CHAPTER 268: CHAPTER 268: MELODY, YOU’RE BURNING THE BRIDGE AFTER CROSSING THE RIVER!
"Haha... How could we not like you? Holly, you probably don’t know how adorable you are!" Benjamin Parker laughed heartily.
"Haha... Benjamin, we should definitely take Holly out with us." Daniel Davies said with a smile.
Holly immediately spoke excitedly, "That’s great, little master. This way, I can see you every day!"
...
Melody Parker sat on the living room sofa, her gaze gentle as she watched the kids play with Holly, a warm and bright smile never leaving her face.
Adrian Davies sat beside her, playing with her soft little hand, seductively whispering, "Melody, isn’t it nice for the four of us like this?"
Melody Parker looked at the kids, instinctively nodding.
Realizing what she had done, she immediately stood up from the sofa, pretending as if nothing had happened, and calmly walked into the kitchen.
Adrian Davies indulgently watched her leaving figure, not chasing after her but instead getting up to go to the kids’ bedroom, borrowing their computer to handle Davies Group’s work.
When Adrian Davies finished his work and came out of the kids’ bedroom, Melody Parker had already prepared dinner.
He walked into the kitchen, holding Melody Parker in his arms, kissing her on the cheek, "Melody, thank you for your hard work."
Melody Parker glared at Adrian Davies, "Serve the dishes."
"Alright." Adrian Davies replied good-naturedly, releasing his hold from Melody Parker’s waist and proceeded to serve the dishes she made.
The family of four enjoyed a warm dinner together.
After dinner, Melody Parker accompanied the two children to their bedroom.
After watching the kids fall asleep, she contentedly turned off the bedroom light and walked out of their small room.
Passing through the living room and seeing no one there, Melody Parker couldn’t help but mutter softly, "That man, doesn’t he know to say a word before leaving? Does he think of this place as a hotel? Coming and going as he pleases!"
Unhappily, she pushed open the bedroom door, took some comfortable pajamas, and went to take a shower, still carrying some emotions.
But when Melody Parker came out of the bathroom after her shower, she was suddenly surprised to see that the man hadn’t left; he was standing on the balcony, making a phone call.
Melody Parker’s eyes were filled with puzzlement, "Where was the man just now? How did she not notice him?"
Thinking this, Melody Parker’s inexplicable little emotions instantly vanished.
She wiped her damp hair while walking towards the balcony.
"That’s it." The man said, hanging up the phone.
Then he turned around, looking at the woman approaching him, and gently spoke, "Melody."
Melody Parker stopped wiping her hair, looked at the man, and asked, "Adrian, is the company very busy?"
"It’s alright." Adrian Davies replied to Melody Parker’s question while taking the towel from her hand, continuing her previous task, gently drying her wet hair.
Being treated like this by the man, Melody Parker didn’t feel anything.
After all, during their days in Europe, the man had meticulously cared for her, and she had long been accustomed to it.
She let the man dry her hair, looking at him as she spoke, "Adrian, you’ve delayed long enough. Go back and rest. Don’t worry about the kids being here with me; I’ll take good care of them. If there’s nothing urgent, you don’t have to come here, and just manage the company’s affairs well."
This woman, he had cared for in Europe for more than a week.
Because of her poor health, he didn’t even know how many times he had taken cold showers each day.
Now she’s heartlessly trying to send him away.
How could that be?
Adrian Davies indulgently looked at the woman’s refreshed post-bath face, breathing in her natural fragrance, his body temperature involuntarily rising.
His hands continued drying, his voice gentle as he asked, "Melody, are you crossing the river and tearing down the bridge?"
Melody Parker was bewildered.
What crossing the river and tearing down the bridge?
By then, Adrian Davies had almost dried Melody Parker’s hair.
He tossed the towel aside, reached out to embrace the woman’s waist, pulling her into his arms, "Melody, I rescued you from Y Country and personally cared for you for so long. Now you’re trying to send me away. If that’s not crossing the river and tearing down the bridge, then what is?"
Before Melody could say anything, Adrian continued, "Melody, I said before, wherever you and the kids are, that’s where my home is."
Melody Parker: "..."
He did say that, but did she agree?
Adrian Davies didn’t care what Melody Parker thought and continued, "Melody, this is my home. Where else do you suggest I go?"
While speaking, Adrian’s long, gentle hands held Melody Parker’s delicate, fair hand.
He happily played with the gold-embedded jade bracelet on Melody Parker’s wrist, his voice gentle yet authoritative, saying, "You accepted the Davies family’s treasure, so you’re now a wife of the Davies clan. From the moment you wore this bracelet, you and I are one!"
With the man’s actions, Melody Parker’s gaze fell on that ancient jade bracelet.
She knew it all along that once she accepted the bracelet, this thick-skinned man would become even more thick-skinned and have more leverage in his words.
But now the bracelet was already on her hand, could she still back out now?
As if reading Melody’s thoughts, Adrian, in a smug manner, continued playing with the jade bracelet, domineeringly saying, "Melody, wear this bracelet properly, and don’t take it off."
After saying that, Adrian suddenly lifted Melody up.
"Ah!..." Surprised by the sudden lift, Melody let out a gasp.
Instinctively, she wrapped her arms around the man’s neck, her bright eyes glaring at the man, "Adrian, what are you doing?"
Adrian lowered his head, his dark eyes intently fixed on Melody, "Hmm! Of course, I want to do!"
Melody got angry: This damn man!
She was asking why he suddenly lifted her up, and he wanted to do what? Hmph!...
Suddenly, realizing something, Melody’s fair cheeks quickly turned red.
Adrian carried the woman, striding steadily, while his eyes intensely admired her alluring and pure face, his voice hoarse, filled with burning warmth, "Melody, I’ve endured for a long time. Do you think I should or shouldn’t?"
"..." This scoundrel, Melody’s face turned even redder.
The man’s deep eyes were steaming with an intense longing.
They seemed to form a vortex, powerful enough to swallow Melody whole.
Melody turned her face away, not daring to meet the man’s gaze.
The flames in his eyes threatened to ignite her at any moment.
Just as Melody turned her face away, Adrian lowered his head, and the kiss meant for her lips landed softly on her alluringly white neck.
