CHAPTER 226: ANTICLIMACTIC

WOW.

Sohee left out a soft gasp when he saw the nursery room that his in-laws had prepared for Kim Woochul and Kim Woosung.

On the other hand, his mother-in-law and father-in-law were babysitting the twins.

His in-laws volunteered to take care of Kim Woochul and Kim Woosung while Sohee and Kim Heedo were checking the nursery room.

They just want a reason to monopolize their grandchildren.

Anyway, the nursery room was big, and every single piece of furniture was aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Most of the toys are also made of wood.

Very sophisticated.

But I think my babies need more color in their room.

Sohee didn’t want to be labelled as a ’beige mom,’ after all.

I just hope my in-laws won’t get offended.

The dream house that Sohee wanted was still being built.

Hence, instead of returning to their old apartment or living in Kim Heedo’s penthouse, the two of them decided to live with his in-laws.

We want to be with our family since I need help with the babies.

Of course, his husband could hire a team of elite house helpers and nannies.

But I want to be a hands-on mom, and I want my babies to grow close to our family.

President Kang Nari and Vice Chairman Kim Dohan lent them the annex building.

The entire annex building was a two-story house connected to the main mansion.

"Did you like the nursery room, Hyung?" Kim Heedo asked, smiling. "Eomma and Appa personally picked most of the furniture here. They even hired an interior designer to make sure that the room is pretty and safe for our babies."

Aww.

My in-laws really went all-out, huh?

"I love it, Heedo-ya," Sohee said, smiling. "I love that Woochul and Woosung each have their own things. Of course, we’ll teach them how to share and be generous. But I don’t want them to live the way I did. Most of the stuff that I had as a child was hand-me-downs from my relatives. There was even a time when I had to wait for my cousins to get tired of their toys so I could play with them."

Sympathy crossed Kim Heedo’s eyes, and then he gathered Sohee in his arms. "Don’t worry, Hyung. I’ll work harder so you and our babies will live a comfortable life forever."

"Thank you, Heedo-ya."

His husband just smiled and kissed him on the forehead.

Sweet.

"But Heedo-ya?"

"Yes, Hyung?"

"Will our babies sleep here?"

"I guess so. There are several baby cameras installed in this room," Kim Heedo explained. "That was how we were raised, actually. Since Eomma and Appa were always busy when we were babies, we were often left in the nursery room while the nannies kept an eye on us through the baby cameras."

Oh.

That made sense.

I heard it’s normal in other countries to have babies, even newborn ones, sleep in a different room from their parents.

However...

"I want Woochul and Woosung to sleep in the same room and on the same bed as us," Sohee said firmly. "It’s normal for average Korean families to do that. You may not know it because chaebols seem to be raised differently, but most Korean families would get a big bumper bed and sleep there with their babies. Can we do that?"

"Of course, Hyung. If that’s what you want," Kim Heedo agreed casually, and then he pulled out his phone. "Let me search what a bumper bed is first."

It was just a big mattress with padded bumpers around the edges.

It’s to keep the space safe for babies to sleep or play.

"Oh, so this is what a bumper bed is. I think the largest one in the market will not be enough for us since I’m pretty tall," Kim Heedo said, lifting his head from his phone to look at Sohee. "Let’s get a customized bumper bed, Hyung— one that’s big enough for the four of us."

Sohee beamed, and then he nodded. "Sure. But is it alright? Your parents raised you in a different way..."

"Hyung, Woochul and Woosung are our babies. My parents are there to guide us if we need help. But they won’t interfere with how we raise our children as long as we’re not harming them in any way."

Oh.

"I’m glad to know that," Sohee said, relieved. "I love my in-laws, but I’d hate it if they interfere with how we raise our children in every little thing. Of course, I know that your parents aren’t like that. But I’ve seen a lot of soap operas before where the mother-in-law was evil, so..."

"Hyung, that’s why I’m glad you’ve stopped watching those over-the-top dramas. Just watch healing shows for now, okay?"

"Sure," Sohee said, and then he got serious. "Now that we’ve checked the nursery room, can we go to our room and talk?"

"Hyung..."

"You changed the topic when I brought up Jin Taejoon while I was in the hospital. Something happened, right?"

"Yes, Hyung."

"Tell me," Sohee said, crossing his arms over his chest. "I’m no longer pregnant, so I can take any news now— no matter how shocking it is."

Kim Heedo sighed before spilling the beans. "Jin Taejoon is dead, Hyung."

Oh.

***

"THEY MADE it look like it was suicide, but according to Shin Kang Ahjussi’s investigation, Jin Taejoon was killed while in prison."

Sohee took a deep breath while listening to Kim Heedo.

Right now, the two of them were having coffee and snacks in their bedroom.

Just like the nursery room, their bedroom was also fancy and very aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

I have to step up my game once our dream house is finished.

"Are we sure that Jin Taejoon is already dead?" Sohee asked warily. "It’s not like I don’t trust Mr. Shin’s abilities. But I’ve seen so many soap operas where the villains ’died,’ only to come back alive in the next season. Since Jin Taejoon’s family works in the underworld, it would have been easy for them to fake his death."

"It was his own father who hired an inmate to kill Jin Taejoon."

Aigoo.

"Apparently, his father wasn’t happy when Jin Taejoon asked his subordinate to kill Jin Taewook, aka Sanha."

Ah, right.

Sohee frowned when he remembered that Kim Heedo almost died because Jin Taejoon asked his subordinate to kill Sanha and Lee Junsu.

Tsk.

"But the final nail in the coffin was when Jin Taejoon hired Sanha’s inmates to kill his half-brother."

"Jin Taejoon really hated Sanha-ssi, huh?"

"That seems to be the case," Kim Heedo said while nodding. "Their father probably realized that Jin Taejoon wouldn’t stop until Sanha was dead. So, he chose to protect Sanha over his oldest son."

"Aigoo."

"And it’s probably because Jin Taejoon was a lost case anyway," Kim Heedo added, shrugging. "They knew that we were going to extract our revenge against Jin Taejoon. I heard that the SG Group had a grudge against Jin Taejoon, too."

Oh.

SG Group was the company owned by Song Sihyuk’s family— and Song Sihyuk was Lim Garam’s husband.

Who’s in prison.

"But why?" Sohee asked curiously. "I thought Song Sihyuk already knew that it was Lee Junsu behind his son’s kidnapping?"

"Well, he also found out that it was Jin Taejoon who sold the information to the black market about Song Sihyuk being a Hyper-Dominant Alpha."

Aigoo.

"Jin Taejoon’s father probably gave up on Jin Taejoon because he had not shown an ounce of remorse," Kim Heedo said, sighing while shaking his head. "Hyung, it’s pretty anticlimactic, isn’t it? Had I known Jin Taejoon’s father would kill his oldest son for the youngest, I would have extracted our revenge..."

"Yes, I agree that Jin Taejoon’s death was pretty anticlimactic," Sohee said while nodding. "But, on the other hand, I think Jin Taejoon suffered a lot knowing that his own father killed him to protect the half-brother that he hated all his life."

"Oh, you have a point, Hyung."

"Am I a bad person for not feeling any empathy for Jin Taejoon? Even though he’s already dead, I still can’t find it in my heart to forgive him."

"Not at all, Hyung," Kim Heedo said firmly while shaking his head. "That person hurt you several times. You don’t have to feel bad for him just because he’s dead."

That was actually consoling.

I want to be a good person because I don’t want my children to get bad karma because of me. So, I feel relieved that Kim Heedo thinks not forgiving my attacker isn’t me being a bad person.

"Are you alright, Hyung?"

"Yeah, I’m fine," Sohee said, nodding. "But I want to see our babies now, Heedo-ya. I want to cleanse my mind by looking at their pretty faces."

Kim Heedo smiled and nodded, then he extended his hand to him. "Let’s go, Hyung."

***

HYUNG...

Kim Heedo hurried home that day because Park Sohee had called him earlier, crying.

When he got to their bedroom, he saw his husband still crying while Kim Hanhae and Kim Haewon were taking care of Kim Woochul and Kim Woosung, who were also crying loudly.

My husband and my babies are crying...

"Hyung, what’s wrong?" Heedo asked worriedly, sitting beside Park Sohee. "Are you hurt?"

"I’m not lactating, Heedo-ya," Park Sohee said in a cracked voice, tears rolling down his cheeks silently. "Our babies are crying because they’re hungry, but I can’t produce breast milk for them..."

NOTE: Lim Garam and Song Sihyuk’s story was only supposed to be a side story. But the draft I wrote was too long, and I felt like they deserved their own story.

That’s how I ended up writing Secretly Married to a Chaebol Alpha.

You can check it out if you’re interested.

But it’s a toxic story, and Song Sihyuk is really a crazy bastard.

You’ve been warned. ^_^
