CHAPTER 72: EVERYTHING YOU DESIRE

"Alpha, that’s something astonishing you’ve proposed. Omegas are born to be slaves or servants of the wolves of the highest status wolves. They have the job to serve us. In return, we give them protection," the first elder said.

"You’re right. But I want some reforms in the pack for their betterment too," Lucien affirmed. "Though I know mostly omegas are given the duties of being servants, I do feel if there’s much better talent, then we do give those omegas an opportunity to do well in their lives."

"It’s not a bad idea to give the omegas in our pack more opportunities," the second elder said with a thoughtful gaze.

"I give you two days to think about it. If there are more questions, we will discuss them on the third day," Lucien stated, dissolving the meeting.

The four elders agreed and left their seats. They bade their goodbyes to theur Alpha while Lucien remained seated on his chair.

"Was it Leia who asked you such a thing?" Ronan questioned.

"Hmm. Her idea wasn’t bad," Lucien replied.

"I can’t believe you’re changing your beliefs for her," Ronan remarked.

"Am I?" Lucien chuckled, looking at the file on the table.

"Alpha, I’ve brought Simon here. He wanted to see you," Caleb informed.

"Sure. Ask him to come in," Lucien ordered.

In a moment, Simon walked inside the door and greeted both the Calandrino brothers.

"Have a seat," Lucien said.

Simon sat on the sofa chair at the end of the table. "Thank you, Lucien, for everything. Now my brother is dead and the pack has merged into yours, I feel the people must be much happier," he asserted.

"You’re not upset about your brother’s death?" Ronan squinted his eyes.

"Malrik gave me no reason to mourn for him," Simon said. "Sometimes blood relations turn against each other. Not every brother is like Lucien, who protects his brothers," he reasoned.

Ronan couldn’t agree less to it. There were many instances where Lucien always took his stand. Though he hated to admit it in the beginning, Lucien did a lot for him.

"Since you’re a beta, I think Caleb can give you the suitable work in the pack. I believe your experience is going to help us," Lucien asserted.

"Definitely. Thank you for trusting in me," Simon said. "What about Delia? Is she dead?"

"Yes," Lucien lied.

Both Ronan and Caleb gazed at Lucien briefly, but didn’t comment. If he chose to lie, there must be a strong reason behind it.

"Do you have to say anything more?" Lucien asked.

"No," Simon refused and rose to his feet. "I take my leave."

Once he left, Caleb asked, "Why did the Alpha lie?"

"I don’t plan to tell about Delia to many. It should remain between my trusted people," Lucien answered. Then, he checked the time on his watch and said, "Let’s go, Ronan. We can’t miss tonight’s dinner. See you tomorrow, Caleb."

The two brothers walked out to the car and entered the backseat. The driver started the engine and drove them back to the mansion.

Arriving home, the house butler quickly rushed to Lucien.

"Alpha, your aunt has called," the house butler informed politely.

"What was she saying?" Lucien questioned.

"She asked me to tell you to call her," the house butler replied, keeping his head low.

"Is the dinner ready?" Lucien asked.

"Yes, it’s ready," the house butler answered.

"Then, start setting the table," Lucien said and walked away.

Pushing the door open of his room, he went straight to the cupboard and recalled about the night of his rut when he returned from ending Malrik.

"What was Leia doing in my room that night?" Lucien murmured, his brows furrowing together.

After freshening up and changing his clothes, Lucien went to Leia’s room, but saw her descending the stairs. He approached her shortly when Leia tilted her head to look at him.

"I ended up being hungry," Leia said.

"Why did you come to my room that night?" Lucien asked. Her face drained of color instantly.

’Why is he asking that now? I thought he forgot,’ Leia thought. Even her heart began racing in fear.

"When?" Leia pretended not to remember. They were now at the bottom of the stairs and turned to the dining room.

"The night I returned from the battle. The same night I send you away," Lucien replied.

"Ahh..." Leia licked her lips and brought her hand to the back of her nape, feeling nervous. "I wanted to give you something."

"What?" Lucien asked.

"A gift," Leia replied and stopped. He, too, stopped walking and gazed at her in amusement.

"But I didn’t find any gift in the cupboard," Lucien said.

"Exactly. Before I keep it, you suddenly charged at me and asked me to run," Leia said, lowering her hand to her side. ’Please don’t ask anymore questions,’ she prayed.

"But there was nothing in your hand," Lucien stated. "I remember it well. You’ve come empty-handed." He took a step closer to her, leaning down to come face-to-face with her.

"What were searching in my room?" Lucien questioned again.

"Nothing. Why would I search anything?" Leia chuckled and walked past him. But he caught her wrist, pulling her back.

"You’re not going to your house tomorrow," Lucien said.

"What?" Leia widened her eyes in shock.

"That’s your punishment to lie to me," Lucien stated, releasing her wrist. "You still are scheming behind my back. I’m giving you everything you desire, Leia. This is the way you’ve to repay me, huh?" He sounded hurt, and before she could speak, he walked away, straight to the dining hall.

"Why do I feel upset about his words? Agh! I didn’t mean it to happen," Leia murmured to herself and arrived last there.

All the three brothers were already seated around the table. She gazed at Lucien, who already had begun eating. ’I need to tell him the truth, else he won’t take me to my house,’ Leia thought.

"Ahh!" She screamed in pain as her knee hit the edge of the table’s leg.

"Are you alright?" Both Ronan and Kieran spoke at the same time.
