Medusa in the Trash Heap
Chapter 40 - A Freak-Level Little Prodigy
Chapter 40 – A Freak-Level Little Prodigy
“This is a residential area.”
“There shouldn’t be any demonic beasts here. Yet this white fox is not only unafraid of me—it even dared to make faces at me.”
“So, this white fox should be a spirit fox.”
“And, it must have a very powerful master behind it.”
Chen Fan instantly concluded.
Spirit beasts weren’t something ordinary people could afford to raise.
Take himself for example—he hadn’t been qualified to raise one until recently.
Though spirit beasts were sold on the market, they were prohibitively expensive.
Ordinary folks simply couldn’t afford them.
Unless one was ridiculously lucky and happened to stumble upon a young beast, it was almost impossible to tame a demonic beast and turn it into a spirit beast.
But to tame a demonic beast, one needed formidable strength.
And those who possessed that kind of strength—how could they possibly be ordinary?
From the looks of it, this spirit fox must’ve come from a nearby territory.
“Forget it…”
After thinking it over, Chen Fan chose not to pay the little white fox any further attention.
The people living nearby were almost all powerful or influential.
Even if they couldn’t compare to Ji Yaoyao, they probably weren’t far behind.
Ji Yaoyao, after all, was an extraordinary existence.
Dealing with people of that level, it was best not to provoke them without cause.
Even though he had Ba Xia, Medusa, and Wu Mei—three powerful entities on his side.
That still wasn’t enough to challenge a transcendent power.
“Zhi zhi zhi…”
Seeing that Chen Fan turned away without paying it any attention, the little white fox froze in place.
“Wong—”
Chen Fan quickened his pace and shot off into the distance.
“Big brother…”
Not long after, Chen Fan faintly heard a soft, childlike voice.
He instinctively stopped walking.
Turning his head, he saw a little cutie bounding toward him.
She moved with astonishing speed.
The hair on her head fluttered gracefully as she hopped along.
“You’ve got to be kidding me—is she this much of a prodigy?”
Chen Fan was stunned.
The little girl was incredibly delicate and pretty, looking no older than six or seven.
But she was already at the ninth level of the Mortal Realm.
“Born with opened meridians!”
“And all nine meridians, no less!”
“This kind of talent is just… outrageous.”
Chen Fan was utterly shocked.
Kids that young normally wouldn’t even start cultivating, much less forcibly open their meridians through cultivation.
At most, they’d practice body-nourishing techniques to enhance their potential and lay a foundation for future cultivation.
So, it was highly likely that this little girl’s meridians had opened naturally from birth.
“Big brother, did you see my Little White?”
The little girl hopped up in front of Chen Fan and asked eagerly, not the least bit afraid of strangers.
Of course, she wouldn’t be afraid.
Monsters of her caliber were probably surrounded by countless hidden powerhouses acting as guardians.
Chen Fan was certain: if he made even the slightest suspicious move, he’d be instantly killed on the spot.
“A little white fox, right?”
Chen Fan asked with a smile.
“Yes, yes!”
The little girl nodded happily.
“There—just a moment ago, I saw it under that tree.”
Chen Fan squatted down and pointed at a towering tree in the distance.
“Thank you, big brother!”
The little girl beamed with joy upon receiving his directions.
“Hurry along, then.”
“Or it might run off.”
Chen Fan chuckled.
“Mm!”
The little girl nodded and turned to leave.
“Oh, right, big brother! My name is Luo’er.”
“Thank you for helping me.”
“My mom said we shouldn’t owe people favors.”
“But I don’t have any treasures with me right now.”
“How about this, I’ll give you an invitation!”
She turned back, thought seriously for a moment, then took out a golden invitation from the embroidered pouch hanging around her neck.
“Big brother, tomorrow is Luo’er’s birthday. You must come, okay?”
“There’ll be lots of spirit fruits and delicious food. Then I won’t owe you a favor anymore…”
The little girl said with sweet innocence.
“Luo’er, is it?”
“But this isn’t a favor.”
“At most, I’m just a helpful passerby.”
“Like asking someone for directions—it’s not a favor, just a common courtesy…”
Luo’er’s innocent yet stubborn logic left Chen Fan both amused and exasperated, so he patiently explained.
“No! Big brother has to come.”
Luo’er stuffed the invitation into Chen Fan’s hand, then skipped off into the distance.
“So pushy at such a young age…”
Chen Fan shook his head helplessly.
“The Feng Clan…”
Looking at the invitation, Chen Fan was slightly surprised.
It turned out to be from the Feng family.
“Feng” was one of the most ancient surnames in existence.
“Feng Luo, sixth birthday celebration…”
Watching the girl disappear into the distance, Chen Fan shook his head.
If it were any other child, he might have considered whether or not to attend.
But the Feng Clan—now that was a true noble family, and a low-profile one at that.
Anyone attending would surely be wealthy or powerful.
Chen Fan didn’t want to go to that kind of event.
After all, he wasn’t on the same level as them.
More importantly, he didn’t know anyone there.
Getting an invitation like this felt more like picking one up off the ground.
He couldn’t just accept it and casually crash someone’s banquet.
“What a shame about all those spirit fruits…”
Chen Fan’s eyes flashed with a trace of regret.
If he did attend Luo’er’s birthday, he could not only feast but probably bring some food back too—that’d be amazing.
“Wong—”
Just then, the space ahead of Chen Fan tore open, and a middle-aged woman slowly stepped out.
“Transcendent…”
Chen Fan’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“Greetings, Senior…”
He gave a slight bow, guessing this must be one of Luo’er’s guardians.
And likely only one of them.
