CHAPTER 297: I ADVICE YOU TO BACK OFF

(Author’s POV)

’Al, it is that girl we saw earlier. Chase her, CHASE AFTER HER,’ Alex roared inside Alaric as he saw the glimpse of Myra’s back. He was anguished. Listening to his wolf’s words full of pleas and desperation, Alaric didn’t think twice, and his body started moving on its own.

Leaving everything aside, he strode towards the door. But before he could go, Elisa reached for his wrist and clasped it in an iron grip, "Mr. Alaric, what happened? Why are you leaving the banquet so suddenly?" She sensed by the urgency of his steps that something wasn’t right.

Both Alaric and Alex have had enough of her nonsense at that point. His rare patience and ignorance had snapped. The two of them, quite unceremoniously, spat, his voice thunderous, "YOU BRAZEN, AUDACIOUS HUMAN. Get off my back." He shrugged off her hand in a rough jerk and glared at her with his usual than dark eyes. This was a sign that Alex was taking over Alaric. He would rip Elisa’s body off then and there, into pieces, if she tried to say one more word.

Not giving her any face or any time to react, Alaric left the room, his steps scurried.

He reached outside the room and looked here and there, but the girl was nowhere to be found, once again. But this time, Alex as well as Alaric didn’t back out. In one last, desperate attempt to find her, he followed his heart. He left the premises and walked towards the main entrance of the hotel, which was on the other side of the venue.

Fabian, on the other hand, led Myra to the Crown Opulence’s main entrance. There were two reasons, his car was parked in that area and it was also a restricted zone for media houses and journalists. The journalists and reporters were given access only outside the venue gate.

As soon as they got out of the hotel, the valet saw him and went to get his car. Fabian was about to say something, but before that, his phone started ringing again. He ignored it once again, but Myra interrupted him, "Why don’t you take the call? I know, your phone has been buzzing nonstop. Pick it up, maybe there is something urgent. Something they need you for." She urged him.

Fabian brushed her off, "Nahh~ ... it is probably nothing."

But Myra wasn’t having any of it, "I insist, Fabian. You should do your duty till the end. Don’t ruin your hard work and let it go to waste because of my problems. You have pulled all nighters to make today’s seminar, right?" Even after that, Fabian was reluctant. Seeing this, Myra remarked, "Just answer it. As for me~ ..... I can simply take a taxi back home." She was already feeling guilty about Fabian leaving the venue and dropping her off.

"NO WAY, I can’t let you go so easily," his words came out a bit too loud than his usual tone. Realizing what he had said, he improvised, "Uhh~ .... What I mean is that, I can’t let you take a cab. It will weigh my conscience down, plus, Yelena would chew me out for abandoning you." Myra crossed her arms and looked at him. He then said, "Fine, fine. Give me a minute, then. I will make a quick call and be right back, okay."

Myra nodded and urged him. Fabian didn’t want to leave her side, but he could not answer the call in front of Myra, as it was Jacob who was calling him this time. He anticipated that Chris Shadow might have told his grandfather about the earlier incident, and he must be curious to know more details regarding the matter. So, he had to leave her side.

With a heavy heart, he walked to the other side and called back to Jacob.

Meanwhile, Alaric had reached the hotel’s entrance as well. As soon as he saw the girl in sight, his steps slowed down. His heart raced unconsciously, and there was a fluttering inside his chest. Finally, finally, it was the girl whom he had been looking for in the entire seminar but couldn’t find.

He exhaled a deep breath and took deliberate steps towards her. She was standing alone with her back facing him. As he advanced towards her, Alex was purring and anticipating and getting excited inside Alaric.

Myra, being completely oblivious to the presence of Alaric, was busy with her own conflicted thoughts.

When Alaric was just at an arm’s length behind Myra, he stopped. There have been countless instances where he had been so desperate that, without any consideration, he had grabbed another girl’s hand and called them out with Myra’s name as they bore some semblance to her in some way or other. So, this time, he wanted to be extra careful.

Though he cleared his throat, his voice still came out hoarse, "Ex~ ...... excuse me, uhh~ "

His voice was enough to spike Myra’s heart rate to the maximum. She instantly knew who it belonged to as he held her breath, forgetting to breathe. She froze.

Seeing that she wasn’t reacting, Alaric, once again, called out, his voice much more clear, resolute, and there was a rare softness in his tone, "Can I talk to you for a moment?"

Myra instinctively wanted to flee, but she calmed herself down rather quickly, ’Relax, Myra and just answer him. He probably has already forgotten about me.’

Thinking in this way, she turned around and answered, "Umm~ .... How may I help you?" Despite the calmness, her voice came out scratchy, out of nervousness. Her face was lowered, and part of her forehead and her eyes were still covered with hair, concealing her eye color.

But Alaric, as soon as he laid eyes on the lower part of her face, his eyes regained their darkness as he couldn’t help but grasp her wrist and call out, "I FINALLY FOUND YOU, MYRA. I finally found you." His voice came out small and gravelly, and he was overwhelmed with raw emotions.

Myra’s eyes flickered at her name, her heart beat thumping inside her chest wildly. But she still tried to give him a reply as she pulled her hand back, "I am sorry, sir. You have got the wrong person."

Alaric knitted his brows in confusion. With one hand he grabbed her waist and pulled her closer to him and with his other hand, he held her chin, raising it to face him, "No, I have got the right person. You are Myra Miracle, aren’t you? Why are you lying to me? Do you have any idea~ ...... how much~ ......" he was about to say how much he has been searching for her but couldn’t finish his words. He then added, "Why are you trying to hide from us? Where have you been all this time? Why did you suddenly run away?" With each question he fired her way, his grip tightened on her waist as well as her chin, pressing it hard unconsciously. "Tell me, why are you doing this?" His eyes turned bloodshot and watery.

Myra was clearly hurt by his forcefulness. Her patience snapped as she said, "Please, let me go of me, right now. I don’t know what you are talking about or who you are looking for. But I am not the one. So, I SAID~ ... LET GO OF ME." She struggled to get out of his embrace, but Alaric was stubborn and adamant in his stance. He was blinded at this point. "No, you are lying. How can you not be her? Why are you doing this, Myra? Do you have any idea how much I~ ...... how Nora has been. She has been miserable and hurt because of what you did to her."

Hearing Nora’s name, Myra’s eyes flickered, her guilt cropping up again. But before she could utter anything, a voice interrupted them, "Mr. Alaric Everests, what are you doing?"

Both their gazes turned to the source of the voice simultaneously as the person approached them and pulled Myra away from Alaric and covered her behind him, "May I know why you are trying to force my people, Mr. Everests?" Fabian’s voice was rough and gravelly. His usual gentleness was replaced by icy coldness.

"Your people?" Alaric scoffed at his face. "Who do you think you are to question me? Get out of my way, now. I was speaking with her. Don’t insert your nose into our matter." He tried to reach Myra, but Fabian stood between them like a wall.

"Mr. Everests. I don’t think she wants to talk to you at all. So, my advice to you is to back off, right now and don’t make a scene and scare my guest away," Fabian glared at him with warning.

Alex was annoyed. He was pushing inside to come to the surface.

But at that same time, the valet returned with Fabian’s car and stopped right in front of them. He looked at him and then at Alaric, as they stood in a standoff, giving each other a murderous look. With a hesitant voice, he said, "Sir~ ... your~ ... car keys."
