Martial Cultivator
Chapter 822: Rampant Slaughter
The two great demons struck first. The one whose true body was a massive monstrous bird unleashed countless feathers like flying swords, launching indiscriminate attacks, not even caring whether there was another great demon in the snowy field.
Meanwhile, the purple sheep did everything it could to hold Chen Chao back, not allowing this young martial artist to leave the battlefield.
It could be said that whether it was the purple sheep or the monstrous bird, both now carried the resolve to die, their demand being nothing less than perishing together with Chen Chao.
As for the other two great demons, after exchanging a glance, each leaped into the sky. The two slowly nodded, and streams of black threads spread from their fingertips, crisscrossing in the air. Very soon, a dense net was formed.
As they looked at each other again, both extended their palms. Not far away, several black pillars that reached the heavens descended from the sky, plunging deep into the earth!
That massive net then spread outward, linking with those black pillars that reached the heavens.
The giant net was complete.
One of the great demons spoke indifferently, “I will suppress this thing. He will never leave.”
Before the words faded, a gigantic beast hide burst forth from his body, instantly covering this place.
The beast hide was entirely blood-red, as if flames were flowing across it. Once it appeared, the flowing flames poured down unceasingly, fusing with those black threads, creating an extremely strange scene.
It was as if, high above in the sky, a sea of fire burned into existence out of nowhere.
There were far too many exotic beasts in the Demon Realm. Especially after countless centuries of fusions, who knew how many new species had emerged. This beast hide before their eyes came from an exotic beast known as the Heaven Devouring Fire Demon. It was said that the Heaven Devouring Fire Demon carried the bloodline of the now-extinct fire qilin. The fire qilin was one of the oldest exotic species to exist among the demon race. But such a terrifying bloodline emphasized purity too much, and the species gradually dwindled. By now, it had already been extinct for many years, completely vanished from the Demon Realm.
The former master of this beast hide had once nearly set foot at the end of Nepenthe. But in the end, his secluded cultivation went awry, and his body perished with his Dao dissipating. Only then was this beast hide stripped from his corpse.
The Heaven Devouring Fire Demon’s hide had powerful effects. Not only could it trap people, it could also affect the cultivation realm of anyone enveloped by it.
This stemmed from the Heaven Devouring Fire Demon’s innate divine ability. Through its daily cultivation over long years, that innate divine ability merged into its body, and in the end, attached itself to this beast hide, granting it such effects.
Looking at that beast hide, the other great demon nodded, then transformed into a streak of black light and crashed down toward the ground.
At the same time, another enormous figure appeared on the ground.
It was an exotic beast covered entirely in silvery-white scales like refined steel, its form resembling a wolf.
......
......
The purple sheep and Chen Chao collided several times in succession. At this moment, that pair of demonic horns was already covered in cracks, and afterward, they were completely smashed apart by a punch from Chen Chao.
The purple sheep’s head was drenched in blood, appearing utterly miserable.
In the aspect of physical body that this great demon prided himself on the most, Chen Chao had utterly crushed him. Yet at the same time, Chen Chao was engulfed by countless feathers like flying swords.
Those feathers tore open Chen Chao’s black shirt with ease, but that was all. The subsequent flying swords could not pierce through his body. However, their sheer number left him no room to avoid them. After withstanding several dozen strikes, visible wounds began appearing one after another across the surface of his body, fresh blood slowly seeping out. But the cuts were not deep, and many of the wounds, once they appeared, quickly returned to normal.
This scene was fully taken in by the heavily wounded purple sheep. Looking at it, his expression turned incomparably grim.
Even he could only feel shaken at the boundless vitality of the person before him.
Inside Chen Chao’s body, the qi that had long been refined flowed slowly, circulating ceaselessly through his countless acupoints and meridians.
Chen Chao glanced at the purple sheep great demon before him, raised his brows slightly, and knew that he no longer had any fighting strength. But at this moment, he was indeed trapped here.
He raised his head. The flowing flames in midair, along with the heat they brought, made him somewhat uncomfortable.
The monstrous bird circled endlessly above, countless feathers shooting down like an inexhaustible torrent. Chen Chao tightened his grip on Cloud Mud and exhaled a long turbid breath.
He slashed once, cutting apart the feathers once again shooting toward him. Narrowing his eyes slightly, Chen Chao had just leaped up when a figure fell from the heavens, slamming him heavily into the ground.
Dust flew all over the place.
When the smoke cleared, within a giant pit, only a massive white wolf could be seen pressing a young martial artist in tattered clothes beneath its front paw.
The young martial artist lifted his head and looked at the enormous wolf’s head. Though he seemed at a disadvantage, he did not panic in the slightest. Instead, he smiled, pressed one hand against that massive wolf paw, and forcibly pushed it aside.
Chen Chao stood back up, lamenting with vicissitudes of emotion, “Quite the line-up.”
“Unfortunately, I'm not in the mood to waste any more time with you guys.”
Chen Chao took a deep breath, sheathed his saber, then rubbed his palm.
He had little desire to draw his saber again, because there was no real need. From the outside, it looked like he had been in a fierce battle with these beings. But in truth, despite their numbers, they were still lacking.
The purple sheep great demon already had no strength to fight again. As for this wolf before him and the monstrous bird in the sky, Chen Chao did not consider them troublesome.
As for trapping him.
It was fine to trap him for a moment, but could they trap him for a lifetime?
Thinking this, his figure moved, like a gust of wind blowing to the front of the enormous white wolf, before slamming out a heavy punch.
A faint white vapor rose from his fist. It looked ordinary, but as it swung, a terrifying surge of qi burst forth from the fist and crashed toward the white wolf.
At the same time, the white wolf opened its massive maw wide and spat out a dreadful sphere of qi.
When the two collided, the white wolf only managed to hold on for a moment before the qi sphere shattered. Its entire body was sent hurtling backward, and a mouthful of blood spurted from its jaws.
Chen Chao lightly tapped his toes, darted forward, and landed on the white wolf’s back. He stomped down heavily, and with a sharp crack, the white wolf’s spine was crushed beneath his step.
Then Chen Chao leaped upward, crashing into the barrier in the heavens.
Beneath that beast hide, it was as if flames were burning in midair.
Chen Chao plunged into the sea of fire!
......
......
The great demon suspended in midair instantly sensed a terrifying surge of qi striking against the barrier he had laid. His expression shifted, and streams of qi from his body continuously flowed into it.
Relentlessly reinforcing that barrier.
But after a moment, blood was already beginning to seep from the corner of his mouth.
He glanced at the monstrous bird hovering in midair.
The latter beat its twin wings, raising a great gale across heaven and earth. The wind fed the fire, and in an instant, the blaze here grew even fiercer.
Yet as the sound of shattering rang out, a figure still burst forth from the sea of fire.
One hand suddenly seized the monstrous bird’s massive talon and yanked down hard.
The bird lost its balance and could only beat its wings wildly.
But soon one of its massive wings was caught by a great hand. Chen Chao gave a slight smile, then pulled forcefully, directly tearing the wing off.
Blood rained across the skies!
