CHAPTER 309: CHAPTER 309: PLEASE SAVE HIM

Meanwhile, Philip rolled his eyes when he saw Daniel smiling like a fool. Just moments ago, Daniel was furious because Philip had woken him up.

"Daniel, your brain stops working whenever Chantie’s involved. You look ridiculous, you know."

"You better shut your mouth if you don’t want to be transferred and work in the mining lab overseas." Daniel put his phone away, and the smile on his face disappeared.

"Of course not!" Philip quickly waved his hands and grinned sheepishly. Then, he added, "The antidote is only in Trenton’s lab. What are we going to do now?"

"We borrow it. If we can’t borrow, we buy it. If we can’t buy it, we steal it. If stealing fails, we rob the lab. And if that doesn’t work, we blow the whole place up," Daniel said, clenching his teeth.

He was now sure that Trenton was the one who put that poison inside Chantelle’s body.

He kept thinking about Trenton’s connection with Lone Wolf.

Why would Lone Wolf poison Chantelle again and again just to follow Trenton’s orders?

Philip gave a casual shrug. He knew Daniel always did everything to get what he wanted. Whoever Trenton was, he’d still have to bow to him.

And honestly, blowing up Trenton’s lab didn’t sound like a bad idea.

Trenton might have a high-tech lab, but he used it for the wrong reasons.

The medicine Philip was working on could ease Chantelle’s symptoms for now, but it wasn’t a real cure. The best plan was to steal the antidote from Trenton and then destroy his lab for good.

Meanwhile, as Nancy sat in the car, she thought hard about what Chantelle had said. She didn’t tell the driver to take her back to the Morgan house or the Trench residence. Instead, she asked to be dropped off at an apartment complex farther away.

When she got there, she saw a young man stepping out of a taxi. He was walking slowly toward the gate, looking so depressed.

The moment she saw him, tears filled her eyes.

When he turned around and saw her, he rushed over and pulled her into a tight embrace.

"Nancy! You’re finally here to see me!"

"I told you to leave the country! Why didn’t you go?" Nancy cried as she hit his chest over and over.

The young man didn’t say anything. He just picked her up gently, carrying her like a bride. He felt so much pain when he saw the bruises on her body.

The driver quickly called Chantelle. "Ms. Chantelle, Nancy has a secret lover."

"Look into him," Chantelle replied, glancing at Calvin. This made things much simpler.

The young man led Nancy into his apartment and carefully treated her wounds. "We should go to the hospital," he said.

"No, I can’t go to the hospital right now," Nancy said and slowly shook her head as her mind drifted away.

The young man held her hand carefully, saying, "Tell me what happened, Nancy."

"Brian’s mistress is trying to take my place in the Morgan family. I went missing for a whole day, and no one from that family called the police!"

"That bastard! I’ll kill him!" The young man jumped to his feet, furious. He won’t allow anyone to hurt her.

Nancy grabbed his arm and pulled him back. "We can’t be reckless. There’s no proof yet. I can’t do anything without any evidence."

"Then what are you planning to do, Nancy?" he asked, deeply frowning.

The fear on Nancy’s face faded and fierce glare passed through her eyes.

"If that’s how the Morgans treat me, then I won’t hold back anymore. I want Brian dead. And I’ll take down Morgan Corp with him."

Even though things had gone bad between Nancy and Brian, her in-laws always treated her like their own daughter.

Nancy lost her parents when she was young, so she saw Brian’s parents as her own. She stayed in the Morgan house to take care of them.

She never let herself be drawn to this young man. Her conscience wouldn’t allow her to betray her in-laws. That’s why she kept rejecting his feelings and even tried to send him overseas.

But now, she realized the truth that they had only used her. And she had been too blind to see it.

"I’ll do whatever you want, Nancy," the young man said, holding her tightly.

Suddenly, thick smoke started pouring out from the bedroom.

Sensing something was wrong, Nancy stopped the young man from going out to check it. Instead, she rushed to the front door.

But the door wouldn’t open. It had been locked from the outside.

"It’s them! They found me!" Nancy cried out, grabbing the young man’s arm in panic.

No one was supposed to know she had an apartment here.

Did the driver from earlier sell her out?

No, that can’t be. Chantelle wanted me to agree to her deal. It doesn’t make sense for her to save me just to have me killed. Nancy thought silently to herself.

"Step aside, Nancy. I’ll break the lock." The young man came back from the kitchen holding a cleaver.

But the fire in the bedroom was spreading fast. It had already reached the living room.

"I can’t breathe! Get to the window!" Nancy pulled him toward it, but the window was locked too.

The young man slapped his forehead. "This is my fault! None of this would’ve happened if I hadn’t upgraded the security system!"

He suspected someone had hacked into the system and used the robot in the bedroom to start the fire.

"Don’t say that. I don’t blame you." Nancy cupped the young man’s cheeks and kissed him softly.

If this is how I die... then I guess I’ll just come back and haunt the Morgan family, she thought.

She was about to close her eyes and give in to the smoke when suddenly, the window shattered with a loud crash.

A figure leaped in and quickly strapped a safety harness around her waist.

"Ms. Chantelle?" Nancy gasped, covering her mouth in shock.

"We meet again, Ms. Trench. I hope our deal turns out well for both of us," Chantelle said with a wink.

She wrapped her arms around Nancy and got ready to jump out the window.

"Wait, Ms. Chantelle! Please save him..." Nancy begged and she refused to let go of the young man’s hand.

The young man gently pushed her hand away. "You should go, Nancy. Don’t worry about me."

"Okay. Someone will be here to get you," Chantelle interrupted them to break the sad moment.

"You’re so boring, Chantie," a childish voice complained from outside.

Chantelle had already jumped out the window with Nancy in her arms.

"Follow up, Li’l Sixteen!" she called out.
