In the conference room, the heads of each department were reporting last quarter’s work summary.
Ye Xinluo sat on the side, taking notes.
Previously, Mo Han would always sit next to her during meetings, but today, probably to avoid awkwardness, he chose to sit across from Ye Xinluo.
They didn’t pay much attention to each other, as these things are best left unspoken; mentioning it would only make it more awkward.
The meeting lasted forty minutes. After it ended, Ye Xinluo packed up her notes and followed Beichen Rui out of the conference room.
Returning to the office, just about to continue working, Beichen Rui’s voice rang out, "There’s a dinner tonight, you’re coming with me."
Ye Xinluo was startled, nodded, and said, "Okay." She returned to her seat to continue working after speaking.
...
At five in the afternoon, Beichen Rui came out of the office on time. Upon seeing him, Ye Xinluo resignedly picked up her bag and followed him out of the company.
She had already informed Lan Shan earlier that she wouldn’t be able to have dinner with her today, and Lan Shan understood.
Once the elevator doors closed, Mo Han emerged from the corner, staring blankly in the direction of the elevator.
"Wow, I’m sensing heartache from a thousand miles away," Lan Shan’s voice sounded behind him. Coming back to his senses, he glanced at her.
"What are you doing? Walking without a sound."
"Who can you blame for being so focused?" Lan Shan laughed and said. "Assistant Mo, seeing how pitiful you are, why don’t I make a little sacrifice and be with you."
Mo Han gave her a sidelong glance, knowing she was joking, and said, "Get lost, I’m not comforted at all."
Lan Shan chuckled, "Why cling to one flower when there are so many to choose from?"
"Can’t you stop hitting me where it hurts?" Mo Han said grumpily.
"Alright, I won’t tease you anymore. Seeing how pitiful you are, I’ll buy you a drink. Want to come?"
"Let’s skip it today, next time. I have something to do tonight." Mo Han smiled as he declined.
"Alright then, I’ll head home first. Bye-bye." With that, she left the company without looking back.
...
Beichen Rui and Ye Xinluo arrived at a private room in the Huangge Hotel, where the room was already filled with people.
Ye Xinluo hadn’t met any of them before, so once seated, she just quietly ate and said nothing.
A few executives wanted to drink with her, but with Beichen Rui present, they refrained from saying much.
Thus, Ye Xinluo ended up having a hearty meal.
Two hours later, Ye Xinluo rubbed her rounded belly and followed Beichen Rui into the car.
Observing her satisfied look, Beichen Rui curled his lips into a smile and said, "Such an appetite?"
Ye Xinluo was taken aback, thinking back, indeed, she had eaten quite a bit. She smiled awkwardly, "The workload’s been a bit heavy lately."
"Not fully recovered yet?" Beichen Rui said, hinting at something. Initially, she didn’t get it, but under his suggestive gaze, she gradually understood his implication.
Her face flushed red to the ears, she turned her head to the side, ignoring him.
Beichen Rui controlled the steering wheel, eyes straight ahead, "Where do you live?"
Ye Xinluo pressed her lips together but eventually said, "Marine Garden."
Beichen Rui paused, subtly changed the route, and drove towards the place she mentioned.
When they reached the destination, Ye Xinluo thanked him and was about to open the door to get out.
After a few attempts, she couldn’t open the door, turned to him, and asked, "Anything else, President?"
Beichen Rui curled his lips into a smile and said, "You plan to leave just like that?"
