Chapter 488: Inner Sect Registration.
CHAPTER 488: INNER SECT REGISTRATION.
Arthur took one last look at the inner sect from his position on top of a giant tree before entering the personnel hall constructed on the trunk of the same giant tree.
He sped up to catch up to Elder Storm Hawk and began his tedious registration process. The first of which was swearing another round of oaths promising to protect the secrets and interests of the sect.
Then he had to undergo an interrogation process where he was asked about his background and his ties to others.
He wasn’t beaten or tortured during the interrogation process. They just asked him some questions while monitoring the reaction of the truth artifact to his answers.
The entire interrogation process was to ascertain that he was really who he said he was. Even if he wasn’t an imposter wearing the skin of a disciple of the outer sect named Arthur Red Mane, he still had to prove that he wasn’t a spy and didn’t have ties to suspicious people or groups.
After doing that and passing it with flying colors, he was finally allowed to register as a disciple of the inner sect. For this, he had to pick a daoist name that he would be known by.
He thought long and hard about a daoist name. He wanted to have some time to think about it, but he wasn’t given time to consider a daoist name.
He had to pick one immediately. He felt he was being rushed, but Elder Storm Hawk thought that it was normal.
She said, "If you need so much time to come up with a daoist name, then you really don’t know yourself."
What she said about knowing himself gave him an idea. He looked above her head and saw her fate. Her fate was that of a bluebird.
In his opinion, her fate was truly fitting. He was not surprised to see it, especially its color.
Something else he noticed about her fate was that it was being pushed down by his. The golden fate above his head was suppressing her fate.
This sight inspired him. He decided to go with the daoist name, "Golden Tyrant."
He picked that daoist title because of his golden fate and how it suppresses the fate of others. He thought it was fitting because he had extraordinary strength that made him a tyrant of his peers and elders.
She looked at him with a strange look on her face after he picked that title. She said, "Why did you pick that one? There is nothing golden about you."
He replied, "I don’t have to be golden now to deserve the title. But I want to be golden in the future. I want to aspire to a brighter future."
She scoffed and said, "Even so, calling yourself a tyrant will not do you any favors. Many people will think you’re proud to call yourself that and will instinctively dislike you. Your peers will also not want to call you a tyrant."
He thought about what she said and admitted to her, "You know what? You might have a point."
"How about I call myself Violet Tyrant so that the color will match?"
She snorted before folding her arms across her chest and saying, "Fine. Do whatever you want."
He thought aloud and said, "Or should I use Heavenly Tyrant?"
But then he shook his head and said, "No. That sounds too proud. It will make me seem full of myself."
Elder Storm Hawk didn’t say anything. She only sighed in exasperation.
Arthur ignored her since she was determined not to be helpful. He brainstormed on his own for a few seconds.
Eventually, he settled on something he thought would be more than appropriate.
He said, "I’ve got. I’ll call myself Lightning Tyrant. That should satisfy me and everyone else."
Elder Storm clapped and said sarcastically, "Wow. What a humble and inspired title. How can you come up with such a title without exploding with creative talent?"
He knew she was being sarcastic, but he still replied, "The trick is to remain humble. If I become too proud, all of my talent will go to my head, fill it up, and then explode it."
She rolled her eyes while he went on to register himself as Daoist Lightning Tyrant.
He did really think he deserved that title because, unlike other users of the lightning element who have to be careful with the way they use lightning so that they won’t be assimilated by lightning, he has no qualms.
Because of the wood element and his special foundation, he can use lightning however he wants without paying any cost for it. He is also much stronger than his peers. If that isn’t worthy of being a Lightning Tyrant, he doesn’t know what will be.
After he registered his daoist name into the records of the sect, he was taken to the place to create a soul lamp. The place he was taken to was nearby in the personnel hall, so he didn’t have to go far for it.
The creation of a soul lamp was straightforward. All he needed to do was have his ID activated by the personnel in the hall and mark the activated ID card with his blood.
After doing that, a soul lamp somewhere in the sect lit up and became attached to his life. He didn’t get to see the soul lamp because of secrecy, but he was told that the soul lamp would indicate the state of his existence, whether he was dead or alive.
The soul lamp could also be used to find him if he ever got lost, and a message calling for help could be sent to the sect through the connection between his ID card and the soul lamps.
After finishing this registration, he grumbled a little bit and said, "What’s so special about these soul lamps anyway that we can’t see them?"
He really wanted to see the soul lamps and see how they worked.
