CHAPTER 463: OBSESSION

"She doesn’t even look like Hannah, and this woman clearly had cosmetic surgery. Who knows what she originally looked like? How can you be so sure she’s like Hannah?"

Logan glanced at him, but said nothing.

It wasn’t about appearances. It was a feeling.

This woman had an obsessive fixation on replacing Selina. Just like Hannah had, in some twisted way, replaced Victoria.

Both women were desperate to overwrite the lives of Selina and her mother.

Luke changed the subject. "You think Selina will show up at Thomas’s 70th birthday?"

Logan glanced at the imposter not far away, cozying up to the Morris Family, and gave a cold laugh. "She will."

"But what identity is Carter Family planning to give her?" Luke frowned. "They gave the invitation to you. If you go, the imposter will tag along. And if she goes... won’t there be two identical ’Selinas’ at the party?"

He was baffled. "Wouldn’t Carter Family’s whole plan fall apart right there?"

Exactly. Why?

Logan’s expression didn’t change. He figured Carter Family would pull one of their favorite tricks.

—Introduce this ’Miss Clark’ as one of their own, then put her in a mask. Who would know the difference?

...

That evening, Sapphire Valley Villa.

Logan sent Miller Butler and the others off to rest. Soon, it was just him and the imposter alone in the villa.

Fresh from her shower, the woman sashayed toward the study. "Logan," she cooed sweetly.

Logan narrowed his eyes. "What is it?"

She mimicked Selina’s tone, playful and soft. "I heard Old Mr. Carter is throwing a big birthday banquet for his 70th. Are you going?"

Watching her pretend, Logan felt a wave of disgust churn in his gut.

He didn’t answer, only glanced meaningfully at the scar on her neck. "I remember Ethan said this scar had faded quite a bit under treatment. But now it looks worse. Any reason for that?"

The woman froze slightly. "Logan, I..."

"Maybe Ethan didn’t handle it properly," Logan interrupted coolly. "I’ll have him come by again. You’ve said you hate that scar, so there’s no reason to keep it."

She bit her lip and forced a nervous smile. "It’s late. No need to bother Dr. Drake. I’ll go to the hospital myself tomorrow."

Logan raised an eyebrow... then stood up.

His towering presence was suffocating. The woman didn’t know why, but her entire body started to tremble.

This man—this identity—was everything she’d dreamed of for the last twenty years. She had endured so much for this moment.

But now that Logan was actually her ’husband,’ she was terrified.

His eyes fixed on the scar.

Scars are unique. No two are ever exactly alike. Even Ethan might not have been able to tell, but Logan could see it—the tiny, subtle difference between hers and Selina’s.

Yet the scar was real.

To have one like Selina’s, a deep cut was necessary. Selina once said she’d nearly bled out from it. That’s why it hadn’t healed after all these years.

So what about this woman?

To match Selina’s scar, someone had to cut her—deep and deliberate.

...Just to impersonate someone else? Was it really worth that?

She looked no older than Selina.

What kind of obsession made her go this far... just to become Selina?

And...

That scar clearly wasn’t recent. You couldn’t fake time like that.

Which meant—when she was just a teenager, she willingly let someone slice her neck open just so that someday she could impersonate Selina.

Even Logan, for all his control, couldn’t wrap his head around that. Why?

Had she even known Selina back then? Known who she was? And even if she had—why this obsession to become her?

Logan calmly drew his gaze away.

"You want to attend Thomas’s birthday banquet?"

The woman pouted playfully. "Mhm, I do."

"I thought you didn’t like the Carter Family," Logan said casually. "Didn’t you once say Thomas deceived you? What changed? Why do you want to go to his party now?"

"Well... he’s still an elder..."

Logan cut her off smoothly. "Since when has Mrs. Reid been so respectful of her elders?"

He looked at her, expression unreadable. Her face paled slightly under his stare.

Then, just as suddenly, he said, "Fine. Let’s go."

The woman took a deep breath. "Great. I’ll get ready so we can arrive together."

Logan gave a vague nod, found an excuse to send her away, then absently rubbed his fingertips together.

He was certain now—the real Selina would be at that banquet too.

So what was Jacob’s plan? Let Selina show up, see this imposter clinging to Logan, and leave heartbroken, giving up any hope of returning?

This woman was clearly connected to the Carter Family. She and Jacob—one in the light, one in the dark—were working in tandem. But was she raised by them? Was she made to impersonate Selina?

But why?

If nothing had gone wrong, Selina would’ve married into the Carter Family. If Thomas’s goal was to control her, wouldn’t it have made more sense to push for her engagement to Ryan?

Logan’s pen froze mid-air.

A new theory surged in his mind.

This woman is connected to the Carter Family—but she’s not one of them.

The Carters were just the middlemen.

So then...

Who’s really behind her?

...

The next afternoon, one day before Old Mr. Carter’s birthday banquet, Logan got a call from Jack.

"Sir, the GM Center just called," Jack said carefully. "They said Mrs. Reid is there... well, the woman is there, causing a scene. The manager didn’t know how to handle it and called me."

Logan frowned. "Go take a look."

A beat passed. He changed his mind.

"No. I’ll go myself."

The banquet was tomorrow. He was about to see the real Selina again. She was almost back.

Nothing could go wrong now.

...

GM Center.

A wealthy woman clutched her chest in outrage, glaring at the smug imposter in front of her.

"Mrs. Reid, yes, it’s true that Mr. Reid holds shares in GM—but that doesn’t make GM your personal property! Business doesn’t work that way! You just seized the item I had already purchased. Does Mr. Reid even know you’re doing this?"

The store manager didn’t dare offend anyone. Jack hadn’t shown up yet, and he didn’t know how to resolve the situation. He tried reasoning gently with the woman:

"Mrs. Reid, please..."
