MHA: Man Of Steel
Chapter 23 23: Battle Training!
He walked around for a bit, spotting familiar faces from canon — students from Class B, a few support course kids, even some third-years. He didn't stop to talk to any of them, though. That would just add more to his plate. He already had Class 1-A to deal with, and that alone was a full-time job.
By the time he made his way back, the bell rang, pulling students into their seats. Izuku stepped inside and slid into his chair like nothing happened.
"Where did you go?" Uraraka asked, turning around with a curious tilt of her head.
"Just wanted to get a better look at the school," he said casually, leaning back. "Walked all the way to the top floor. The view from there is pretty nice."
"That sounds nice," she said, smiling. "Oh, did you check your phone?"
"Hm? Why?" he asked, pulling it out. The screen lit up — a flood of notifications from the class group chat. Message after message asking where he was.
He glanced up to see almost everyone staring at him. Mina was pouting. Kaminari looked dramatic about it. Even Todoroki's gaze briefly flicked his way, though it was impossible to tell if he actually cared. Katsuki wasn't even mad about this — he just gave his usual "I hate you" glare.
"Oh. Yeah… sorry," Izuku said, sounding anything but sorry.
'Man, why are they on my dick? Is it because I have that main-character aura? Makes sense… but damn, I just wanted to pull the ladies. Guess this is the price of being the protagonist,' he thought, leaning back in his chair with a smirk.
Then his thoughts shifted, sharper now.
'No… this is good. I should start my plan. How I'm gonna make every girl in this class my girl.'
He rested his chin in his hand, glancing around the room like a king surveying his kingdom.
Suddenly, the door slammed open with enough force to rattle it on its track.
"I AM… COMING INTO THE ROOM NORMALLY!" All Might's booming voice filled the air as he strode in, larger than life.
The room erupted instantly.
"It's All Might!" Kirishima shouted, practically bouncing in place.
"Yeah—he's even cooler in person!" Kaminari said, eyes wide and watery like he was seeing a celebrity for the first time.
All Might struck his usual iconic pose, grin wide. "Hero Basic Training is the class that will put you through all kinds of special training—designed to mold you all into the great heroes of tomorrow! No time to dally! Today's activity is…!!"
He paused for dramatic effect, muscles tensing.
"BATTLE TRAINING!"
"Battle training?" Momo repeated, adjusting her posture with interest.
"Will we be fighting against each other?" Iida asked, already standing as if expecting orders.
"I'll answer your questions later," All Might said, waving it off. "But before we begin, you'll need… these!"
He pressed a button on a remote, and the back wall of the room split into segments, mechanical arms sliding forward with numbered storage cases.
"In accordance with the Quirk Registry, and based on the requests you filled out before being admitted… you will now wear your… HERO COSTUMES!"
The room practically exploded in cheers and chatter, everyone excitedly talking about their designs.
"Now, now, settle down! After you change, come out in ranking order to Ground Beta, okay?!"
The class split into groups, heading for the locker rooms. Izuku headed into the boys' side, opening his container to reveal his costume—a sleek black Superman-style suit, minus the cape.
'This feels nice,' he thought as he slid it on, flexing his shoulders. 'Material's nowhere near as good as my real suit, unsurprisingly… but it's fine for now.'
Stepping outside, the sun's warmth hit him instantly. His body seemed to hum as he felt the solar energy soaking in.
'Yep. Works perfectly. Black makes it easier for me to absorb sunlight. When I go Pro, I'll switch to the classic blue and red… or maybe black and red. Either way, it's gonna look amazing.'
"Nice suit, Izuku," Kirishima said, giving him a thumbs up. "What's the 'S' stand for?"
"Oh, it's not actually an S," Izuku replied, smiling. "It's a symbol. It means… Hope."
Kirishima looked seconds away from tearing up. "Man… you're a real man, Izuku."
Izuku laughed. "Thanks. Let's get moving before All Might scolds us."
"Hey, Izuku—wanna hang out after school?" Mineta asked, jogging up.
"Huh? Oh, I saw you guys added me to that boys' group chat. Sure, I don't mind," Izuku said casually.
"Cool, then we've got everyone… except Bakugo and Todoroki," Sero chimed in as they walked toward the training grounds.
"Did they say no, or did you guys just… not ask?" Izuku asked, raising an eyebrow.
"It's the second one," Ojiro admitted, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
"Oh, alright. Then I'll go ask them," Izuku said casually. "We need to unite as a class. No point leaving people out—it's just bad team chemistry."
Kirishima's eyes immediately began to glisten. "I'll say it again… you're the man, bro. Can I call you 'Big Bro'?" he asked, voice trembling with pure admiration.
Izuku smirked. "Uh, sure. Just… don't do it in front of the girls. Can't have you losing aura points—you'll thank me later."
Kirishima gasped like he'd just been handed the secrets of the universe. "Bro… you're looking out for me?!"
"Can we also call you Big Bro?" the other boys blurted almost in unison, even Kaminari who was halfway into tying his costume zipper.
The only one who didn't say anything was Iida—though behind those stiff glasses, he was chewing on his pride.
'He's so cool though…' Iida thought.
On the other side…
All Might stood near the training field with the girls, who were already in their hero costumes, waiting for the boys to finally show up.
"Where are they?" Momo asked, arms crossed in mild irritation. Her pristine hero outfit looked completely untouched, as if she had been ready the moment the locker opened.
"Probably doing something weird," Jiro muttered, idly tapping her finger against one of her earphone jacks.
"And here I thought women take longer getting ready," All Might said with a chuckle.
The air went dead silent.
Five pairs of eyes locked on him—well, six if you counted Hagakure, though her glare was invisible.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Hagakure's voice rang out sharply.
"We don't take long!" Uraraka chimed in, her cheeks puffing in indignation.
"Yeah, some of us were ready in under two minutes," Mina added, hands on her hips.
All Might stiffened, immediately throwing his hands up defensively. "Alright, I'm APOLOGIZING NORMALLY!" he exclaimed in his booming voice.
'Note to self—never make generalized comments about women again,' he thought, feeling a cold bead of sweat roll down his temple.
