Masked Flirt: He's My Equal, She's My Match
Chapter 70 - 69: Sole Investor and Learning Ability
CHAPTER 70: CHAPTER 69: SOLE INVESTOR AND LEARNING ABILITY
Charlotte Shaw absentmindedly returned to the set, her mind constantly pondering what had just happened.
She particularly liked the script they were negotiating, but the director was a newcomer. Large investments were unattainable, and small ones weren’t enough to start filming.
Her agent, Katherine Show, walked into the lounge, noticing her thoughtful expression, and became curious.
"What are you thinking about?"
Charlotte snapped back to reality. "I just went out to meet someone, and they said they want to invest in the film ’Ten Years As One Year.’
Katherine’s eyes lit up, and she happily said, "That’s great! With an investor, the director can start filming soon."
"But," Charlotte hesitated slightly, "they want to be the sole investor."
The words fell.
Katherine frowned, touching her chin thoughtfully.
Finally, she smiled, "Talk to the director. I think he won’t refuse."
After all, the movie had been delayed for several months due to funding issues. If they still hoped to release it during the Chinese New Year, he would definitely accept this investor.
Charlotte looked hesitant, "But wouldn’t it offend those who have already invested?"
Upon hearing this.
Katherine smiled, "That’s something the director should consider, not you."
There’s no way she would let Charlotte do something that offends people.
...
After a day of filming ended, Charlotte, accompanied by Katherine, went to the Drunken Aroma Lodge. Opening the private room, they found that someone had already arrived.
"Director Jian, hello."
Charlotte greeted him politely.
He chuckled and waved, "Didn’t I tell you there’s no need to be so formal? Come, sit down."
"One should never forget their manners," Charlotte smiled.
After the three of them ordered food, they looked at each other in silence.
Director Jian took a sip of alcohol, raised an eyebrow, "You mentioned on the phone that you have something about the movie to discuss with me?"
"Yes," Charlotte took out a bank card from her bag and placed it in front of him.
Her action made him frown. He tapped his finger on the card, speaking in a deep voice, "What does this mean?"
Upon hearing him, Charlotte realized he might have misunderstood, and she quickly explained.
"Someone wants to invest, and there’s a hundred million in this card."
The words dropped.
Both Director Jian and Katherine were stunned.
Katherine secretly glared at Charlotte. My god, she hadn’t mentioned the amount in the card all afternoon.
However, Director Jian, looking at the bank card, seemed lost in thought.
After a while.
He snapped back, grinning happily, "Great, with this money, I can start preparing by tomorrow."
He was just about to reach for the card when Charlotte stopped him.
He looked over, puzzled.
Charlotte pursed her lips slightly, "The condition is that they must be the sole investor."
Upon hearing this, Director Jian dismissively waved his hand, "That’s fine. Not only the sole investor, but as long as it’s not the director’s position, they can choose whatever else."
Charlotte twitched her face. Are you not going to consider at all?
So decisive, what about those who have already invested?
As if hearing her thoughts, Director Jian nonchalantly smiled, "In our line of work, offending people is something we try to avoid. But compared to the work and future prospects, those small investments aren’t necessary."
There was one more thing he didn’t say: to be able to take out a hundred million in one go, the background is certainly substantial. Better to offend known individuals than an unknown bigwig.
Upon hearing this, Charlotte stretched out her hand, smiling calmly, "Then, a pleasant cooperation."
"Once I finalize the other roles, we can officially start filming."
The two shook hands, simultaneously revealing smiles.
...
"What are you doing, Claire?" Julian Sia gazed at the girl with a light glance and spoke softly.
Claire Green looked up, raising the corner of her eyes, revealing a hint of a wild curve.
Her tone was lazy and playful, with a hint of mischief.
"Drawing, didn’t you say these were for drawing?"
Looking at the illegible lines on the physics paper, Julian was dumbfounded.
"You really don’t want to take extra lessons?"
Claire’s lip curled up on one side, lazily looking at him, "For someone determined to get a zero, tutoring only makes things difficult for me."
Upon hearing this.
Julian affectionately patted her head with subtle indulgence, "So, are you planning to apologize to the little white flower?"
Claire clicked her tongue.
Even he started using the term ’little white flower.’
"Brother, have some confidence in my abilities."
Claire raised an eyebrow, sounding quite nonchalant.
Julian let out a soft laugh, his low magnetic voice playfully teasing.
"Your drawing skills, or your fighting skills?"
Claire heard this, her bright black eyes looked at him, and after a while, she straightforwardly smiled, speaking word by word.
"Of course, my learning ability."
The sentence was normal enough, but when she said it, it immediately took on a different taste.
Julian’s eyes darkened, his attractive lips curving slightly. Claire really does surprise me all the time.
He casually said, "Is that so? I look forward to seeing Claire’s learning abilities in the future."
"..."
Suddenly.
The phone rang, breaking the ambiguous atmosphere between the two.
Seeing the caller ID, Claire wasn’t surprised at all. She stood up, pointing at Julian, and went upstairs.
Watching her back, Julian fell into deep thought. Claire always avoided everyone when taking her calls.
Upstairs.
"Earlier than I expected," Claire spoke softly.
Charlotte was surprised for a moment, then smiled, "The director already agreed."
"Mm, the card has no password," Claire casually replied.
Charlotte was silent for a few seconds, then asked the question she’d been curious about all day.
"Miss Green, I don’t understand why you chose this crew with even a newbie director."
With the ease she took out a hundred million, there were plenty of crews to choose from. So why pick a new director?
Claire lazily smiled, slowly spat out one word, "You."
Charlotte was stunned, not expecting such a reason. She had thought it might be because of the script but hadn’t dared to think it was because of her.
"I’m a businesswoman; there’s profit in you," Claire’s voice was light, openly stating the truth.
In an instant.
Charlotte burst into laughter, her expression relaxing. If that’s the case, there’s nothing for her to worry about.
It’s just mutual benefit.
"Then I must thank Miss Green for her recognition."
She hung up the phone.
Claire opened the door to find Julian holding a glass of milk, lazily leaning against the railing.
"Done with your call?"
Julian’s eyes held a smile, his deep voice particularly charming in the night.
"Brother, what is this?" Claire raised an eyebrow.
"Delivering milk."
After Julian spoke, he raised Claire’s hand and placed the glass of milk in her palm.
Feeling the warmth on the back of her hand, Claire raised her eyes, unhurriedly, "Brother, are you using the excuse of delivering milk to take advantage of me?"
She intentionally glanced at their hands, her red lips curling up.
Julian’s gaze flickered, his voice calm, "Claire’s imagination is quite rich."
Slowly retracting his hand, he casually slipped it into his pocket.
"Tsk."
Claire made an inexplicable sound, downing the milk in one go.
"Do you want the cup back?"
She looked up, playfully rubbing the cup, speaking in a low voice.
Julian smiled and asked in return, "What do you think?"
