Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'
Chapter 506: I’m Here to Report Her
CHAPTER 506: I’M HERE TO REPORT HER
With the Morris Family’s release of the design drafts, Hannah’s fame skyrocketed, and interviews and partnership offers poured in.
While it looked like Hannah was once again about to stand triumphant over Victoria’s legacy, Selina wasn’t in any hurry.
She made a phone call.
...
In recent days, the Morris Family had been basking in the spotlight.
Joe had "found" his daughter and, in high spirits, took her to pay respects to Victoria. During the visit, Angela had "accidentally" stumbled upon a stack of sketches.
These sketches turned out to be jewelry designs. The Morris Family had long wanted a slice of the jewelry industry’s astronomical profits, but with the market dominated by a few major players, even the top family in City H would find it hard to break in.
But with these designs?
Even Joe, an outsider to the field, could tell Victoria’s creations were breathtaking. With these blueprints, how could the leading jewelry houses not want to collaborate?
If they could just land the first deal, it would open the door for the Morris Family to step into the jewelry business.
So Joe wasted no time in publishing the designs.
Soon, invitations for collaboration from all over the jewelry world came pouring in.
Even Turner Group, a titan of the industry whose brand was renowned worldwide, personally called to request a partnership.
Joe was stunned. The Turner family of City N—the Turner Group that dominated the global luxury jewelry market!
Overjoyed, Joe agreed on the spot. But the Turner Group’s representative immediately asked, "May I know who the designer is?"
Joe was about to say "Victoria" when Grandma Morris stopped him.
"No. If you announce that Victoria is the designer, what if Selina decides to get involved?"
Grandma Morris was as unreasonable as ever.
"Victoria’s dead. In life she was your wife, so in death everything she left belongs to you. And Angela is her daughter too, yet she was so biased she left Angela nothing."
"Selina’s already one to side with outsiders. Do you want to make the Morris Family even more chaotic?"
Joe tried to protest, "But this is Victoria’s work..."
Grandma Morris cut him off.
"Victoria’s only heir is Selina, and Selina doesn’t even acknowledge you as her father. Why should we let someone else take the spoils?"
Flustered and indecisive, Joe asked, "Then, Mom, what do you think we should do?"
Grandma Morris exchanged a glance with Hannah.
"Why not just say the designs are Hannah’s? She’s married to you, she’s family. The blueprints came from the Morris Family anyway, and outsiders have no way of knowing who made them."
Hannah quickly put on a show of modest refusal.
"Old Madam, I can’t do that. How could I claim Victoria’s work as my own?"
Joe hesitated.
That’s when Angela chimed in, feigning concern.
"Dad, I think Grandma’s right. Even though the designs were Mom’s, given the current situation, using them to secure a deal with Turner Group would only benefit the Morris Family. I’m sure if Mom were watching from above, she’d approve."
Grandma Morris beamed.
"Joe, see how sensible your daughter is? Hannah, there’s no need to feel awkward. If Victoria’s own daughter has no objection, you shouldn’t refuse."
Hannah then gracefully accepted, "Then I’ll follow your lead."
Joe relayed his answer to Turner Group: "The designer’s name is Hannah... my wife."
On the other end, the Turner Group representative gave a cold, dismissive "Oh."
"Morris Chairman, in a few days we’ll be holding a collaboration ceremony. Please be sure to bring the original designer along."
Joe was so giddy he completely missed the chill in the man’s tone.
...
Three days later.
The design sketches credited to Joe’s wife, Hannah, exploded onto the scene, shocking the entire jewelry industry. The Turner Group officially confirmed a partnership with the Morris Family.
Turner Group even held a press conference at their headquarters, where they would sign the cooperation agreement with Joe in front of the media.
Sitting in the car, Selina rested her chin in her hand as she watched Hannah at the center of a cluster of reporters.
"Quite the spectacle," she remarked.
That woman was smiling like a victor, claiming every ounce of credit for herself.
Hannah said something to the reporters; they quickly cleared a path, allowing the Morris Family to stride proudly into the building.
Logan glanced at the time. "The press conference is about to start."
Selina unbuckled her seatbelt and reached for the door handle. "Then I’d better head in."
Logan caught her wrist. "You’re not going to wait for the Turner family to arrive first?"
Selina’s eyes gleamed with mischief. "Of course not."
A few days earlier, she had called Kevin.
Kevin, sharp-tongued and quick-tempered, had been unable to contain himself when he heard Hannah had plagiarized her mother’s designs.
"What’s the point in just exposing Hannah as a thief?" he had said bluntly. "The Morris Family will just spin it—they’ll claim they had no choice, maybe even put the blame on you, saying you forced their hand by being unreasonable."
"I say we do it this way: I’ll represent Turner Group and publicly announce that we’ll only partner with the Morris Family if you are named the lead designer on the project. That forces them into a corner—either admit Hannah’s a thief or lose the Turner Group deal. Let’s see what Joe chooses."
Truth be told, Selina was curious to see Joe’s choice herself. That was why she decided to head inside before the Turner representatives even arrived—just to watch the show unfold.
Logan’s smile softened. "Go, then. Stay safe."
Selina waved him off and slipped into the crowd of reporters, while the Turner family’s bodyguards quietly followed to make sure their young lady was well protected.
Logan’s gentle smile stayed in place until her figure disappeared into the building.
Then, it vanished.
His gaze went cold. "They’ve been stopped?"
Jack answered respectfully, "Yes. All thirteen of the Morris Family’s outbound ships have been detained."
Logan shut his eyes briefly, a flicker of impatience in his voice. "Don’t wait. Proceed."
Jack’s stomach sank. Clearly, the Morris Family’s actions had pushed his employer too far—there would be no mercy now.
The Morris Family had once been a powerful house. Even as a shadow of its former self, toppling it wouldn’t be easy.
So Logan had baited a trap.
He hadn’t expected the Morris Family to bite so quickly—nor had he expected that Selina herself had dangled bait of her own.
Two traps, closing in at once.
...
Selina walked into the Turner Group headquarters.
The Morris Family had already gone upstairs for their interviews, leaving the reporters milling around for scraps of news.
When they spotted Selina, their eyes lit up.
This was the woman who looked identical to Angela—she had to be Selina.
But why was it that, while Angela went upstairs with Joe for the signing ceremony, Selina had arrived alone?
The reporters rushed toward her.
Selina didn’t waste time.
"I’m here to report Hannah for theft."
