Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'
Chapter 504: Busted Bragging
CHAPTER 504: BUSTED BRAGGING
Robinson jumped in surprise, and Angela quickly put on a helpless look. "Manager, please don’t be upset. Mr. Robinson was just trying to stand up for me..."
She looked like a pitiful little white flower, fragile and innocent, as if saying, I didn’t ask him to do anything—he just acted on his own.
But the manager wasn’t buying it. "Stand up for you? Why would he need to stand up for you?"
Angela bit her lip and sighed. "Because my sister took the dish the boss meant for me. Mr. Robinson couldn’t stand to see it, so I understand. Manager, please... on my behalf..."
"The boss gave that dish to you?"
To her surprise, the manager directly interrupted her, letting out a cold laugh. He gave Angela a once-over, his face full of disbelief. "Miss Morris, who told you that dish was from the boss—for you?"
Silence fell like a hammer in the room.
Robinson and the rest were stunned.
That dish... wasn’t for Angela?
Angela was seething inside. Is this manager blind or just lying through his teeth?!
Trying to keep her image as the gracious and fragile heiress, she blinked away angry tears, feigning hurt but standing her ground.
"If it’s not for me, then it’s for my sister? Manager, I don’t know what my sister told you, but you clearly brought that bisque over after hearing I wanted to try it. So how could it not be for me?"
Trying to reassert her "special connection," Angela added, "And besides, I made plans to meet the boss here today. Manager, if he finds out you gave my dish to someone else, don’t you think he’ll take my side?"
The manager gave her a strange look. "Miss Morris, are you even aware who our boss is?"
Angela snapped, "Of course I know! He’s my friend!"
"Friend?" The manager gave a sharp laugh, and his expression turned ice cold. "Miss Morris, I’d say you don’t know our boss at all—and yet you go around using their name to scam people?"
"You’re lying!" Angela exploded. Now that she was officially the Morris family’s heiress, she saw herself as someone of high status. How dare a mere manager treat her this way? Her whole body trembled with rage. "I’m ordering you to apologize right now! Or when the boss arrives—don’t blame me for what happens to your job!"
"Is that so?" The manager showed no fear.
Looking directly at Angela, he could tell—despite having Selina’s face—they were nothing alike.
He was utterly disgusted by this impostor. With a sneer, he said slowly, "Did it never occur to you, Miss Morris... that the boss is already here? In this very room."
The boss... already here?
In this room?!
Angela’s gaze swept the space instinctively. Besides Robinson and his little gang, only Selina was left.
No sign of the boss anywhere.
Angela forced herself to stay calm. "Manager, enough with the lies. I told you—if you apologize and beg now, I might still speak up for you when the boss shows up. But if you lose your job—don’t blame me for being ruthless—"
"Selina! Open me a private room—I brought some friends to hang out!"
A clear, energetic male voice suddenly cut her off.
Luke barged in like he owned the place, completely unaware of the drama inside. Behind him followed a group of spoiled rich kids.
"Butler—manager! Fancy seeing you here again," Luke beamed.
Then, like an overexcited golden retriever, he dashed to Selina’s side. "I heard there’s a free room on the top floor—come on, set it up for me. My buddies are all waiting outside!"
Angela was cut off mid-sentence and was fuming. She was just about to mock Luke—everyone knew you had to make reservations for Celestial Feast. What was the point of Luke asking Selina for a private room? What could she possibly do?
"Mm. Butler, give them a private room," Selina said casually, snapping Angela out of her thoughts.
Angela’s eyes widened. What did that mean? Did Selina seriously think the manager would listen to her? What a joke!
But to her shock, the manager didn’t object in the slightest. "Of course, Young Master Reid. Please wait just a moment while we prepare it for you and your friends."
Then he turned to Angela and said with a much colder tone, "Miss Morris, I’m polite to you because you’re currently a guest at Celestial Feast—but that doesn’t mean I’ll entertain every unreasonable demand you make."
Angela felt dizzy from the rage. Robinson quickly jumped in to defend her. "What do you mean unreasonable? You clearly gave the dish the boss meant for Miss Morris to Selina—"
"Huh? Are you saying the White Truffle Lobster Bisque was for Angela?" Luke cut in, looking incredulous. "Seriously? That’s ridiculous. It was obviously prepared especially for Selina."
Angela nearly laughed from how shameless Selina was being. She bit her lip, putting on a look of reluctant patience. "Young Master Luke, maybe you didn’t know—I had an appointment with the Celestial Feast owner today. That dish was a special gift for me. It’s not that I’m unwilling to let my sister try it, but..."
"Huh?" Luke’s eyes widened in disbelief, and the second-gen kids behind him all looked stunned.
Angela’s throat tightened, and for the first time, she had a bad feeling creeping in.
She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could get a word out, Luke delivered the blow.
"Miss Morris, are you seriously dumb or just pretending? You’re saying you’re friends with the owner and they invited you here today, but... are you seriously telling me you don’t know—"
He looked at Selina, then at Manager Butler, and finally settled his gaze on Angela.
"—you don’t know that Selina is the owner of Celestial Feast?"
...
Selina... is the owner of Celestial Feast?!
The words exploded like a bomb in Angela’s mind. Her vision spun, and she stumbled back, completely stunned.
She screamed, completely forgetting to maintain her sweet persona. "That’s impossible—!"
"What’s wrong with you?" Luke was completely speechless. "Literally everyone here knows Selina owns Celestial Feast. Maybe try doing a little homework before trying to scam people next time?"
The young heirs and heiresses behind him all nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, if Selina wasn’t the owner, we wouldn’t even be here."
"Luke said Selina was here today, so they could open a room for us without a reservation."
"Angela, that’s weird. Don’t you claim to be Selina’s sister? How could you not know this?"
"Wait—judging by your tone earlier, were you bragging to Selina using the line ’I’m friends with the Celestial Feast owner’? Wow. Using the owner’s name... to brag to the owner herself? That’s next-level embarrassing."
Each comment hit her like a hammer.
Angela staggered back a few more steps, her face going completely pale.
