CHAPTER 391: CHAPTER 339 SUPERNATURAL ABILITY INSURANCE_2

"Why don’t you buy an insurance policy from me..."

Feng Tingyue was completely bewildered. What Yan Xing had said earlier was true. No one knew what risks lay behind studying Tong Yitong’s abilities. But no matter how one tried to stop it, people would surely conduct research in secret, aiming to gain power, health, or longevity. This project couldn’t be stopped now. Yan Xing had suddenly changed the topic to selling insurance!

"CEO Yan," Feng Tingyue asked, "what does your insurance cover?"

While picking up some food, Yan Xing said to Feng Tingyue, "Let’s not consider something as risky as human evolution for now; the risk is too great. You can mess around with superpower research however you like. Whatever monsters, demons, or malevolent spirits you conjure up that you can’t handle, I’ll take care of them for you. How about it? Isn’t this insurance worth investing in?"

After listening, Feng Tingyue felt this insurance was indeed worth buying. After all, Tong Yitong’s situation clearly demonstrated that obtaining superpowers was a dangerous affair. Moreover, Tong Yitong had been personally trained by Yan Xing, yet she still experienced such uncontrollable changes. The laboratories of Renlun Investment Bank, lacking any data and developing blindly, would surely run into problems in the future. If Yan Xing was willing to handle incidents that Renlun Investment Bank couldn’t manage, it would resolve all their future worries. This insurance was a must-buy!

"CEO Yan, how do we purchase this insurance? What’s the premium? And under what conditions are claims accepted?"

Facing a major client practically begging to be fleeced, Yan Xing chuckled. He slapped the list Chui Chui had given him onto the table and said to Feng Tingyue, "Prepare everything on this list for me, and that will count as your purchase of the superpower development insurance. If there’s something you can’t beat, find Little Tong. If Little Tong can’t beat it, find me. If there’s something even I can’t beat, well, then just wait for the world to end. Therefore... you still need to tread carefully. Don’t think that just because you’ve bought insurance, you’re completely worry-free."

Feng Tingyue picked up the list from the table. Even though no prices were stated, the contents still made her gasp. These pieces of equipment... they probably couldn’t be acquired for less than ten billion, right? And some of these items are rather sensitive. I wonder if the company leadership will approve. In any case, this insurance isn’t something I can decide on.

"CEO Yan... regarding this insurance, I’ll need to consult company leadership. Can the price be reduced a little? After all, even if we have friendly units help us procure them, these items will still cost a lot of money."

Yan Xing was counting on this one deal to secure the initial equipment for his super-armament. How could he possibly lower the price?

"Sister Feng, is the cost of this equipment even comparable to the investment in superpower research? With even minor results from your research, you’d earn back the cost of this insurance. I’m literally putting my life on the line to underwrite this policy for you. Tell me, what do you think my life is worth?"

Feng Tingyue didn’t dare to get drawn into a discussion about the value of Yan Xing’s life. Besides, it wasn’t her money being spent. The decision to purchase the insurance or not rested with the company’s senior leadership.

"Alright, our company will give CEO Yan a response as soon as possible." Feng Tingyue put the procurement list in her bag, then took out a piece of paper and handed it to Yan Xing. "Regarding the group that kidnapped Miss Tong, we’ve found some information."

Yan Xing’s smile vanished, and he grew serious as he accepted the paper. Tong Yitong also leaned in curiously to look.

The ones who kidnapped Tong Yitong were part of an international smuggling organization called "Blue Jellyfish." They had secretly built a submarine base on Gryphon Island (formerly Bolorobin Island) to use as a transfer station for smuggled goods. Currently, there was no evidence to suggest the Zhao Family knew about this transfer station. A friendly unit of Renlun Investment Bank had activated an informant within the Blue Jellyfish organization. This informant had learned that some people managed to escape alive from the destroyed submarine base, and they had taken some important items with them.

At this point, Feng Tingyue said, "According to intelligence we gathered later, the survivors likely took items related to Miss Tong’s abilities... possibly including video recordings, and it’s highly probable there are blood and tissue samples. However, these items are not something our informant can access. Currently, Blue Jellyfish is secretly searching for buyers for these items. Our friendly units are actively working to recover these... personal belongings of Miss Tong."

Yan Xing hadn’t expected anyone to have escaped from that environment. No wonder they were international smugglers; their escape skills were quite formidable.

As for the recordings, blood, and tissue samples they took... Yan Xing, having just sold an insurance policy to Renlun Investment Bank, had a change of perspective. Although his momentary lapse caused some power from the Magic World to spread into the real world, had he really incurred any loss, upon reflection? It might even turn out to be a big business opportunity. Since it has already happened, it’s better to just wait and see how things develop. All I need to do now is focus on developing the Eternal Domain and fully support Chui Chui with all funds and resources to climb the alchemy tech tree. As long as I can get the super-weaponry created... even if those ancient gods reappear, this old man will punch Poseidon, kick Apollo, capture Athena, and sleep with Aphrodite... HAHAHA!

"You guys handle this matter..."

「In the days that followed,」 Yan Xing traveled between the Eternal Domain and Gryphon Island, managing the development of his territory and negotiating the insurance agreement for superpower research.

Meanwhile, in a dilapidated castle deep within the forests of Northern Europe, a group of people in white robes and pointed white hats stood in a circle within a gloomy, damp basement, each holding a candle. They chanted verses in ancient Latin, seemingly praising some ancient Demon God. An older woman, dressed in noticeably finer robes, stood at the center of the circle, a dagger clutched in her hands.

After the chanting ceased, five individuals emerged from the shadows. They carried blood urns, using horsetail brushes dipped in blood to draw symbols on the stone floor. Three others then placed various items related to ancient witchcraft at different locations on the marked floor. As the ritual progressed, a faint breeze began to stir within the sealed basement. The appearance of this strange phenomenon prompted the group to resume their chanting. Once the ritual formation was complete and the items correctly positioned, everyone retreated from the center, leaving the elderly woman standing there, still clutching the dagger.

A man in even finer attire emerged from the shadows, holding a vial of red reagent. He approached the woman and asked, "Are you willing to offer your heart to the Demon God we worship?"

The woman replied, "I am willing to offer my heart to the Demon God; I have already felt the Demon God calling to me. But is your spiritual medium genuine? You must know, the last of the true spiritual mediums were depleted centuries ago. Many descendants of Witches have died in vain under this Demon God’s Key."

The man carefully removed the wooden stopper from the vial and cautiously sprinkled the reagent onto the surface of the dagger in the woman’s hand. "This reagent cost me a great deal of money—enough to cure your son’s illness a hundred times over. Even if you don’t trust this spiritual medium, you should at least trust the money I spent.

"Whether this ritual succeeds or not, I guarantee your son will live a long and healthy life; all the members here can attest to that.

"Look... The Demon God’s Key is already changing! It seems my money wasn’t spent in vain.

"Come now, Witch! Pursue your faith, fulfill your purpose! Offer your heart to the Demon God, and in return, He shall grant me supreme power!"

The wind in the basement intensified, yet the candlelight in the members’ hands burned steadily, undisturbed. This phenomenon, never before witnessed in their rituals, excited everyone. But at this solemn moment, they held fast to their duties, awaiting the Demon God’s advent.

The dagger in the old woman’s hand began to emit a faint red glow. The light illuminated her wrinkled face, and in her eyes, a spark of hope. Ancient powers demanded an equivalent exchange. A heart was this Demon God’s most favored gift.

The old woman aimed the dagger at her own heart. Suddenly, an ethereal hand, its fingers tipped with long, sharp nails, materialized from thin air and gripped hers. Illusory whispers brushed against her ears. Before her, the man’s face was a mask of extreme, twisted excitement. The old woman closed her eyes. An unseen force guided her hand, plunging the dagger into her chest.
