Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'
Chapter 602: Can’t Meet My Demands?
CHAPTER 602: CAN’T MEET MY DEMANDS?
Selina arched a brow. "Mm, sure. Then I’ll trouble you to lead the way, Aunt June."
June’s face lit up with pride. To her, Selina was admitting she was a country bumpkin. Delighted, she walked ahead like she was doing a great favor.
Just then, another group of guests entered. A server quickly stepped forward and courteously guided them. That was when June suddenly felt something was off.
All the other guests had servers showing them the way. But Selina...
The realization hit June like a slap. Her face twisted, and she snapped, "Selina, you’re treating me like a servant!"
Selina lifted her lids lazily, her voice cool. "What makes you say that, Aunt June? Weren’t you the one who insisted on leading me?"
"You—!" June choked, then grew even more furious. "Selina, you did this on purpose! I personally came to fetch you, a country hick, to give you face... and you think—"
Before she could finish, footsteps approached from behind.
A server cut her off flatly, "Ma’am, please keep your voice down."
June flushed crimson, aware of the stares around her. Embarrassed, she quickly dropped her hand from the table.
When they finally reached the private room, Hannah was already waiting. She greeted Selina with a gentle smile.
"Selina, you’re here. We’ve had our misunderstandings before, and I haven’t had the chance to explain. By coincidence, a table opened up at CPJ today, so I invited you. I hope you don’t mind?"
Selina didn’t bother hiding her indifference. "I’m already here. Isn’t it too late to ask now?"
"Forgive me, forgive me." Hannah’s smile was soft, but her eyes carried the same condescension she’d once shown Victoria. To Hannah, Victoria was always the fallen heiress, while she was the rightful Hill daughter.
Now Selina’s return meant little. Bloodline or not, in Hannah’s eyes, Selina was useless. Hannah was the one who truly ruled the Hill family’s world in City N.
So without even realizing it, she spoke from her pedestal. "Seats at CPJ are nearly impossible to get. This one is thanks to Ava—Samuel has taken her as a disciple. He gave up this spot just for us."
June smirked, glancing at Selina with smug pride. "That’s right. Our Ava is remarkable. Master Samuel is a world-class artist. Selina, you’re really lucky to benefit from her glory."
Selina only raised a brow, offering no response.
Hannah waved for menus, expecting a waiter—but the person who walked in was the manager of CPJ himself.
CPJ was backed by the Brown family, and even the manager held weight here. Offending him was unthinkable.
The manager’s eyes lit up when he saw Selina, but when she gave the slightest shake of her head, he swallowed the greeting he’d almost blurted out. Instead, he simply asked with formal respect, "What would the guests like to order?"
June assumed the deference was for her, and her chin lifted even higher. After ordering a few dishes, she turned to Selina with a sneer.
"Selina, do you need me to order for you? I’m used to Country F cuisine. I’m afraid you won’t understand the menu—it’s all in Country F. It’d be embarrassing if you couldn’t read it."
CPJ offered menus in multiple languages, but June had deliberately chosen the one written entirely in Country F, eager to see Selina humiliated.
Hannah sighed in feigned reproach. "Sister-in-law, what are you saying?"
Then, she put on a sweet smile for Selina.
"Selina, it’s fine. It’s normal if you can’t get used to Country F cuisine. After all, you come from... that kind of place. No one will laugh at you. Why don’t we switch to Country M dishes instead? Order whatever you’d like—it’s on me tonight."
The manager clenched his fists.
Wait a minute—what were they even saying? Their young lady, a country bumpkin?
Selina, however, remained perfectly calm. "So I can order whatever I want?"
Just then, Aaron, having rushed over upon receiving word, stepped inside. He looked around, a bit surprised not to see Logan, and frowned. "Mr. Reid only sent you?"
He had spotted Logan’s assistant, Jack, sitting there casually eating melon and sipping tea. Jack nearly spit his drink out when Aaron addressed him.
Aaron was clearly displeased with Logan. In his mind, Logan wasn’t taking his sister seriously enough. Hannah and June were bullying Selina, and even if Logan was busy, he shouldn’t have just sent an assistant.
"Uh..." Jack was speechless for a moment.
Seriously, Young Master Hill, if only you took a peek inside yourself...
Of course, Jack didn’t dare say that aloud. He cleared his throat. "Don’t worry. Madam won’t be the one getting bullied."
Aaron’s frown deepened. "In City A, I know people wouldn’t dare trouble her for Logan’s sake. But this is City N..."
Jack gave a short laugh. "But CPJ Restaurant is Madam’s place, sir."
Strictly speaking, CPJ was still under the Brown Family’s name. CPJ was one of the gifts the old lady had waved her hand and bestowed upon her.
Aaron froze for a moment, uncharacteristically at a loss.
His sister... was this capable?
He hesitated a second, then didn’t go inside. Meanwhile, the conversation within moved on.
June burst out laughing at Selina’s question. "Of course, Selina. Whatever you want to eat, I’ll buy it for you."
Selina gave a lazy hum. "Then I’ll have the Osmanthus Fish."
Osmanthus Fish was CPJ’s signature dish. The name sounded simple, but preparing it was painstaking. It required rare golden osmanthus blossoms, the freshest wild perch, and countless precious ingredients. Only three portions were served each day. And since it was already late, the dish was definitely sold out.
So when Selina asked for it, June blinked, then laughed uproariously.
"Selina, I know you’ve never been to CPJ before, but you don’t have to be this ignorant! Everyone knows Osmanthus Fish is limited to three servings a day. You think you can just waltz in and order it? Look at your status!"
June always saw Selina as a bumpkin. Even if she had returned to the Hill Family, how could she ever compare to Ava, who had been raised there?
"My status?" Selina’s voice was cool. "Mrs. June, if you can stand here shrieking at the top of your lungs, what exactly gives you the right to question mine?"
By birth, Selina was the Hill Family’s true heiress. June, on the other hand, was merely the wife of the Hill Family’s adopted son.
"You—!"
"Selina!" Hannah quickly cut in, her tone full of forced patience. "Selina, order something else. That dish really isn’t available."
Selina arched a brow. "Oh? So you aren’t able to meet my request."
