CHAPTER 245: CHAPTER 248: RETURNING TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNER

Back when Ye Xinluo discovered she was pregnant, she only thought of leaving this place as soon as possible, forgetting to take her bracelet with her.

It wasn’t until she reached America that she remembered it, thinking she would never find it again, only to find it with Lan Shan unexpectedly.

Lan Shan patted her back to comfort her, "When you suddenly left back then, I found it in your closet."

Back then, Lan Shan and Ye Xinluo were at the same university, in the same dorm. After Ye Xinluo left, a new student moved into the dorm, so Lan Shan packed up her things.

While tidying Ye Xinluo’s locker, she found the bracelet and, thinking it might be important to Xinluo, took it home and kept it.

After Ye Xinluo returned to the country, she also didn’t remember it until a few days ago when she accidentally came across it while cleaning the house.

Ye Xinluo hugged her for quite a while before letting go.

Wiping the tears from the corner of her eye, she smiled and said, "Shanshan, thank you."

Lan Shan waved her hand, "Alright, you’ve said it several times; I’m almost tired of hearing it. Now that the item has returned to its owner, don’t cry anymore, it’s so unsightly."

Though she spoke disdainfully, her eyes were full of laughter.

"Really, thank you. How about I treat you to a meal?" Ye Xinluo suggested.

Lan Shan sat on the sofa, tilted her head in thought, then said, "No need. By the way, is this thing important to you?"

Ye Xinluo lowered her eyes, pulling out a bitter smile, "This thing might be related to my background."

Upon hearing this, Lan Shan also furrowed her brows. Although she had a good relationship with Ye Xinluo, she didn’t know much about her identity.

Perhaps Ye Xinluo didn’t want to talk about it, and she never asked, because she could feel that these matters were a scar in Xinluo’s heart, and asking would undoubtedly be rubbing salt into the wound.

Ye Xinluo sat down next to her, smiled, and said, "From as far back as I can remember, this bracelet has been with me. I don’t know what happened before, and I don’t know my own name, there’s just this item. Perhaps, this bracelet is something my parents gave me."

Lan Shan gently patted her shoulder, comfortingly saying, "Don’t be upset. Since they don’t want you, let’s see it in a positive light. Look, you have little Jingxi now, how wonderful. It’s their loss that they aren’t looking for you, and they will regret it in the future."

"Mm." Ye Xinluo nodded. Lan Shan was right. She has little Jingxi now and a best friend like Lan Shan by her side. Since her biological parents don’t care about her, why should she dwell on it?

But, can she really let go?

The melancholy in her eyes grew stronger and stronger until, suddenly, Lan Shan reached out, pulled her to lean on her shoulder.

"Xinluo, let’s look to the future, because there is a long road ahead. We should focus on what’s in front and face them with our most successful stance, letting them know that abandoning you was a mistake, instead of deceiving ourselves here."

"Mm." Ye Xinluo replied softly with her eyes closed. She didn’t know how much time passed, her mind a haze, before she unknowingly fell asleep.

When she woke up again, Lan Shan was nowhere to be seen. She was lying on the sofa, covered with a blanket.

Rubbing her slightly aching forehead, she placed the blanket aside, stood up, and walked out of the room.
