Mini World Game Console
Chapter 65 Level 2 Player
CHAPTER 65: CHAPTER 65 LEVEL 2 PLAYER
EDITOR: DRAGON BOAT TRANSLATION
Whether it was "Slaughter Rain of Blood" or "Jedi Priest," even though their discounted prices were very affordable, Ren Suo couldn’t afford them at the moment.
Ren Suo currently only had 24 Merit Points, basically meaning he couldn’t afford games unless they were on sale (getting the keychain from Qiao Muyi had deducted 1 point).
It wasn’t that there were no games in the Mini-World Game Console, but the ones featured in the exclusive column were generally never priced under three digits.
So, Ren Suo could only afford games when they were on sale.
Now, Ren Suo could confirm that the Mini-World Game Console would definitely have long-term sales during certain widely recognized global festivals, like April Fool’s Day or International Labor Day. As for whether there would be discounts during the Mysterious Country National Day or Western Christmas, he didn’t know.
Although the Mini-World Game Console would offer discounts in the name of the Twenty-Four Solar Terms of Mysterious Country, unfortunately, those discounts only lasted for the day itself.
So, whether to buy or not was a decision he had to make within a single day.
Even if Ren Suo took a leave of absence, he couldn’t clear "Over My Dead Body" again in one day, and thus he was stuck in difficult hesitation all day long.
If he missed it, then he truly missed it. If there wasn’t another discount, Ren Suo would need to prepare more than one hundred Merit Points to buy the game. This would involve spending 10 Merit Points just to search and then make the purchase. He might as well save up for those games that were still expensive even when discounted.
Of course, his real intention wasn’t to buy games; he desperately wanted one of the exclusive game rewards!
Therefore, he had to first upload his mission evaluation for "Over My Dead Body" to earn the Merit Points needed to buy new games.
"Over My Dead Body" and "Assassin" differed. The "Bloody Banquet" Chapter of "Assassin" was time-limited; the time allowed was less than a day, leaving Ren Suo with no chance to improve his score by grinding.
Although "Over My Dead Body" was challenging, it would be false to say that Ren Suo couldn’t continue to improve his score.
Besides, his current save wasn’t the best possible perfect start. If Ren Suo was willing to spend the time, achieving a dream start with three 14-year-olds wasn’t out of the question.
And while the Shield-form Cultivators were powerful, Ren Suo also wondered: what if every generation’s Family Head specialized in a different profession? If they Cultivated non-stop with "Unlimited Energy," could that lead to more comprehensive development?
Although this game didn’t allow reloading saves, the timing of Cao Zhi becoming the King of Juan City was fixed. This meant it wasn’t impossible to reenact the event of obtaining the Goddess Jade Pendant.
And the most powerful ’Strange Creature’ in the game, the Azure Dragon Crescent Blade, surely had its own storyline; the problem was Ren Suo hadn’t found it yet...
There was also Cao Cao’s Seventy-Two Suspected Tombs, an optional piece of exploratory content. It was just that exploring it coincided with the period before the Battle of Yiling, and Ren Suo had been busy having the Ren Family Cultivators focus on their Cultivation.
His current score of 75 was considered ’Excellent.’ This meant if he was willing, he was highly likely capable of reaching an ’Extraordinary’ score of 80.
Even with a score of 75 in "Over My Dead Body," he still hadn’t received any further hints. Ren Suo wondered if it was because the game knew he could do better (Yes, Ren Suo suspected the game console knew his thoughts and intentions!) or if the game was simply designed to only give hints for scores above 80 points.
But if Ren Suo received game hints at 80 points, he could very likely reach 90!
He’d never scored 90 before!
Ren Suo didn’t actually care about the scores themselves; it was just that the higher the score, the more Merit Points he earned.
So Ren Suo was conflicted all day long—
If I buy the game, I have to upload the mission evaluation now, losing quite a few potential Merit Points.
But if I don’t buy the game, I’ll miss this chance!
However, when Ren Suo pressed the confirm button, there was no turning back.
"Mission evaluation uploaded. You have earned 36 Merit Points. Please use them wisely."
"You have received one Two-Star Treasure Box, which can be opened in the Content Preservation Vault."
"You have received the exclusive reward: Strong Heart Technique, which can be opened in the Content Preservation Vault."
"’Over My Dead Body’ upload complete. Thank you for playing. Endless Fun in the Mini World!"
"You have received a new message."
36 Merit Points! Added to his original 24, that’s 60 Merit Points!
However, for a score of 75 this time, he only received 36 Merit Points. That’s only 45% of the maximum 80 Merit Points... How on earth is that calculated?
Ren Suo quickly opened the "Grain Rain Solar Term Sales Event!" and chose to purchase a game.
He had only two choices: "Slaughter Rain of Blood" or "Jedi Priest"!
"Slaughter Rain of Blood"
"This game is a role-playing action puzzle game where the player will embody an amnesiac Awakener wandering through Manhattan City, a place eternally shrouded in a Rain Curtain, as you pursue the truth behind the world’s changes and your own lost memories. Completing this game can reward up to 120 Merit Points, with an exclusive reward of ’Rain Enhancement.’ It contains only one Chapter with no subsequent expansion Chapters. In-app purchases are available, and the game difficulty is: One-Star."
"Jedi Priest"
"This game is a role-playing competitive rescue game. As the Lord of Billion Brilliance, the Permanent Burning Heart, and the Monarch of Wind, Rain, and Snow are about to return, they have decided to grant all beings a beautiful, fair, and joyous Priest selection competition. Completing this game can reward up to 150 Merit Points, with an exclusive reward of ’Touch of Healing.’ It contains only one Chapter with no subsequent expansion Chapters. In-app purchases are available, and the game difficulty is: Two-Star."
The Merit Point rewards for both games were substantial, but not so much when compared to their prices.
"Slaughter Rain of Blood" had an original price of 90 Merit Points and rewarded 120 Merit Points, an effective gain of only 30 Merit Points... and that was only if you achieved a 100-point score.
"Jedi Priest" had an original price of 100 Merit Points and rewarded 150 Merit Points, a 50-point difference, but its difficulty was Two-Star.
Ren Suo did wonder why, despite being expensive games, the rewards for "Assassin" and "Over My Dead Body" were so low.
But he’d figured that out a while ago—it was because he had only played one Chapter of each.
A single Chapter alone offered a maximum of at least 40 or 80 Merit Points. If there were more than five Chapters, the total could easily surpass 400. In fact, Ren Suo felt that the difficulty and rewards for subsequent Chapters of these games would likely increase, possibly more than he expected.
Especially "Over My Dead Body." It seemed to involve all periods of historical unrest: the Upheaval of the Five Barbarians, the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, the Jingkang Incident, and the hundred-year Yuan Dynasty...
Counting them, that was already more than five. If Ren Suo were to purchase this game, spending a year and a half grinding it wouldn’t be out of the question.
Of course, this game would undoubtedly be explosively expensive. Assuming each Chapter’s maximum reward was at least 80 Merit Points, counting them all would bring the total close to 500 Merit Points. A game that could yield so many Merit Points would definitely cost a considerable amount to purchase.
Anyway, if it wasn’t on sale, Ren Suo couldn’t afford it.
Ren Suo selected "Purchase!"
"You have received a new message."
Ren Suo was startled for a moment. He still couldn’t buy it? He glanced at the time—11:51 PM, almost midnight!
Ren Suo hurriedly opened the message bar to check the messages. As soon as he clicked on the message titled "Congratulations from the Mini World," the screen briefly flashed.
A default game Player avatar suddenly popped up in the center of the screen, with Ren Suo’s game ID written below it: Ren Naiser.
Below the game ID was a sparkling five-pointed star, which then contracted its light to transform into a second five-pointed star, squeezing in behind the first one!
"Congratulations on being promoted to a Level 2 Player!"
"+1 to spare slots in the Equipment Interface."
"You may choose one of the following Player’s Privileges as a reward."
"① Meticulous Calculation: When making any Merit Points expenditure in the Minor World, you have a 50% chance to reduce the required Merit Points by 1 (single transaction cannot be less than 1 Merit Point)."
"② Novice Player: Each time you receive a Merit Points reward, the Merit Points gained are increased by 5% (cannot be less than 1 Merit Point)."
"③ Picky Freeloader: After the monthly free game refreshes, and before you choose the free game for the month, you can replace one of the free games. The Merit Points reward for the new free game will definitely be 10% higher than the game it replaced."
