Master Of None
Chapter 2718 2718: 2718. Meeting In The Dark
Not many people noticed when Walker was walking yet also disappearing with every few steps. It seemed that using shadow wrapping while also teleporting small distances that he was capable of by using space mana was worthwhile. He has been inspired by the ways he moved with space mana and how he could incorporate it in to his normal movements.
While it seemed like he was abusing the usage of space mana, Walker could tell that he was allowing his body to acclimate to it even better. He was using space mana to move faster and further than his average movements. That alone was enough to begin influencing his ability to use space mana more fluidly since he was allowing it to take a more front forward position in his overall usage of mana.
While this was just training in a sense, Walker was also able to understand a little more about the manas of the world. The space mana here was a lot more solid than the manas he had felt in the outer elemental planes. The places where those smaller elemental planes were held had space mana that was less influenced by the other manas keeping space more rigid. Instead, the world was more rigid in terms of using space mana because of the higher manas.
In basic terms, he had to use more of his mana and have a deeper control on space mana overall. It was a little more challenging but that was what helped him the most. Because space mana was harder to take advantage of, Walker was being more specific about his control of his own mana and the space mana he utilized. It also allowed him to sense the tougher usage of space mana around areas denser in other manas.
Specifically, when he would approach a smaller show with a higher amount of rune carved items, Walker felt the dense manas around and how the space mana did not want to move with him. It was a perfect example of how a lot more manas attached to the naturally occurring space mana made the manas not wish to move with the space mana and remain in their balance.
Space mana could surely be used to break the balance of many different forms; however, it was not necessarily the goal of space mana. It preferred to be an anchor and naturally acted as such. Meaning that any attempt to do the opposite had to be from something catastrophic and not something easily done. Therefore, it made Walker feel a little more comfortable.
Space mana training was not his goal though. The goal for Walker was to chase the new emissary of the dark elemental spirit tree. He wanted to meet them while also generally looking around the dark spirit tree. And with Midnight there along with Mordant, there was no other better time than now.
It would be nice to see Mordan outside of the meetings since it was easier that way. Plus, speeches and everything else that Walker had to handle was not really the best time to chat and spend time with others. Especially when he was asking about the plans for the youngest and newest race joining Genesis in such a unique way.
The atmosphere was dim and full of dark mana as usual. Many of those running around were working hard but the entirety of the area was still pretty quiet because during the day even the dark elemental area is less busy since it is more of a night oriented community. Then again, that fits very well with the density of dark mana and the comfort of many more nocturnal races.
Walker did spot a few of the batmen race mail carriers who worked with the harpies. They were working hard to deliver the updated notices related to the next round of expansion within the territory. Walker had heard that the next street would begin construction this week which was great because many were looking for new homes in the area. Seeing progress was always a rewarding feeling.
Seeing that the dark elemental spirit tree was growing taller was also rewarding though. Its branches stretched out further over the town that had been built allowing for the calm and balanced dark mana to spread. It would surely make the crafting of any dark affinity items become easier while those with dark affinity would be able to better use the mana here. Meaning that more development for the people would just be evident in the coming years.
"Brother!" The tackling hug that came from Midnight grabbing Walker from behind was exactly what he had expected. He had sensed her coming and was prepared to jump and catch her, but then he had noticed that there were two dark dragon hatchlings following her and wanted to see if she was trying to teach them something.
Naturally knowing this, Midnight has kept her shadow wrapping skill and the soft steps skill she was using working all the while until she had pounced. In her dragonkin form she had just gotten better and better at using her skills until now. It was all due to her training and acceptance that she would need to maintain this form more often in the crowded areas of Genesis so that she could keep helping and exploring. Plus, she wouldn't be able to get her favorite snacks if she was in her entire full dragon form, now that, would be tragic.
"I see you have two new students to learn a little here and there then?" Walker pointed at the two hatchlings watching him curiously. While they were somewhat smaller than what he expected to see from a dark dragon hatchling, they did appear to have a fairly strong dark affinity. They could easily attract dark mana to them naturally more so than any other dark dragon hatchlings that he had seen.
"They are going to be the guards for the ink lizards. Mordant and I are training them!" This brought a small smile to Walker's face since he knew that this meant Mordant was preparing for the ink lizard race to be protected for more than just the first generation. Potentially for the next hundred years at least. Of course, the hatchlings could choose another path to travel, but odds were that they would choose this one due to the growth they gained but growing with the ink lizard race.
"I'm glad you came by." The voice of Mordant drifted over as Walker noticed he was accompanied by multiple dragonkin each carrying farm mana crystals, some dark affinity herbs, and some dark affinity building materials. "We are constructing a small nursery to improve dark mana gathering. It was recommended by one of the echidna that I make it with more naturally growing materials."
This was a good idea for sure, "I like the idea. That should help the ink lizards acclimate to the world and differences in mana density and purity while they develop." If this worked the way they hoped then the ink lizard race would grow faster and not be as stressed by the other manas in the world as they would be if it had been adults traveling from the dark elemental plane to the world.
"I can't say I expected you to come and visit as well." The questioning look that Mordant and Midnight were giving Walker was enough for him to explain what brought him here now.
"I heard that the dark spirit tree had made a connection with someone. I met the wind spirit tree's bond so I thought it best to meet the dark spirit tree's as well. That way I can be more in tune with how the spirit trees are doing if anything is ever needed."
This causes Mordant's eyes to flicker with some excitement. It appeared that he had wanted to show this fact off a little. Meaning to Walker that it had to be a dark dragonkin who had burned with the dark spirit tree and not another race.
"Come with us then, the nesting area is going to be right next to the roots so that the ink lizard eggs can absorb more refined dark mana. They will most likely live around the tree for comfort too." The planning that Mordant had done clearly was working out very well for the development of this future race within Genesis lands.
The larger group moved toward the base of the dark spirit tree. The roots were significantly larger but they didn't impede the roads or the buildings. Instead, they grew around them as if they were an added layer of protection and safety. The dark mana also increased in density too, Walker was very happy to see the purity had also risen. But his eyes were drawn to a single figure sitting against the dark spirit tree flickering like the shadowy branches above them.
