Marvel: Infinite Personalities
Chapter 234: Second Wish Journey
Inside the dark underground fortress, the mutants were busy. Some were tinkering with strange machines, while others sparred, practicing their powers.
"Professor, professor…"
A voice pulled Raymond out of his sleep. When he opened his eyes, he saw a seductive woman with bright green eyes calling him.
"Clarice?" He spoke the name without thinking, his tone carrying doubt.
The woman in front of him looked almost exactly like his younger sister Clarice, as if carved from the same mold, but she was older—around her twenties.
"It's me, professor. Are you alright?" The green-eyed woman asked with worry.
It really was Clarice… Raymond's gaze grew complicated.
He didn't think she was lying, because this was no longer his own world. He had entered a parallel one through Professor's wish journey—the world of X-Men: Days of Future Past.
This was a Marvel world with only mutants and ordinary humans, no other superpowered beings.
The year should be 2023, and in this world, Clarice was indeed ten years older than the one he knew.
"Professor, what's the situation now?" Raymond asked in his mind, remembering the purpose of this journey.
This wish journey had cost him 2,000 universal points.
Luckily, he had gained 1,000 points at once when joining the Hell's Angels, otherwise, he couldn't have afforded it.
Like before, upon entering this world, the system gave him the basics.
The wish goal this time was to change the fate of mutants being hunted down. The mission time limit was one year—much longer than when he completed Deadshot's wish.
But that was expected. Deadshot only wanted to become Gotham's hero, a struggle limited to one city.
Professor's wish, however, meant standing against all of humanity.
The situation here was simple: the world was split into humans and mutants.
On the mutant side, though some small resistance groups remained, they were nothing compared to humanity's forces.
Mutants lived like hunted rats, always fleeing. Whenever their locations were exposed, human forces sent Sentinel robots to wipe them out in blood.
As for fighting back? Not a chance.
Even with Professor and Magneto's small team, they would have been wiped out long ago if not for Kitty Pryde and Clarice's unique powers.
Kitty could send someone's consciousness back through time, giving them glimpses of the future to predict ambushes.
Clarice could teleport the group instantly to safety.
One controlled time, the other space—and even together, they could only delay the inevitable.
That was how dire the mutant's situation had become.
From his link with Professor's sub-personality, Raymond learned their small group was searching for other surviving mutants.
They hoped to save them and grow stronger, enough to keep resisting.
But the X-Men's headquarters had fallen ages ago, and the Cerebro chamber had long since been destroyed.
Now, the Professor could only search area by area for survivors—no longer able to scan the world at once.
This had already led the human side to set several traps by using captured mutants as bait.
If not for Kitty Pryde, those traps would have ended them many times over.
But that wasn't even the worst part. What truly worried them was that the humans seemed to have figured out that someone in their group had the power to see the future, based on how often they escaped just in time.
Even though they could still rely on Kitty's foresight and Clarice's teleportation, the humans' ambushes were becoming more precise.
Twice already, the humans had correctly predicted their escape points. By casting a wide net and setting traps in several possible locations, they had successfully caught them.
Those two times cost them dearly—they couldn't escape unscathed anymore and lost at least one-third of their companions.
This made it clear: if things kept going this way, it was only a matter of time before they were wiped out.
Their numbers kept shrinking, while the humans grew stronger with advancing technology and ever-increasing Sentinel robots.
The comparison was obvious—the mutants' situation would only get worse.
So they came up with a desperate plan to solve the problem once and for all—
Go back to the past.
Using Kitty Pryde's ability, they would send Wolverine's consciousness back decades before the Sentinel program began, to stop it at its root and rewrite history.
The Sentinels existed largely because of Mystique—Raven's DNA was used to develop technology that allowed them to mimic different mutant powers.
That adaptability was what made them terrifying.
Magneto was one of the strongest level-four mutants, easily able to take on groups by himself.
But against Sentinels, his power became useless. The robots could shift into non-metal forms and create counters to his abilities.
Mutants were powerful, but not perfect. Almost all below level five had weaknesses.
Sentinels could target those weaknesses, changing their design on the spot to counter them.
So while each Sentinel's base strength was only about level three, mutants below level four stood no chance at all.
And even the strongest were eventually overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
In short, no matter what, mutants always died.
Before, the resistance still clung to small tricks and blind hope.
But as humans grew stronger, they finally faced reality—there was no surviving this. They had to take the ultimate gamble.
Still, before carrying out the time-travel mission, they planned to gather as many remaining mutants as possible.
Because while Kitty helped Logan go back in time, she couldn't be disturbed. If the process was interrupted, the mission would fail completely—and there would be no second chance.
They had to build up every bit of strength to protect Kitty and guarantee success.
Even one extra person fighting could buy them a few seconds, and those seconds might decide everything.
Raymond had arrived at exactly this point in time—when the team was gathering the last scattered survivors. Professor's sub-personality had been doing regional searches.
Clarice had likely seen his body twitch in sleep and came to check on him, worried about his health.
After all, in this world, Professor was already an old man. Constantly fleeing left his body weak, so it was natural for him to be in poor condition.
After quickly figuring out the situation, Raymond shook his head at Clarice and said:
"I'm fine, don't worry—"
Then he added, "Could you step outside for a moment? I need to handle some personal matters."
"Alright." Clarice didn't press further. She nodded, left the room, and closed the door behind her.
Once she was gone, Raymond summoned two shadow clones and moved Professor's sub-personality and Megatron's sub-personality into them.
Then, using Transformation, he returned to his true form. Casually, he crushed the old wheelchair into a ball and tossed it into the corner.
Unlike last time in the DC world—when he had to act under Deadshot's identity to build his reputation—this time was different.
Now, the goal was only to help Professor's sub-personality change the fate of mutants.
As for what face he should use to handle this matter, it really didn't matter at all.
"Do you want me to step out and come back in?" Raymond asked Professor's sub-personality.
He was worried the professor might have trouble explaining his sudden appearance to the others. But Professor's sub-personality only smiled and shook his head.
"No need for that."
"Alright then, let's go. Time to open a new age for your mutants…" Raymond pushed his wheelchair out of the room.
"This time, I'll be troubling you." Professor's sub-personality turned his head and gave his thanks.
"You are me, I am you. No need to act like strangers." Raymond shrugged.
The professor gave a small nod and didn't say more.
Though it might look strange to outsiders, to Raymond and his many sub-personalities, most of them treated each other as allies.
"By the way, how do you plan to handle the X-Men after this?" Raymond suddenly asked.
Before deciding to strike against the Church of Darkness, he had chosen to start this wish journey.
One reason was to earn more universal points. The other was to use this chance to strengthen his real body.
The stronger his true body became, the longer he could sustain gold sub-personalities.
At the moment, if he switched to Jiro, he could only last a little over a minute.
If he ran into an overwhelmingly strong foe, even escaping might be impossible.
So this wish journey also carried a second purpose—serious training.
If he could extend the Gold personality switch to three or even five minutes, he would no longer fear even the toughest enemies below Skyfather-level.
With the Ancient One guarding Earth, Skyfather beings couldn't descend in person anyway. Against anyone below that, Raymond wouldn't back down.
Before starting this journey, he had withdrawn all shadow clones of his sub-personalities, absorbing their memories. From them, he saw that Professor's sub-personality had already settled things with the Sage.
So he asked this question now.
"Next? Of course, I'll form a new power—bring all mutants of that world together!"
Professor's sub-personality sighed. "The biggest problem with mutants is their lack of unity… In this world, only under the Sentinels' oppression were they forced to unite for survival."
"In that other world, without such pressure, they remained divided. The X-Men, the Brotherhood, even the Hellfire Club—none of them matter. They only deepen our weakness."
Raymond raised a brow. "So you plan to wipe out all the current mutant groups?"
"Don't use words like wipe out. It makes me sound like the villain." The professor gave a bitter smile.
"Hero or villain, it doesn't matter." Raymond replied casually.
The world was never simply black or white.
In this one, who were the villains—the humans or the mutants?
It all depended on which side you stood. To each, the other was the enemy.
By now, even Professor's heart had changed. He no longer saw humans as his own people, no longer tried to play peacemaker.
That was what set him apart from the Charles of Raymond's home world.
He might not kill humans for no reason, but if it became necessary, he would never hesitate.
As they talked, they entered the underground base's main hall.
Many mutants noticed Raymond's unfamiliar face. Curious, they glanced at him, but seeing him chatting with Professor, they held their tongues.
The professor didn't explain. Instead, he ordered the others to call everyone for a meeting.
Soon, all the surviving members of their small team had gathered.
"Charles, who's this?" Magneto arrived first, his eyes settling directly on Raymond.
The professor smiled at Raymond, letting him introduce himself.
"Magneto… My name is Raymond. A pleasure to meet you." Raymond smiled politely.
Just then, a strange-looking mutant from Magneto's side walked over and whispered something in his ear.
Magneto's expression instantly darkened, his eyes sharp with killing intent as he glared at Raymond.
"You're not a mutant?!"
The words hit like thunder.
Every mutant in the room froze. Faces hardened, some turned pale. Instinctively, several stepped back, raising their guard!
