CHAPTER 128: CHAPTER 128: WHY DON’T WE PRAY TOGETHER?

"Enough! Stop wasting time and get in the car!"

"Yes, Mrs. Wilson."

Seeing how determined she was, Ashton couldn’t help but feel relieved for his boss.

Mrs. Wilson was clearly worried about Mr. Wilson.

It seemed Mrs. Wilson still had feelings for Mr. Wilson.

Ashton’s thoughts wandered as he rushed to the driver’s seat.

He started the engine.

"Sit tight, Mrs. Wilson. We’re off!"

Chantelle fastened her seatbelt.

Then, realization came in.

"Um, Mr. Wright, your boss and I are no longer a couple. Can you stop calling me Mrs. Wilson?"

"Sure, Mrs. Wilson."

Chantelle pressed a hand to her forehead, speechless. She glanced at Ashton, who was blushing, but held back her response.

Never mind. Finding Daniel was more important.

Since he went to face danger without Ashton, he must have kept his electronic devices on.

Chantelle reached for her phone, only to remember she had dropped it when she passed out.

Feeling awkward, she slowly pulled her hand back.

Ashton noticed it and he quickly reached into the glove box. He took out a phone and gently placed it in her hand.

"Mrs. Wilson, Mr. Wilson got this for you. He said you might want to call Kane once you were safe. You can use it."

Chantelle stared at the phone, dumbstruck.

Daniel, that bastard, was becoming more of a mystery.

He had been cold and arrogant when he took Kane. Yet now, he was letting her contact Kane, even telling her where he was. On top of that, he was willing to give up his entire inheritance to a lunatic like Lone Wolf.

Chantelle was annoyed at the thought.

By all logic, Daniel should hate her. He should be punishing her for taking the children away.

But everything he did showed the opposite.

He was protecting her.

Why?

Chantelle had no answer.

After a moment of hesitation, she unlocked the phone and dialed Daniel’s number.

A black SUV sped up the winding road of Brittin Memorial Garden, stopping in front of the hilltop church.

As the door opened, Daniel stepped out and his slender leg touched the ground first.

He wore a dark gray suit under a long wool overcoat. The outfit emphasized his cold elegance.

His deep eyes flickered with a sharp glint as he strode into the church.

A man knelt on the church floor, deeply absorbed in prayer.

Daniel approached him but didn’t interrupt. He took a seat behind him, waiting in silence.

A minute later, the man stood up and turned around. Instantly, a wicked grin spread across his face.

He no longer looked like a devoted worshiper. Instead, he resembled a madman who had just crawled out of hell.

"Since you’re here, why don’t we pray together, Mr. Wilson?"

"You pray so passionately. Does your God know you’re a killer?"

"Mr. Wilson, with God as my witness, I have my gentle moments when I kill. Don’t you agree?"

Lone Wolf flashed an exaggerated smile before suddenly closing the gap between them.

He stood at eye level with Daniel and their faces were inches apart.

He expected to catch a hint of fear from a man as untouchable as Daniel.

But it was a waste of effort.

Daniel remained calm, seeing Lone Wolf’s antics as almost a childish act.

"Aren’t you tired of playing the same game after all these years?"

"Didn’t you notice I’ve improved? Wasn’t that a nice surprise?" Lone Wolf countered.

"ME-3, the latest invisibility cloak, works well."

"Oops, you caught me up. It’s the newest gear from my organization. What do you think?"

"It’s exactly what I’d expect from a Wilson creation."

"Huh?" Lone Wolf was stunned.

But he quickly brushed it off.

This time, he wasn’t joking. For once, he was serious.

"I didn’t know the Wilsons were involved in high-tech research and development."

Daniel’s cold eyes fixed on him. The air became heavy as a deadly tension rose.

"Lone Wolf, the Wilsons are not the same family they were five years ago. By now, you should know better than to target my people on my territory."

Daniel’s tone was calm, but his presence carried undeniable authority.

Standing in God’s house, he looked more like a ruler than a mere businessman.

"Why so serious?" Lone Wolf chuckled, faking his calmness. "We’re old friends. We can talk. Your presence here means you’re ready to trade. Did you bring the contract?"

He smiled, trying to lighten the mood, but Daniel’s bloodthirsty glare only intensified.

"I found Chantelle."

"Oh?" Lone Wolf smirked, keeping his tone playful. "How’s the pretty lady? Still breathing?"

On the surface, he acted cool, but deep down, he was disappointed.

He knew Daniel would find Chantelle eventually, but he hadn’t expected it to happen so fast.

A miscalculation.

"Now that I have the upper hand, forget about getting Wilson Group of Companies shares," Daniel said coldly. "But if you tell me who your client is, I might consider giving back Lone Fox to you."

"Mr. Wilson, I told you—I’m a man of principles. I will never betray my client."

"In that case, I’m sorry it has to be this way," Daniel said, raising his hand.

The doors opened, and the bodyguards dragged in an unconscious Lone Fox.

"Since we’re old friends, I’ll let you see him one last time."

For once, Lone Wolf’s carefree mask crumbled. Seeing his brother pale and almost lifeless sent a chill through him.

"What is your game, Daniel?"

"Give me the name of your client, or watch Lone Fox die."

"You don’t come to Easthan often, so you might not know the area well. There’s a cliff a mile behind the church with a breathtaking view. A fall from there would be fatal."

As Lone Wolf hesitated, Daniel calmly laid out the facts.

"Do you think I won’t hunt you down if you kill Lone Fox?" Lone Wolf stared directly into Daniel’s eyes like a vicious beast.

"You won’t. If you retaliate, I’ll make sure it’s a family reunion in hell for both of you."

At that moment, archers hidden on the church roof revealed themselves. Bows drawn, arrows aimed, and they are waiting for Daniel’s command.

Lone Wolf let out a sharp laugh. "Ha! Do you really think these people can stop me?"
