Mated To The Dead Prince
Chapter 62
CHAPTER 62: CHAPTER 62
Rose gently pulled her face away from Cassius, looking embarrassed as hell, while on the other hand, Cassius looked unfazed.
He snapped his sharp eyes to Felonious, who was standing in the shadows, and asked sternly. "I thought I asked you a question, mage?"
Felonious was speechless, but he dared not point out what he had stopped talking to Cassius. He cleared his throat and walked back to the table.
Rose was flustered; she tried stepping out of Cassius’s hold, but he held her tighter.
"Stay," He whispered.
He didn’t trust that she was stable enough to stand on her own.
He never felt guilty, but this time, he did.
The human in his arms was teaching him new emotions he never thought he’d feel, making him think twice before he did anything.
He knew he didn’t love her; addiction, he had said, but his addiction was like no other. He craved her presence, her soul, her blood.
He needed her, but he was scared.
He didn’t think he’d be able to drink someone else’s blood ever again after tasting Rose’s blood, and he feared that he would end up killing her if he gave in to the panging thirst he had for her.
"Master, your slave is starting to connect with her element," Felonious started.
Rose’s face fell, hearing Felonious refer to her as ’his slave’ reminded her that whatever she was starting to feel for Cassius was false. He would never feel anything for her, he was just being a little kind to her because she was now his food and sex slave.
One had to treat their food nicely; after all, if they didn’t, they’d starve.
Cassius sensed Rose’s shift in emotion; he could feel her soul, which had seemed a little relaxed, start to withdraw and tense up.
He knew why; Felinious’ words had gotten to her, and somehow, to him too.
Randomly throwing the word ’his slave’ was starting to cause a huge discomfort between them; he no longer liked it.
Rose sighed, "What elements are you talking about, Felonious?" Rose asked quietly.
Felonious traced his fingers across images on the rolled-out golden scroll.
"You slept for two day, and -"
"I did?" Rose turned her head and blinked to at Cassius before turning to look at Felonious.
"You did... after your shower on the night we made love, you never left my chamber," Cassius whispered.
Rose blushed hard; Cassius was becoming quite brazen and she didn’t think she could cope with this new development.
"Right... if I may ask you, Rose. Did you dream about anything? Anyone? Anywhere? There must be something must have orchestrated this transformation in you." Felonious questioned.
Rose didn’t even have to ponder over it, she had long suspected Isolde, abd was already planning to come to Felonious for an explanation.
"Yes... it was her! The voice is my head," She turned to Cassius, "It was her, Master, she made me say all those things to you," She looked at Felonious, "Yes, I did dream, and I think she’s in my head now." Rose nodded, staring expectantly at Felonious.
Felonious looked behind Rose and saw the worried look in Cassius face. Hebwas scared for Rose, Felonious knew that Cassius thought that Rose wouldn’t be able to handle the spirituality of the dark world. He was worried for her.
"Who is this person you saw in your dreams? Does she have a name? Did she say anything to you?" Felonious stared at the elements in the golden scroll and frowned slightly, something was getting familiar with them but he still couldn’t put a name to it.
Rose nodded vigorously, "Yes, it’s Isolde. She took me to a... no, I went to a garden, a very beautiful green garden, right inside this castle walls. On my way there, this purple flower reached out for my leg, and when i finally got in, I met her sitting on a silver bench, she looked so magical, so beautiful. But I shouldn’t have trusted her. She led me to a tree and made me eat some heart-shaped fruit, and on the tenth one, I lost my consciousness," Rose frowned as she explained.
Cassius had his eyes pinned on Felonious. They already knew who Rose had seen, the name was very familiar to them.
"Can you tell us the things she said to you?" Cassius asked behind her.
Rose bit her lips as she tried to remember everything, "Um, I asked her who was and hiw she got in the castle but she only asked me to ask you..." She removed Cassous hands from around her and stepped away from him so she could look him in the eyes.
"She asked me to open my heart to you... to follow my heart..." She murmured.
"Are you?" Cassius asked, looking deep into her eyes.
Rose blinked away from him.
"She said she could be anything; a fairy, werewolf, lycans, demons, vampire. She also said that everyday creature feared her. She seemed so powerful, yet so kind and calming and that’s why I trusted her so easily and ate the yummy fruit which had my body humming like a warm monk’s chant," She gently rubbed her hand over her left arm, recalling the feeling.
"Who is she?" Rose questioned Cassius again, she wanted to know Isolde’s real identity.
Felonious silently walked away and into his small library, leaving Roae alone with Cassius.
"You’ll know soon," He replied vaguely.
"A past lover?" She asked in a small voice, beating herself up for asking such a dumb question.
She could see the smirk on Cassius’s face, making her regret her question.
"What if she was?" He raised a brow at her, wanting to get a reaction from her.
Rose shook her head, "It’s none of my business," She replied.
Cassius took a step closer, his finger under her chin as he raised her face, "Then why did you ask? Don’t ask what you don’t want to know the answer to," He said, his thumb caressing her cheek.
Rose stared into his eyes, "You apologized... why? Are you falling for your human slave, Master?" She gave him a daring smile.
Cassius smiled, "It’s not love, Rose..." He leaned closer to her ear, "It’s addiction," his hand went to her breast the moment Felonious returned.
"Stop it," Rose whispered and moved away from Cassius.
Cassius pinned his gaze on her; he wasn’t joking when he said he was addicted to her.
He wanted her, again.
He wanted her body, her blood, and in the darkest oary if his heart, he wanted to mark her so she could never leave his side, never want another man, and only crave him just the same way he craved her.
She was a poison he wouldn’t mind dying from; toxic, but sweet.
"What’s in the book, Felonious?" Roae stared at the green book Felonious had placed bwisd ethereal golden scroll.
"Open is, Rose," he permitted.
Rose glanced at his face before she proceeded to open the book.
A loud gasp escaped he mouth the moment she flipped the first page, "Oh, my God! It’s her! It’s Isolde, and this is the same garden! How? She’s sitting on the same bench as the one in my dream. Who is she? Can someone tell me already?" She asked, urgently needing to know.
"It’s surprising, Rose. Isolde has become your spirit guide, she sensed your tumulteous emotions and hesitation to accept your powers; she wants you to accept what your becoming. She wanted to guide, and also to protect you. Just like what you did with his majesty a few minutes ago," Felonious informed.
Rose took second to process what she had just heard, "A spirit guide? Why?" She frowned.
"She is who you are. The Lux." Felonious finally told Rose the answer she’d been dying to hear.
"What? Isolde is the Lux? I though lt you said she was fierce? The person I saw was... fiercely cute. But she did have an omnious aura," Rose said.
"Do not be deceived by her beauty, Rose. Just like you... you’re beautiful, and when you realize what you’re capable of, you will understand why they say that looks are deceitful," Felonious glanced at Cassius.
"It’s dangerous to have someone like you beside another who you don’t trust. You can hurt them without meaning to. This is why I advice that you do not get marked by the master for now... until you trust him enough..." He stated.
Cassius frowned, not saying anything but only staring at Rose. Trust was a strong word, he didn’t believe that Rose would ever trust him.
"This is your journey to your destiny, Rose, and Isolde is here to guide you. One thing in aurenis that she wants to get you close to the master because she knows it’s the only way you can master your elements," Felonious said.
Cassius gently pulled Rose back to his front, "The ten elements... does it represent these elements?" He asked.
Rise blinked, "I don’t know, it might be a coincidence," She replied.
"It’s not. That was the Velisune fruit, meaning ethereal and soft rays. She was the one who planted that fruit in the sun garden. Even if there is no sunlight, it evokes warmth illusion." Felonious flipped to the next page to show Rose the same fruit she had eaten in her dream.
"Yes, that’s it... the yummy fruit, Velisune fruit." She murmured.
Felonious wanted to say something but Cassius suddenly pulled Rose away.
"I have something to attend, we’ll discuss this after dinner. Come," He said to Rose.
"Bo, please, I really want to know -"
"Follow me, Rose," He cut her off, drawing her out of the lair.
Rose hurried to cath up with his strides.
"Please, slowly down, you’re too fast," She gasped when she almost tripped as they walked down the red carpet stairs.
"Stop being lousy, Rose. I have a visitor to pick from the town," He answered hurriedly, pulling her beisde him.
They approached the door and the guards at the door opened it before they got to it.
In the next second, Rose was pushed out of the way by someone who suddenly ran inside the castle.
As she fell to the floor, she winced in pain and looked up to see a slim, tall woman with a long, black hair hugging Cassius very tightly.
She didn’t know which one hurt the most, her fall or the fact that Cassius was comfortably holding this stunning woman in his arms, staring at her as if she was his world. He didn’t even seem to notice that she had fallen behind him.
"Elowen, you should have waited, I always come to pick you," He said in a soft voice.
Elowen chuckled sweetly, "I decided to surprise you. I moss you," She whispered.
And, in front of Rose’s eyes, Elowen leaned in and kissed Cassius’s lips. The worst part? He didn’t push her away.
If pain and heartbreak were a person, they would be women and their names would be Rose.
