The elevator door opened, and as soon as it cracked open, Gao Yang fired two shots.

There were two people in the hallway, and without hesitating, Gao Yang decided to shoot first.

The sound of Gao Yang’s gunshot signaled the Black Demon members to rush out from the stairwell.

The Black Demon consisted of twelve individuals, divided into three sections.

Four stayed in the stairwell to prevent any backup from coming down, while the others split into pairs, with two teams responsible for one direction of the hallway, simultaneously attacking the rooms on either side without leaving anyone to guard the hallway.

After Gao Yang fired, the elevator doors fully opened. He sprinted out first, followed by Li Jinfang and Eileen on either side. But once they were all out of the elevator, they didn’t attack immediately; they split to either side, standing in the hallway to provide cover for the attacking Black Demon.

The Black Demon’s attack team was streamlined to the limit with only two people, but their clearing speed was incredibly fast.

One of two old men took responsibility for opening doors. Every time they reached a door, he’d shoot the lock, then kick it hard to open. The other threw a grenade inside, completing the first phase of work.

Door-breaching tactics are simple yet extremely dangerous: first open the door, then clear all enemies inside. But it’s one of the riskiest tactics, as most casualties occur in these room-clearing battles.

The two-man room-clearing tactic was not something Satan would allow; the risk was too high, potentially resulting in significant casualties.

However, the Black Demon dared to use two-man teams to assault, attacking relentlessly and pushing forward effortlessly.

First shoot the lock, then toss a grenade inside—the grenade almost exploded upon being thrown. After the grenade went off, the two old men charged inside, and after two gunshots, they quickly ran out, preparing to assault the next room.

Gao Yang was stunned; room-clearing isn’t just about looking the part while shooting. It requires skill in the moment of entry, when encountering the enemy instantaneously, with hardly enough time to aim—it’s all about instinctively raising the gun and shooting.

Faced with nearly point-blank distances, one can only aim for a split second, but experts can kill the enemy before they’re shot, ensuring their own safety.

It’s about killing, not just hitting the enemy—there’s a big difference. Killing ensures complete safety; hitting just leaves the enemy capable of firing back. For a two-man attack team, any ounce of strength left in an enemy is unacceptable.

The Black Demon’s attack went exceptionally well; within moments, four rooms were cleared. The four old men kept going in and out amidst gunfire and explosions, enjoying the thrill.

Gao Yang raised his gun and fired twice in succession as people ran out of the room, along with Li Jinfang beside him, killing three people, while the attacking Black Demon didn’t even glance up, focused solely on opening doors and clearing rooms.

The Black Demon’s door-breaching operation was progressing smoothly, partially due to their use of a secret weapon.

Satan favored throwing shock grenades before entering rooms; shock grenades proved more effective than lethal grenades. The Black Demon, however, simply threw regular defensive grenades with added power.

The grenades used by the Black Demon followed an Old Russian principle: if precision isn’t enough, increase the power.

Throwing grenades into unfamiliar rooms made it difficult to ensure you hit hidden targets; the solution was either to throw more grenades or amplify their power. The Black Demon opted for increased power.

The grenades used by the Black Demon were wrapped in a thick layer of Fake Medicine, then enclosed with iron casing and steel balls. Each weighed at least three pounds, boasting power well beyond a 60mm mortar shell. Calling them grenades seemed inappropriate—they were more like small bombs.

With each grenade explosion, the entire floor trembled. Luckily, the hotel was built well enough to withstand such force; otherwise, in smaller buildings, a few enhanced grenades could bring them down.

The Black Demon was quite interesting: either staying completely silent with silencers on all weapons, or creating a sonic boom with powerful guns and enhanced grenades. On their path, they bulldozed everything with explosions.

Four teams moved simultaneously, the continuous explosions never stopped. Each old man carried a backpack filled with enhanced grenades, exchanging positions and roles before opening every door—grab from each other’s bag, toss them as soon as the door opened—a simple, direct, brutal yet effective tactic.

Increasingly, people attempted to charge out of the rooms, but each one was gunned down by Gao Yang and his team providing cover.

Trying to come out proved impossible; staying in the room resulted in others drawing their guns to shoot outside. But even this failed, since gunmanship was a basic skill for Satan Mercenary Corps members, and just sticking a gun out the door wasn’t enough—there was no time for spraying before they’d get shot along with their gun and arm.

Gao Yang and his team didn’t enter rooms; they focused solely on preventing people from coming out.

Room-clearing and grenade usage tactics amazed Gao Yang.

Following the Black Demon allowed Gao Yang to learn another trick, but he knew their tactics were only possible because of the Black Demon’s surpassing combat abilities. Though Satan could learn, it might take years of training.

A true expert simplifies complexity. If others see it as simple and think they can do it too, they’re in for a rude awakening.

Regardless of room size, just toss a grenade inside, then enter to finish them off. Gao Yang couldn’t understand how the Black Demon so easily breached doors without getting shot by occupants, as occupants weren’t dead or stupid; they were elites, yet somehow couldn’t shoot the grenade-bearing intruders during entry.

Reflecting on it, Gao Yang considered the only explanation to be that the Black Demon, Butter Knife, and Cerberus forces existed because they accomplished what others couldn’t; otherwise, if all units trained to be identical, there’d be no justification for spending lavishly to cultivate and maintain them.
