CHAPTER 72: CHAPTER 72

Rose grabbed her phone from under her pillow and a small cloth bag – it contained the few possessions she truly valued, including the scroll Felonious had given her.

She wouldn’t be needing the ’slave’s quarter’ now. She was going to the dark castle. Her new home. And she was going to demand answers from Cassius.

He had better given her a good reply for why he never mentioned the full moon to her.

Aisling watched Rose’s worried face, "Was it what I said?" She asked quietly.

Rose blinked and realised that she was sta djnv beuad ethe bed looking like a pissed mistress.

She forced her face to soften, "No, no, Aisling. It’s not you or what you said. I’m just lost in my thoughts. I should be going now. I’ll see you soon." She smiked at Aisling and waved.

"Bye, Rose," Aisling murmured as Rose left the room.

She hoped she hadn’t caused problem between the master and his mate by saying what she wasn’t supposed to say... she really hoped so.

Rose walked along toward the stairs that led to the reception, her stride purposeful. As she approved the last stair, Susan was standing beside the staircase, her hands gently held together on the abdomen.

"Your majesty - Rose, I was just coming to fetch you," Susan said, bowing her head slightly.

"It’s fine, Susan," Rose said, her voice calm, she couldn’t let anyone feel her nervousness.

She couldn’t let then see that she was a doubtful, jealous mate. A woman who feared that she was about to lose her man to someone else.

"I’m ready to leave. But, can I make a small request?" Rose questiones.

Susan nodded, "Yes, please, make all tbe requestd you can think of -"

"Susan," Rose called, exasperated.

She had just asked Susan not to act so obviously with her, yet, here she was kissing ass.

Susan cleared her throat, "I mean, you can go ahead and make your request and I shall consider if its fit to be fufilled or not." She rephrased.

Rose sigbed, "Fine. Can you take Aisling to the kitchen later? It’ll be nice to have her work with Cornelia and me." She asked calmly.

Susan frowned, "You cant work in the kitchen anymore." She pointed out.

"Says who?" Rose raised a brow at her.

"Well, nonone had mentioned it, but I know it’s the right thing to do," Susan replied.

"Well then, I suppose thsts nit your business. Alright," she narrowed her wyes at Susan.

Susan sighed and slowly nodded, "I suppose. Fine. I’ll fix Aisling up yo work in the kitchen with you. However, I can’t stop her from being taken by any of the masters for pleasure. Only the king can outrule that... not you, not me." She informed politely.

Rose nodded her head, "I understand, thank you." She said and startes walking toward the door, her gaze set on the main hallway.

"Oh, I’ll show you to your new room," Susan gurried and walked pasts Rose, mivung toward the back entrance of the dark castle.

Rose wasnt in a hurry, she took her time ti stare at the Rose flowers, wondering if it was a coincidence thay Cassius loved Red roses, or there was a connection to it that she was yet to figure out?

As she walked up the stairs that led to the open hall of the dark castle, she saw Scarlet and Jasroslav walking in from the entrance.

Ignoring them, she followed Suasan toward the red-carpeted stairs.

However, she knew that peace and and Scarlet could never coexist.

"Rose!" Scarlet called behind Rose.

Rose paused, Cassius was away, she knew Rose or Elowen were bound to cause trouble me for her in his absence.

A slow smirk curled a lips as she slowly turned to face Scarlet. Maybe she could test a few skills with her, just like she had tested her wind skills with Elowen. Maybe, just maybe, Scarlet could be tge first to face death from a lux.

Susan suddenly paused and climbed down the few stairs thst separated Rise from her. She grabbed Rose’s hand pulled her gently to herself.

"No, Rose. You font have to answer. You font knew that child like I do. I watched her grow, she’s evil, Rose. Trust me," Susan whispered.

Rose smiled, "Oh, don’t worry, Susan. During the welcome ceremony, Scarlet promised in front of Cassius and the crowd that she will be nothing but a friend to me. Am I right, Scarlet?" She asked, smirking hauntingly ar Scarlet.

Scarlet was taken aback for a few seconds, caught off guard by Rose’s change in demeanor. She had expected Rose to be evasive, defensive even, but never, inviting.

She frowned and scoffed, "Don’t fool anyone, Rose. My cousin is not here. Drop your fucking act." Scarlet walked up to started, her heels muted by the red, velvet carpet on the stairs.

Rose watched her climb toward her. Amusement in her eyes, "I’m not the one who shoukd drop the act, dear Scarlet. It should be you, the pretentiousness nicel heiress. Now, if you have nothing else to say other than make threats and glare, I’ll be on my way." She said and turned away from Scarlet.

Enraged, Scarlet reached out her hand ro grab Rose but Susan was quick to slap her hand away.

"Oh my god!" Susan gasped when she realised what she ahd done.

"You filthy servant, you dare to touch me?" Scarlet moved to slap Susan but Rose held her hand in time.

"Pick someone your own size, Scar," she whispered to the shocked Scarlet and pusjed her hard, sending her tumbling doen the stairs.

"Argj!" Scarlet s reamed as she collided with the floor.

Everone was frozen in shock, including Dabmond who had just walked into the grand hall.

Scarlet grunted and shouted as she tumbled down the stairs toward Jasroslav, who was already waiting to catch his precious daughter.

"Oh no," Susan gasped as a distinct ’crack’ pireced the air... Scarlet had broken her wrist.

"Arghhh!" Scarlet screamed, holding her shifted wrist asher father hurried tonpull her off the floor.

"Are you crazy?!" Jasroslav raied at Rose.

While everyone looked bothered, Rose and Dabmond shared an unbotbered look.

"Here, I’ll help," Dabmond walked over to the shrieking Scarlet and held her broken wrist.

"What, what are you-Argh!" Scarlet let out a pinful scream as Dabmond popped her wrist back in place.

"There, you should have done this yourself instead jf raming like a banshee, dear, cousin," Dabmond patte Scarlet’s cheek and nidded at Jasroslav, "Greetings, uncle." He said and stepped away from them.

Rose smirked, she that Scarlet would heal immediately from whatever injury she sustained from the fall. She was a vampire, that was a perk.

"Are you just going to be quiet? You saw what thst bit h did to me! She pushed me!" Scarlet shouted angrily pointing her manicured finger at Rose.

"She’s right, young master. The slave should be punished for her crime." Jasroslav said, glaring at Rose.

Dabmond looked from Rose to Scarlet, both women, yet, there was a huge difference in personality.

"Your wrist is fine, Scarlet. Do not cause trouble," Dabmond spoke, hoping to settle this standoff before Cassius arrived.

"It’s alright, Dabmond. Let’s hear Scarlet out, you can go, Susan, Dabmond will take me when I’m ready," she said.

Susan nodded and quietly walked away, hoping that nothing serious comes out of this meaningless trouble Scarlet was causing.

Rose walked back down, standing beside Dabmond, "Let’s hear your thoughts, Scarlet," she said quietly, leaning on the stair rail behind her.

"Oh, you will hear my thoughts, Rose..." Scarlet stepped closer, leaning her face closer to Rose’s, "You already know what I want, Rose. I want you to burn and die. Your existence sickens me and I’ll stop at nothing to make sure I rid our kingdom of such impurity like yourself." She whispered.

"Oh, that’s quite dark, brother. Don’t you agree?" Damien asked, walking into the hall with Damon beside him.

"Not dark enough, she’s missing some vampire slangs. What happened to sucking her dry and watching the life dim from her eyes? Or ripping her heart out through her chest... try something fun, Scarlet. She’s not going to fear you with those lame threats," Damon replied, pausing beside Dabmond.

Rose giggled, sliding away from Scarket, "Do you guys know she spits whine she talks? And she has onion breath." Rose said, loud enough for Scarlet to hear.

"Does she now? Hmm..." Damien waljed over to Scarlet and gently grabbed her chin, tilting her chin up, "Say ahhh, I need to confirm some things." Hevsayd with all seriousness.

Dabmond chuckled, watching the rage in Scarlet’s face.

"Get your hands off me, Cousin," Scarlet pushed Damien’s hand away, glaring at Rise who was smiling at the corner.

She then turned to her father and said, "You promised, father. You promised!" She heaved angrily, balling her fists.

"You, wait and see, I’ll crush you. Everyone knows I don’t back down until I get what I want -"

"But does what you want want you?" Rose but in smoothly, smiling innocently.

"You, fucking bitch!" Scarlet moves in vampire speed but Dabmond was in front of Rose before Scarlet could reach her.

"Stay calm, cousin," Dabmond placed a hand on Scarlet’s shoulder.

Scarlet stepped back, hee eyes swirling in rising rage.

"Why?! Why is everyone protecting this human bitch? Why are going against your own kind to protect her?!" She shouted, her body shaking with uncontianed anger.

"Maybe she’s my brother’s mate," Damine blurted out.

"What?!" Scarlet and Jasroslav asked at the same time, their eyes showing shock and evil contempt.
