Jane Foster felt like her brain was about to crash.

Or perhaps it had already started malfunctioning ever since she accidentally stepped out of a rundown apartment hallway and stumbled into an anomalous space. From that moment on, her mind had been struggling to keep up with reality. Right now, it was groaning under the weight of sheer confusion, desperately trying to make sense of the situation.

Never in her life had she experienced anything this bizarre—not even dating a self-proclaimed god had prepared her for this. Ever since she entered that alternate dimension and had a swirling red substance injected into her body, her life had been a runaway train, speeding out of control without brakes. And now... it seemed like the train had finally reached its destination.

"Five, three, seven..."

She had no idea whether this was a good ending or a bad one—but it was an ending nonetheless. She was about to get off this crazy ride.

And the "high-tech freak" standing in front of her right now looked like the courteous station attendant, ready to help a derailed passenger disembark.

That "high-tech freak" was glowing with brilliant blue light, his V-shaped visor gleaming with crimson energy as he engaged in battle with a group of—what had he called them? Oh yes—Dark Elves.

Jane had to admit one thing: this "tech freak" was incredible.

The repulsor blasts from his palms were relentless and unerring. Every shot he fired hit its mark with deadly precision, striking down the agile Dark Elves no matter how fast they moved or how they tried to dodge. His blasts sealed off every route of escape, turning the Elves into dust before they could even scream.

Suddenly, Jane found herself comparing this mysterious warrior to her hammer-wielding ex-boyfriend. And frankly, her godly ex paled in comparison.

The dazzling blue light lit up her face, and a phrase popped into her mind:

"I alone am an army."

After mowing down a large number of Dark Elves, a few finally managed to break through and reach Gene. They lunged at him with gleaming blades, kicking up clouds of dust in their ferocious charge. The whirlwind of sand momentarily obscured the battlefield, engulfing Gene in the chaos.

But Gene's V-shaped visor flickered.

Enhanced Vision: Activated.

To him, the dust no longer existed. A shimmering golden magical disc appeared in his left hand. With his right arm, he intercepted a deadly blade without flinching. The weapon struck his arm—yet not a scratch was left. Meanwhile, his left-hand disc absorbed another Elf's strike and spun like a vortex, shredding the weapon into fragments.

Unfortunately for Jane, she happened to be standing directly between one of the Dark Elves and Gene. She could feel the icy edge of the blade slicing through the air, coming straight for her skull.

In a split second, Gene grabbed her arm and yanked her up from the ground. He swung a brutal kick that sent the Dark Elf hurtling backward, airborne like a ragdoll. Gene aimed, and a concentrated beam of blue energy zipped through the air, vaporizing the creature in an instant.

More Elves charged from behind, screaming as they ran toward Gene.

He gently lowered Jane to the ground and said coldly,

"Stay close to me. Don't move an inch. If you stray, your fate won't be any better than theirs."

Jane froze, trembling at his warning. She nestled next to him like a frightened puppy, fully aware now of just how powerful this man was. Without his protection, she wouldn't last three seconds.

Gene formed hand seals rapidly, and a pitch-black void opened in front of him. Pale flames erupted from the darkness—Hellfire from Mephisto's infernal dimension.

The flames, bone-white and scalding like molten oil, surged across the ground like a living carpet. They devoured the battlefield, reaching for the horizon. The moment the Dark Elves touched the Hellfire, they collapsed, howling in agony. The fire licked their flesh, charred their skin, melted their bones—and finally reduced them to ash, scattered on the wind.

From within the hellish flame, Mephisto's voice rose,

"You little brat, how dare yo—"

But Gene cut him off coldly.

"Shut up, Mephisto."

"Ugh…" Mephisto nearly choked on his rage. He wanted to say more, but Gene had already sealed the void.

Jane Foster sat frozen, wide-eyed in shock.

Had she just watched an entire Dark Elf squad be incinerated by demonic fire?

Suddenly, a gust of wind interrupted her dazed thoughts. It whipped through her hair and rustled her clothes. She looked up instinctively—and her pupils shrank in fear.

A black cross-shaped rift had torn through the sky. An ancient, obsidian alien ship descended through the breach, casting a massive shadow that blotted out the clouds. Crimson energy pulsed along its hull, converging at the center like a breathing heart—glowing with an ominous rhythm.

From the belly of the ship, a new Dark Elf squad disembarked.

At their head stood a tall figure with half his face pale as a corpse and the other half painted pitch black. His long silver-white hair was tied into a braid that hung down his back. His stride was calm, steady, and radiated supreme confidence—like a king surveying his domain.

Malekith, the lord of the Dark Elves, had arrived.

And this time, the real war was about to begin.
