CHAPTER 34: CHAPTER 034: FERRIS WHEEL ABLAZE! GWEN’S UNLUCKY DAY!
Lorien’s words made Wanda instantly turn her head, locking her gaze firmly on his eyes.
It was as if two invisible threads of affection were entwined between them.
"You... mm—"
Lorien had just opened his mouth when Wanda’s passion took over, silencing him completely.
Lorien: ???
What’s going on?
This was the second time!
Why was he always the passive one?
Not that... he minded. Ahem.
For a moment, his words never made it out. The two were already locked in a heated exchange, lips clashing with audible intensity.
And this time, it was different.
Wanda had taken the initiative—right in front of several people!
Unlike last time, she didn’t care anymore whether she was a superhero or a member of the Avengers.
Right now, she just wanted to be a girl in love, savoring the sweetness of romance.
And... Lorien’s lips.
...
After several seconds of battle, Lorien was the first to push her away.
"Tsk~ There are too many people here. You’re a superhero."
"I don’t care." Wanda’s enchanting eyes shimmered with a spring-like softness. "I’m just an ordinary person—one who happens to have a few special abilities."
Good grief.
She’d learned that from him.
Back then, he had said he was "unique." Now she was saying she was "special."
"Alright, I’ll tell you how we’re going to ride the Ferris wheel." Lorien reached out and lightly brushed her cheek with his hand.
Leaning closer to her ear, he whispered, "Use your Chaos Magic to make someone open it for us."
Wanda’s eyes lit up, but she glanced at the Ferris wheel again and asked hesitantly...
"But they said the Ferris wheel was under maintenance, and there’s no one on it."
"No, that’s just an excuse." Lorien shook his head. "By law, large equipment like Ferris wheels has to undergo routine maintenance every so often. But the legally required interval is too short, and frequent maintenance costs a lot.
So they claim it’s under maintenance to keep people from riding, pretending the work’s been done. In reality, the real maintenance happens in the off-season—they’d never do it at a time like this. This is just to skirt the law."
Wanda’s eyes lit with sudden understanding.
"Damn it!" She clenched her teeth, glaring at the Ferris wheel in anger.
Lorien added, "Of course, this isn’t the fault of the staff. They’re just following orders.
So once we get on, use your magic to block the glass so it’s only see-through from the inside, like the windows on my Ferrari. That way we can enjoy the ride, and the staff won’t get fired over it."
Wanda nodded in agreement.
But before casting her magic again, she took Lorien’s hand, gazing intently into his eyes.
"Lorien, you really are good—so good. You know how to respect people, even an ordinary worker, and you think about the consequences for them. That’s one of the reasons I like you. You’re... irresistible."
These were her true feelings. From the very first time she met Lorien, she had felt a strong sense of kinship toward him because of his abilities. Then, through countless little moments in daily life, that feeling had slowly grown into affection.
Faced with what was almost a confession, Lorien neither avoided it like a Japanese manga protagonist nor lunged forward like an American comic hero. Instead, he reached up to gently caress Wanda’s cheek, meeting her gaze.
"Wanda, you’re not like the others. Most superheroes have an obsession—one thing they care about above all else. But you’re different. You just want to live happily and peacefully. That’s why I value you. You live for yourself."
They both fell silent for a moment. Wanda’s eyes only grew more entranced. She pressed her cheek firmly against his hand.
"We think alike," she said softly. "That’s how I fell in love with you."
Without wasting another second, Wanda pulled Lorien by the hand to the staff at the entrance.
The man started to speak, but Wanda lifted her left hand and made a subtle gesture. Scarlet Chaos Magic seeped into his mind.
The next moment, he opened the gate and politely said, "Please, go ahead."
Wanda smiled and stepped inside with Lorien.
They entered one of the Ferris wheel’s cabins. As soon as the door closed, Wanda tapped on the glass. In an instant, it turned into one-way glass—clear from the inside, opaque from the outside.
With everything set, the Ferris wheel began to move, the cabin slowly rising.
It was eight o’clock at night in New York. The city below glittered with lights, and as they ascended, their view kept expanding. The Ferris wheel reached nearly 200 meters at its highest point, making it the largest in the city.
Hand in hand, Wanda and Lorien sat together, taking in the night view of New York and the distant horizon.
When they were almost at the top, Wanda turned her head, her gaze lingering on his eyes, nose, and lips.
Lorien knew—if he stayed passive now, he couldn’t call himself a man.
Without a word, he cupped the back of her head and pulled her in, kissing her firmly.
"Mmm~!"
...
At that same moment, below the Northern Tower—
Gwen: Why aren’t they back yet?
