CHAPTER 647: TOO FAST TO TELL.

Before anyone could react, the Ocean of Blades submerged the battlefield and then left. They disappeared as quickly as they appeared. It was as if they had winked out of existence.

The whole thing occurred too fast. Most of the cultivators on the battlefield didn’t sense anything at all and didn’t know what had happened.

Even the nascent soul cultivators who were aware of the ocean of glass blades were still considering whether they had been hallucinating or were confused. This was because the whole thing was too fast.

The ocean of glass blades had come in a flash of light and left after the flash. Their speed made it easy to come to the conclusion that they hadn’t been there at all. But the nascent soul cultivators knew without a doubt that the ocean of glass blades had existed.

Even if they didn’t know what the ocean of glass blades was, and if they weren’t sure about what the ocean of blades had done, they were sure that the ocean of glass blades had existed.

The nascent soul cultivators of the Red and Blue Fire sect in particular were willing to bet their lives on it. This was because they had touched a glass blade.

To be exact, it was the glass blades that touched them. The glass blades brushed against their bodies lightly before disappearing to wherever they came from.

The new nascent soul cultivators of the Ssoed Way sect and the Beast Training sect were confused by what they had just seen. But the older patriarchs of the five sects had a look of dawning understanding on their faces.

On the other side, the patriarchs of the Red and Blue Fire sect had a look of terror and fear in their faces. It was as if they had seen something so terrible that it shocked them to their core and froze them. Then their bodies broke apart.

Only one patriarch of the Red and Blue Fire sect was still alive. This was the leader of the Red and Blue Fire sect. He was still alive because only he hadn’t attacked with his powerful weapon.

The other nascent soul patriarchs had used their rank 6 weapons to attack the wall. They had gone all in because of anger. So when danger arrived, they didn’t have anything on them that could protect them from the glancing blows of so many swords.

The glass swords reached millions in number. They also didn’t target just the nascent soul patriarchs of the Red and Blue Fire sect. They struck everyone in the Red and Blue Fire sect down to the lowest of the low at the second mortal coil.

The second mortal coil cultivators were not on the battlefield when the ocean of glass blades arrived. They were in the heavily fortified base that the Red and Blue fire sect had built opposite the Purple Flower sect.

The base they were in was surrounded by formations and physical defenses that were all at rank 5. This should have protected the people within them, but the ocean of glass blades has flickered and bypassed every defense.

The ocean of glass blades had attacked as if there were no defenses. This led to the death of everyone in the Red and Blue Fire sect except the leader of the sect.

When the leader saw this, his eyes widened in anger, and he roared in pain, "Noooooooooooooo!"

He had a small, round pill rotating around him. This small pill is burning with red and blue fire. It is why he is the only one still alive.

The pill is a pseudo rank 7 weapon. This means that it is a semi-divine weapon. It isn’t a divine power, but it can deal with spatial fluctuations longer than normal rank 6 weapons.

If the other nascent soul patriarchs still had their rank 6 weapons, they too might have survived the attack. But all of the golden core cultivators and everyone else in the sect would surely have died because they lacked rank 6 artifacts.

The leader of the Red and Blue Fire sect realized that everyone in his sect had died. But he still couldn’t reconcile himself with reality.

He cried out, saying, "Why? Why?"

"Why must you do this? You could have sent us away, and we would have left. You didn’t need to do this."

He cried out to the sky and wept. His cry was very emotional. Everyone could sense his great pain and sympathize with him in this great loss.

In response to his question, a man suddenly appeared at the edge of the battlefield. This was the same place that the ocean of glass blades had originated.

The man was transparent and colorless. He looked like a glass statue. But his figure quickly solidified into that of a man with white skin, black tattoos, and black hair with white tattoos on it.

The man was carrying a large sword box behind him. He also held five swords in his hands. These five swords were impaling five phantom objects that looked like they were made from transparent jelly.

The phantom beings had forms similar to slimes. But they were mostly humanoid and very much alive. They were struggling to remove themselves from the sword, but their efforts were in vain.

The man took the five phantom beings from the sword and kept them in a special crystal. The crystal was as small as an egg, while the phantom beings were as big as cows. But the small crystal sucked in the phantom beings on contact and absorbed them completely. The phantom beings wailed in pain as this happened.

Everyone could hear the wails of pain. Their scream was shrill like the sound of a boiling kettle. It also had a spiritual impact that caused even the golden core cultivators to wince in pain after hearing it.

After the five phantom beings were put in the crystals, the crystals were stored in a space ring. The five swords in the man’s hand had flickered and become transparent like glass.
