Medusa in the Trash Heap
Chapter 45 - All Magic is Forbidden Magic.
Chapter 45: All Magic is Forbidden Magic.
“Oh… all right…”
“This Arcane Magus just so happened to be a fire-type magic user, so most of what’s recorded in the grimoire is fire magic.”
“There are some other types of magic as well, but they’re fairly basic…”
“Let’s start by learning this Fireball spell first…”
Elizabeth quickly calmed down and flipped straight to the page with the recorded spells, guiding Chen Fan through the characters.
“Why do we have to praise the gods before chanting a spell?”
Chen Fan asked curiously.
“Because magical elements are closer to the gods, they are the gods’ favored children.
Praising the gods makes the elements more willing to draw near to you, making it easier to connect with them.”
“Spells can be spoken or not.”
“Every incantation contains the rules governing how magical elements are arranged.”
“Once you’re familiar with these arrangements, you can either whisper them or skip the chanting entirely…”
Elizabeth explained.
“So, basically, a spell is like a command. Through this command, the magical elements are arranged into different formations to create different spells.”
Chen Fan understood.
“Yes. That’s why the stronger the magic, the longer and more complex the incantation. It takes more time to prepare, but the resulting power is much greater.”
“When training in magic, a magician not only improves their mental strength through meditation, but also continuously practices spells to try to simplify the incantations…”
“Because when casting spells, the magician uses mental power to communicate with the magical elements. The longer the chant, the more mental power is consumed.”
“So, the more the incantation is simplified, the stronger the magician becomes.”
Elizabeth patiently instructed him…
“This grimoire is extremely valuable. In addition to recording various spells, it also documents the simplification process of each one, and even the essence of each spell—the fundamental structure and the secrets behind the elemental arrangements…”
“Only such a person could be called a true Arcane Magus—someone who has grasped the arcane essence of magic…”
As a fellow magician, Elizabeth held deep reverence and admiration.
“Just tell me these arcane secrets directly…”
Chen Fan said eagerly.
“All right…”
Though curious, Elizabeth began to teach Chen Fan hand-in-hand.
Wummm—
To quickly memorize and master the material, Chen Fan lit the Soul-Guarding Lotus Lamp, its light enveloping the surroundings.
Before long, Chen Fan had already mastered his first spell: the most basic Fireball.
BOOM!
Chen Fan closed his eyes and summoned again. A fireball at least two meters in diameter floated in his palm, cradled effortlessly.
BOOM!
With a sudden push, the fireball shot straight toward the center of the lake.
A deafening explosion erupted, sending up a spray over ten meters high. Waves surged toward the shore, directly washing Elizabeth onto the bank.
In the giant whirlpool left behind, the lake water was boiling.
“This is… Fireball?”
“That’s insane!”
“My lord, are you the God of Fire? Or the reincarnation of the Fire God?”
Soaked and dazed on the shore, Elizabeth took a long time to recover. When she looked at Chen Fan’s magic, her eyes sparkled with pure reverence.
She was completely captivated.
“I’m not the Fire God.”
“But with my magic talent, not even the Fire God could compete.”
Chen Fan laughed.
He realized he had underestimated the destructive power of magic.
If this kind of fireball hit someone… how would they even survive it?
“Let’s keep going!”
Chen Fan’s enthusiasm soared.
“Oh, right!”
“I’ll explain the next spell to you—Flame Blade!”
Elizabeth quickly got up and flipped to the next page in the grimoire.
BOOM!
Before long, a five-meter-long Flame Blade took shape in Chen Fan’s palm, radiating terrifying heat. With a sudden swing, it sliced through the air itself.
“Tornado…”
Soon after, a colossal tornado formed over the lake, sweeping up everything in its path. Even worse were the blades of wind hidden within the storm, capable of shredding anything.
ROARRRR—
Not long after, a dragon’s roar echoed through the air. A massive dragon, over a hundred meters long, appeared in the sky.
The entire creature was made of fire, exuding a terrifying aura of oppression.
However, Chen Fan quickly dismissed the Flame Dragon.
The destruction was simply too overwhelming.
“My lord… are you only casting forbidden spells?”
Repeated shock had left Elizabeth almost mentally unhinged.
“Our master is terrifying…”
“I spent countless ages in that other world, but even the strongest Arcane Magi there could never push ordinary spells to this level…”
Even Ba Xia, who had seen the world, was left stunned by the display.
“Are there forbidden magic spells?”
Chen Fan asked curiously.
“There are. Only two in total.”
“One is Meteorfall from the Heavens…”
“The other is Infernal Cataclysm…”
“But the chants are way too long.”
“Even an Arcane Magus would need over half an hour to complete them.”
Elizabeth flipped to the final page, studied it, then explained.
“Half an hour, huh…”
“It’s getting late. I’ve already memorized all the magic runes. I’ll figure the rest out myself.”
“In a few days, I’ll give you this book.”
Looking at the sky, Chen Fan made his decision.
“Thank you, my lord…”
Elizabeth was overjoyed.
