Now, do you know the role you need to play?"

The weak Witch Demon nodded, now lacking the strength to object. With the Life Box in the hands of a mage like Lynch, it could only obey orders. To prevent the Witch Demon from stealing the Life Box, Lynch placed it in the gap of his refined gold arm.

Macken Knight’s sword was always pointed at the Witch Demon, but Lynch stood between the two. "Macken Knight, this guy is useful to me."

"Such an evil thing nearby won’t help you, its mind full of tricks and deceit. Given the chance, it will do everything to destroy your life!" Macken Knight said, "Things like it deserve only one fate, to be tied to a stake and destroyed by the God of Light!"

"Knight! Retract your words; I am now under control!" The Witch Demon protested because it knew that without striving for a chance to live, it might be slain on the spot by the Paladin’s sword: "I am no longer a subject; I am merely a tool. A tool in the service of my master. To show my loyalty, I will tell my master my true name, so he holds the power over my fate." The Witch Demon planned in its heart that anyway, this mage’s life span is no more than a hundred years, an instant compared to its immortality. When this master dies, it will also gain the Necroman Magic Pearl and that strange magic energy. As long as it survives this trial, the future remains in its control.

Lynch memorized the name in his heart, only then did he confidently present his back to the Witch Demon. Because he knew, the true name engraved in the soul represents a powerful force and is a step in becoming a lich. At a mere thought, he could completely erase the Witch Demon using the power of the true name. Offering its true name meant the Witch Demon was completely disarmed, surrendering unconditionally.

Macken Knight insisted for a while but eventually lowered his sword, "Lynch, keeping such a thing with you will bring you infinite torment, possibly leading to your doom. It’s a gamble with your life!"

"Knight, don’t make a fuss, I have Lynch’s back," Zilvra examined the Witch Demon and then said, "If you make any suspicious move, I’ll blow your head off and bury your body in a beastman’s dung pit."

"Oh, mistress, I am a loyal servant," The Witch Demon still smoked, its body extremely fragile. This made all its movements accompanied by creaking sounds, yet its observation remained sharp. "I humbly provide service to everyone, in exchange for the chance to survive."

Zilvra ignored the Witch Demon’s flattery; such words she had heard no less than a thousand times back in Ratris City. Zilvra quietly said in Lynch’s ear, "Why keep such a thing? It’s too dangerous."

Lynch made a couple of gestures, explaining to Zilvra via Spiritual Connection, "We are about to enter the Ridge Mountains, and still need to continue north. Morgan hasn’t been home for years, and Macken Knight was previously the only one familiar with the northern tundra. He paused and then continued, "But since the Golden Forest incident, we can no longer fully rely on him."
