Chapter 1491: 1,472 chapters: Not Friends
Sirte really poked his head out for a look.
Gao Yang and the others were all wearing masks, so Sirte couldn’t see their faces, so Li Jinfang waved at Sirte and smiled, “Hey, Can Opener.”
Gao Yang pulled up his mask and said to the peeking Sirte, “Why is it you guys again? How did you pop up here?”
Sirte clearly breathed a sigh of relief and said to Gao Yang with a look of helplessness, “Damn, why is it you guys again? How do I keep running into you everywhere?”
Gao Yang said angrily, “Shouldn’t I be the one saying that?”
Sirte shook his head, stepped out completely, looked at the state of the eleventh floor, and shook his head again, “Quite the commotion.”
Another walked out from behind the wall, looked at the state of the eleventh floor, and couldn’t help but touch his chin, muttering, “You guys are pretty impressive now.”
Gao Yang recognized this one too, nicknamed Chainsaw, also an assault specialist like Sirte.
Chainsaw thought of the Black Demon’s men as Satan’s members, otherwise, he wouldn’t be so surprised.
No need to ask, there must be others behind Sirte and Chainsaw—they open the path or become cannon fodder, while those behind are the main force to break through the blockade. Now that everyone knows each other, there’s no need to die.
Gao Yang waved his hand and shouted, “Who’s behind there, what are you waiting for, come on down.”
Sirte shook his head, “No way, we have to go up.”
Gao Yang pointed to the rooftop and whispered, “Who’s up there? Besides you, who else? You guys get out of the way, we’re going to use bombs.”
Sirte still shook his head, “How can I tell you that, it’s so unprofessional, I’m going back, I can’t continue talking to you. If you have anything to say, talk to our boss.”
Sirte waved his hand and turned back with Chainsaw.
Gao Yang felt a headache coming; encountering Angels here made things tricky. If Beasley is on the twelfth floor, how would they fight? If they could talk to Angel and get them to hand over Beasley, it would be best, but Gao Yang knew Nate Schumacher well enough to know he would never agree.
If Angels refuse to back down, Satan will have to attack head-on. At this point, Gao Yang couldn’t just let it go; Beasley had to die.
Swearing under his breath, Gao Yang shouted, “Mad Wolf, say something, are you there?”
Nate Schumacher replied leisurely, “Yes, I’m here.”
Gao Yang impatiently said, “Come down, let’s talk; otherwise, I’ll come up.”
Nate slowly said, “I won’t come down. If you want to come up, then come up.”
Gao Yang said to his companions, “I’m going up to talk to him, let’s avoid a fight if we can. F**k, Angels everywhere, these damn bastards.”
Li Jinfang whispered, “I’ll go up with you.”
Gao Yang waved his hand, “No need, why would you come up? Is it necessary? Just stay here and keep watch, I’ll go up and assess the situation.”
Afterward, Gao Yang shouted, “I’m coming up, don’t shoot, okay?”
Gao Yang dodged into the stairway and went up to the landing, turning to see Nate Schumacher standing at the twelfth-floor stairway.
Seeing only two people with Nate, both Angels and no strangers, Gao Yang breathed a sigh of relief and said, “How do I run into you everywhere? I asked if you took on any task, and you wouldn’t tell me. F**k, can you not find so much trouble? Come on, what’s your mission? How do we resolve this?”
Nate’s expression seemed a bit odd; he frowned at Gao Yang, looking quite shocked.
Gao Yang stood right beside Nate, spreading his hands, “Come on, what’s your mission? Not speaking now? Do you really want us to fight our way up?”
Nate seemed like he didn’t recognize Gao Yang; he scrutinized him for a moment before suddenly saying, “What’s your mission?”
Gao Yang whispered, “It’s not a mission, it’s an objective. My objective is to take down everyone here. Of course, you all aren’t included; I don’t plan to take you out. Quickly, what’s your mission? Let’s see if we can avoid a clash.”
Nate smiled faintly, “Our mission is to protect the people here. Unfortunately, it can’t be avoided.”
Gao Yang frowned, “Shit, that’s troublesome. Who are you protecting? How many? Tell me, maybe we can find some common ground. If you can suspend your mission and leave, that would be great, I don’t want to fight you.”
Nate sighed, “How could I disclose the employer’s information to you? Could you guys leave immediately? If so, we wouldn’t have to fight.”
Gao Yang shook his head, “Leaving is impossible, absolutely impossible.”
Nate sighed, smiling at Gao Yang, “As a mercenary, how have you survived being this stupid?”
Gao Yang was stunned and said, “F**k, what do you mean?”
Nate sneered coldly, his face full of disdain, and said, “I’ve told you many times, Angels have no friends. What makes you think that you and I are friends?”
Gao Yang frowned and said, “What do you mean? Hey, man, are you trying to show off your values again?”
Nate said coldly, “I’ve been a mercenary for decades, and I’ve never seen anyone as stupid as you. Don’t you know that we’re in a hostile situation now? Your goal and my mission are irreconcilable, and yet you come to die willingly, so, just go ahead and die, Can Opener!”
Gao Yang had a chance to resist, but resisting would also mean death, because there were several people around Nate, and he really didn’t expect Nate to want to kill him.
Gao Yang’s eyes widened in utter shock; his shotgun hadn’t moved when Sulta snapped a shotgun up to his nose.
Gao Yang said in disbelief, “F**k, you asked me to come up. Even if we can’t talk it out, you don’t have to kill me, do you? What about your dignity as a soldier?”
Nate, with a face full of disgust, said, “I asked you to come up, but did I say I would guarantee your safety? I let you come up and you came, so why don’t you go die when I tell you to die? As a mercenary, how can you be so trusting of another mercenary in a hostile situation? Besides being an idiot, I really don’t know how else to describe you. Go die, shoot him!”
In that moment, Gao Yang was truly dumbfounded. The situation exceeded his capacity to handle it, to the point that when Sulta lifted his arm viciously to shoot, he made no response at all.
Li Jinfang, hearing Nate’s words from below, didn’t dare to rush up because he feared going out would hasten Nate’s killing of Gao Yang.
“Nate!”
Li Jinfang roared frantically, while Sulta, with a motion that would never occur under normal circumstances, made a greatly contorted gun gesture but could not pull the trigger in the end.
Sulta gritted his teeth, ultimately withdrew his shotgun, and turned to Nate with a helpless face, saying, “Sorry boss, but I owe him a life.”
Nate looked at Sulta with a furious face and said, “Useless.”
The group behind Nate also exchanged glances, because they were indeed quite familiar with Satan’s people.
Eileen shouted from below, “Nate! Don’t be impulsive. If you’re a man, let our boss come down, and let’s have a fair fight.”
Nate laughed and shrugged at Gao Yang, “Look at the bunch of idiots you’ve brought out. Let you go back? As the core and soul of Satan, if I don’t take you out to dismantle Satan’s combat power, am I going to let you go back to pose a greater threat to me? Chainsaw!”
Besides Sulta, Chainsaw was the closest to Nate, and at Nate’s shout, Chainsaw reflexively aimed his rifle at Gao Yang.
But after pointing his gun at Gao Yang, Chainsaw said with a helpless expression, “Sir, last time in South America, I got injured and Test Tube took good care of me. Ram and the others carried me around and looked after me while I recovered. Sorry boss, I can’t bring myself to do it.”
Gao Yang felt a glimmer of hope and grinned bitterly at Nate, “Brother, buddy, there’s no need for this, right? Even if we’re not friends, we’re so familiar with each other, do you really have to kill me? How about this, I’ll take a step back, is that okay? I’ll retreat, is that okay?”
Gao Yang relented, but Nate’s expression remained stern as he said, “Do you think I believe you? Is there really any way out for us in this line of work? You can’t retreat.”
Gao Yang truly couldn’t retreat; he really had to take out Beasley, so he wouldn’t withdraw. He would only launch a strong attack after safely returning. He really didn’t want to fight with the Angels, but he couldn’t lead Satan to destruction, so he had to attack fiercely; it was either the complete demise of Satan or the total elimination of the Angels.
Nate saw it clearly, but Gao Yang couldn’t admit it. He shrugged helplessly, “Why can’t I retreat? I haven’t taken any assignments, I really can…”
Before Gao Yang could finish speaking, Nate suddenly drew his pistol from his waist with lightning speed, aiming it at him. As Gao Yang fell silent in shock, Nate said with a helpless expression, “You see, we leaders have to think for the people following us. Sometimes we have to act ourselves. Go die.”
Gao Yang opened his mouth, and Nate fired.
Gao Yang was standing on the stairs, gazing in shock as Nate pulled the trigger, then fell backward suddenly, his head hitting the stairs hard, and his body sliding down to the turn in the stairs.
“Curtis your mother!”
Li Jinfang roared and rushed out.
“No!”
Frey also rushed in.
“Ah!”
Eileen screamed in despair, bypassed others, left her position, and rushed out directly.
Li Jinfang grabbed a grenade in his hand. He didn’t care anymore; even knowing that the Angel Mercenary Corps had turned hostile, and rushing out would definitely get him killed, he couldn’t care less. He rushed to Gao Yang’s side, tossed the grenade upward, grabbed Gao Yang’s arm, and began pulling him back.
Frey was somewhat at a loss, but after seeing Li Jinfang’s actions, he grabbed the other arm of Gao Yang, intending to pull him back with Li Jinfang before saying anything else.
Li Jinfang and Frey leaned over, with Eileen at the bottom of the stairs. As Gao Yang was dragged down, she threw her arms around Gao Yang’s neck and then shouted in despair, “NO!” (To be continued.
