CHAPTER 292: CHAPTER 292: GRANDMOTHER PASSES AWAY, YOUNG MASTER DAVIES GRIEF-STRICKEN...
After Bella Sutton left, Adrian Davies gradually calmed down under Tannis’s medication.
Locke supported Adrian Davies to sit by the bed and brought over a clean set of clothes. "Sir, change into some fresh clothes and take a rest. You need to visit the old lady tomorrow."
Despite his dazed state, Adrian clearly remembered his grandmother’s situation.
His grandmother didn’t have much time left, and he needed to be with her.
He suddenly stood up from the bed and immediately went to walk out.
"Sir, where are you..." Thinking of something, Locke swallowed his unfinished words and spoke again, "Sir, even if you want to see the old lady now, you should at least change your clothes. The old lady will be heartbroken to see you like this."
Adrian halted, his fierce gaze sweeping over Locke.
Then, without saying a word, he picked up the clothes he had thrown on the bed and walked into the bathroom.
A few minutes later, Adrian came out of the bathroom.
Aside from his pale face and eyes filled with irritable tension, Adrian, dressed in all-black, had regained his stern, icy, and meticulous handsome demeanor.
He strode forward.
Locke followed closely behind him.
But as they reached the doorway, he stopped once more.
He had just had an attack and might have another one at any time.
He couldn’t go to the hospital now and worry his grandmother.
Adrian, enveloped in coldness, returned to the bedroom and lay down on the bed, forcing himself to sleep.
He needed to recover quickly, to accompany his grandmother, to walk with her through the last steps of her life.
Seeing Adrian lie down to rest, Locke quietly retreated, gently closing the door.
The next morning, as soon as the sky began to lighten, Adrian woke up from his slumber.
Without bothering to eat, he rushed straight to the hospital.
He spent the entire day in the hospital, taking care of his grandmother in every detail.
It was as if nothing had happened the night before.
He massaged the elderly woman’s legs, kneaded her shoulders, and shared amusing stories about his two treasures, speaking of his newly begun happy life.
He watched the elderly woman sleep, sitting quietly beside her, imprinting her image deeply into his heart.
Since he couldn’t stop the elder’s steps, he would do his best to accompany her, to spend her last days with her...
In the early hours of that night, the Davies family grandmother passed away.
She departed peacefully, a serene smile resting at the corners of her mouth.
Seeing his grandmother’s hand fall limp, watching her take her final breath, listening to the piercing noise of the medical equipment, Adrian could no longer hold back, and broke into sobbing cries.
He knelt by the old woman’s bedside, crying like a lost child.
His grandmother was gone!
The grandmother who watched him grow, who accompanied him through nightmares was gone!
He had lost yet another close kin, one who had given him countless care and love!
...
In River City, the two children had already gone to school.
Melody Parker sat alone in the living room, feeling a bit frustrated thinking about a certain man who had been missing for two days.
She didn’t know where he went or what he was doing.
She only knew that from the night before last, this man suddenly disappeared without a trace.
"Really, what does he think this place is? A hotel? He leaves when he wants and disappears at will! Even if he has to travel for business or has other matters, he should at least inform me!"
She waited two days for a call from him but received none.
Even though she felt resentment, she remained unchanged in front of the children, afraid they might notice something was off.
After all, she realized that the children sided with that man.
Especially Daniel.
If Daniel found out, and then told that man, wouldn’t he be overly pleased?
Would he think she had feelings for him and couldn’t bear to be without him for a moment?
No!
This had nothing to do with feelings or dependence on him at all!
This was a matter of basic respect!
With these thoughts clear, Melody Parker took out her phone, ready to call the man and give him a good scolding.
But just as she took out her phone and hadn’t dialed yet, her phone rang first.
Seeing the man’s number, Melody Parker murmured softly, "Oh, you remember to call me!"
After finishing, she swiped her phone and answered.
The man’s sorrowful voice reached her directly, "Melody, grandma... she’s gone!..."
Melody Parker was stunned in the spot, forgetting all reactions.
Grandma passed away?
That kind old lady, who kindly patted her hand, spoke gently with her, and wanted to entrust Adrian to her, how could she just be gone?
"Melody, bring the kids over, to send grandma off on her last journey." Adrian cried bitterly, his voice void of all strength like his soul was lost.
"Okay." Melody Parker agreed immediately without hesitation.
He must be heartbroken, right?
Just hearing his voice, she felt the same sorrow.
She wanted to comfort him but couldn’t find the right words.
Finally, she merely whispered, "Adrian, the kids and I are all here."
...
After hanging up, Melody Parker immediately went to the school.
She picked up the children early and took them on a flight to Europe.
They saw the elderly lady one last time, accompanied Adrian in cremating her, and together they held a funeral for her.
On the day of the funeral, the sky was overcast with a misty drizzle.
Adrian, clad in black, knelt in grief before the tombstone, "Grandma, have you seen grandpa? He must be very happy to see you..."
Melody Parker stood by Adrian’s side, silently shedding tears.
Benjamin Parker and Daniel Davies stood behind Adrian, mourning the passing of their great grandmother together.
Time ticked away, and after what seemed like an eternity, Adrian stood up from the ground.
Perhaps it was from kneeling for too long, as Adrian staggered upon standing, almost collapsing back down to his knees.
"Adrian..."
Melody Parker reached out in time to support Adrian.
Adrian managed a pained smile, "I’m fine."
Speaking, he grabbed Melody Parker’s small hand with his trembling large hand, "Melody, come with me to pay respects to grandpa, dad, and mom."
In the distance of the cemetery, Bella Sutton stood alone, dressed in black.
Upon seeing the man stagger, she instinctively moved forward.
But as she lifted her step, she noticed another woman swiftly supporting him.
"Heh..." She forced a bitter smile on her elegant face, her gray eyes fixated on Melody Parker.
That position should have been hers!
The appearance of that woman caused her current dispute with Adrian!
Upon hearing of grandma’s passing, she rushed to the hospital immediately.
Disregarding her own injuries, all she wanted was to accompany the man who might be heartbroken.
