Mecha Devourer System
Chapter 38: The Revenge Beins (I)
CHAPTER 38: THE REVENGE BEINS (I)
A shower bath helped Everlearn more than he could have imagined, for the quiet sound of the warm water hitting him seemed to, one by one, wash away the burden on his heart.
Things had moved fast... too fast.
He had come to terms with his death and rebirth, but him meeting with Boss Ash, facing a Corer in battle and surviving still, meeting with Dumbledore, getting into an aerial fight, meeting with the boss, obtaining an X-guardian mark, and now joining an Academy—through all of this happened because he chose to. In a way, it also wasn’t like he had a full choice, and things he didn’t really have full control over couldn’t be immediately reasoned out clearly.
But in this silence of splashing water, he felt himself again, and slowly he came to terms with things.
"I’m not a Corer, nor am I an X-guardian," Everlearn muttered to himself, some water trailing a few inches into his lips before they fell.
"I could have said I was a Mech Designer, but... that already came to an end."
"Then what am I?"
He mused to himself, reclining upon the wall as the water splashed down upon his back.
"I know what I am," Everlearn mused, his eyes closed.
"I am a wretched soul that crawled out from the grasp of death, due to a wish to be more than ordinary."
"I could not accept the death I was given, and neither could I afford to break the promise I made to her."
"Those two things are why I draw breath, and now my only purpose."
"And everything I do will only be of importance if it serves any of these two things."
"Being in a Corer Academy could lead to growth in strength. With enough effort, with enough growth in strength, I can deal death to the one who first gave it to me."
"The Academy is important."
"The promise I made to be great—I have figured out I’m not sure exactly what greatness is. Is it really being a Mech Designer, or a Corer, or both? Or just the simple fact of not relying on anyone for a living?"
"I’m still figuring that out, and for now, I could push it farther into my heart."
"When I have my first wish of revenge, then I can bring it back out and walk towards it."
The splashing stopped as Everlearn twisted the knob and stopped it.
He grabbed one of the towels and stepped out towards his bedroom, soon getting himself into a simple round-neck shirt and shorts before he moved to the living room and sat at the desk.
It was time to begin his revenge.
And it started from someone—Mecha Eva.
Turning on all devices, Everlearn’s fingers cracked, and in the next moment, he pulled the chair closer and his fingers landed upon the keyboard.
He had the questions—the first of which was, who was Mecha Eva truly?
When they finished the creation of the Anomalous Grade X module, all they had been told was that Eva was a subject sent by a Tier 2 Mechara Organization that was responsible for the creation of the project.
They had been told she had a D-tier talent affinity fusion, and hence fusing with such a module would be no problem.
But as Eva got rid of him, Everlearn could still remember the exact words she had spoken:
"I was ordered to kill every last life that knows even a clue about creating an Anomalous Mecha X-grade."
This could only mean one thing.
While the scientists saw Eva as simply someone who was fusing with their first modules, the truth was she was a killer—a cold-blooded killer on a mission to gain power and slaughter targets.
She wasn’t some dumb clueless woman on her first time, like they all thought.
And it didn’t take Everlearn 30 minutes before he found the first clue.
An image of Mecha Eva, just before her fusion.
He did a couple more browsings on the internet, finding her deactivated social media accounts, most having been locked and needing to be accepted.
He switched on the laptop by the side and began piecing things together.
Silently, Everlearn spent 4 hours, his hands never leaving the keyboard, before he stopped.
Swiveling the seat to the side, he focused solely on the laptop and began going through all the recorded information and links.
Five hours and Everlearn found her true background, and it was horrifying.
Mecha Eva’s full name was Eva Aramitsche.
An orphan from the orphanage home of Dorile Future—a place in a Grade C city called Surks City.
He couldn’t find out what happened to her parents that she got into an orphanage, but he didn’t need to.
The orphanage was a starting point.
At 6, an incident occurred at the orphanage where two women in the orphanage with the duty of food serving were killed, along with another orphanage girl named Levada Orios.
There was no mention of who or what had killed them, something truly weird, as such news should have been on the major headlines, yet for some reason, it just wasn’t popular at all.
But there was a clue.
This event happened in 4001, the same year that an orphanage girl named Eva was kicked out of the orphanage. What Everlearn found hard to grasp was that Eva, at this time, was only 10 years old.
There wasn’t much known in a two-year gap, but in the third-year gap, there was a gang that terrorized Surks City, and there was a girl named "Cold End." She was pretty popular amongst the Surks gangs and even other gangs around, and a terror to the Surks people.
The atrocities she committed were not limited at all to death, and some were even more twisted than that.
Two years after that, Surks City underwent a complete purification by the stepping in of a new core organization, and all gangs were cleared off its streets.
The Cold End girl was sent to jail, but then, there was an organizational pardon that freed about 300 prisoners from Ourion Prison—the prison Cold End had attended—and she had been freed.
Everlearn found Cold End’s footage image as she was being whisked out into a bus out of the prison, and though a bit more mature, she was no doubt the same Eva from the image.
What she did after the prison pardon was unknown, but the next time she appeared was 7 years later, and this time, she had been a new recruit from the Mechara Organization in a Grade A City.
The city was called Cornando, and the Mechara Organization there had been the same one that had given Everlearn and his group the project to create a Mecha X Core.
After their death, it was published that the project was a failure, and the one who ought to have fused with the Core—Eva—unfortunately met her demise.
She was now "dead" to the public, but Everlearn knew that was a lie.
And not only that, he now also knew the dark shadows that were behind Mecha Eva.
