Chapter 408: Untangle
CHAPTER 408: UNTANGLE
THE LAST thing Winter remembered was being on the Plane with Julian, Solenn, and Saint Forrester.
Then I think I fell into a hole or something.
When he came to be, he found himself in a strange place.
He was pretty sure there wasn’t a river on the Plane.
Where am I?
"Child, are you alright?"
Winter scoffed when he heard the voice of another child asking him if he was alright. "I’m not a child..."
Oh.
Red hair.
Sad, familiar eyes.
A face that he couldn’t mistake with someone else.
Winter let out a gasp. "Julian?"
Why does my older brother look so young?
"Take my hand," Julian offered while extending his hand to him. "You’ll catch a cold if you stay in the water. Don’t you feel cold?"
Winter scoffed.
Why would the cold bother me when I inherited our father’s ice and water abilities?
Even so, it wasn’t like he could say that to Julian.
After calming down, Winter realized that he was probably sent back to the past— the past where Julian lived as Julian Moonchester.
But, in this timeline, I don’t exist as a human.
To be honest, Winter got worried because his physical features might looked similar to...
Huh?
Winter’s trains of thought was interrupted when he saw it— his reflection on the water.
Plain brown hair.
Plain brown eyes.
Plain features.
This isn’t my face!
Winter also belatedly realized that he could barely summon his power.
It was as if he had become a normal person!
"No, this can’t be," Winter whispered to himself while holding his face. "I’ve become a commoner?"
"You do look like a commoner, child."
Tsk.
Winter glared at Julian.
And then he realized that his older brother was, indeed, wearing fancy clothes that befitted his status.
Well, he’s practically the Crown Prince in this era.
"Are you a child of a fallen noble household?" Julian asked worriedly. "It seems like you looked shocked after realizing your new reality."
Haaah.
Julian was still a child, but he already talked like an old man.
This is his first life, isn’t it?
His brother really didn’t have a normal life, huh?
"Let’s just say you’re right," Winter said, sighing. And then he extended his hand to Julian. "Help me?"
Julian smiled and nodded, then he grabbed Winter’s hand and pulled him out of the water. "You must be feeling cold," he said, letting go of Winter’s hand when he was finally standing on the side of the river. Then his older brother removed the first layer of his clothes— a clothing similar to a jacket. "Here. Wear this."
"I said I’m not cold— achoo!"
Haaah.
Winter couldn’t believe that he sneezed just because he suddenly felt cold.
How could the son of the Black Serpent catch a cold just because he got a little wet?!
That was unacceptable.
Especially when Julian started laughing.
Patience, Winter said to himself. This isn’t the Julian you know.
"You’re funny, child," Julian said while draping the jacket over Winter’s shoulders. "Little kids like you should listen to your big brothers."
Oh.
Now that was something he couldn’t refute.
You’re my big brother, but I don’t want to listen to you right now.
"Are you hungry?" Julian asked, smiling while looking at Winter as if he was satisfied that he was wearing his jacket. "I can ask my servants to bring us food."
Winter wanted to say that he was fine, but he suddenly felt dizzy.
Hmm?
What’s happening to me?
Winter’s vision just suddenly turned blurry as his small body suddenly lost its strength.
Oh, I’m fainting.
"Child!"
***
WELL, I’m still good at provoking my opponents, huh?
Tilly was glad that Yumi seemed to be focused on her.
Despite the great power that the white snake possessed, the white snake still wouldn’t wield the Hellfire properly.
Yumi is only focused on burning me, but she’s not good at aiming.
Tilly, while avoiding Yumi’s Hellfire that turned into hundreds of fireballs, wondered how she could burn the white snake to ashes when the white snake was engulfed with Hellfire.
"Let’s eat the Hellfire!"
Oh, damn.
She almost had a heart attack when her crab mallet talked.
Am I hallucinating or...?
"We can eat that thing!"
Tilly let out a gasp when the crab mallet spoke again. "You can talk?!"
"Hey, it’s not right time for this!"
Right.
Tilly flew upwards when Yumi, still in his gigantic white snake form, started throwing balls of Hellfire at her.
In fairness, the Hellfire looked similar to her Black Flame.
Except for the fact that Hellfire was actually oozing "malice."
Aka all the bad things in the world gathered to be the Devil’s power.
"So, how are we supposed to "eat" Hellfire?" Tilly asked the crab mallet while she was floating in the air, thanks to her flaming wings. "You don’t mean to say that I have to eat it literally, right?"
"Just hit the White Snake with my body, and then prepare yourself for the impact!"
She didn’t have the time or the luxury to ask the talking crab mallet to explain because Yuni suddenly attacked her with its gigantic tail.
Fortunately, she was able to create a wall of black fire that served like a barrier.
And then Tilly flew quickly and landed on top of the White Snake’s head.
Before the White Snake could cover its body with Hellfire, she did what the crab mallet asked her to do earlier.
Here goes nothing.
Tilly used all her strength to hit the White Snake with the crab mallet...
... and then she screamed in pain when Hellfire suddenly burned her to death.
***
"YOU’RE AWAKE?"
Hmm?
Winter immediately got up when he saw the familiar face that he wouldn’t mistake for someone else when he opened his eyes. "Dad!"
Yes, it was his father.
But he forgot that he wasn’t in the right "timeline."
No wonder his father looked stunned.
And then Winter noticed Julian standing behind their father with a shocked look on his face.
Oh, I messed up.
