CHAPTER 104: 104. NEXT TIME UNCLE MO LOSES HIS TEMPER AT YOU, JUST RUN AWAY FROM HOME.

Sophie Foster put down her glass and stuck out her tiny tongue to lick her lips.

"Miss Beauty, didn’t Felix tell you? I’m the resident singer at this nightclub; I have to come here to work every night."

"Resident singer?" Mia Foster repeated, her face showing surprise and a hint of disappointment in her heart. Seeing how Titus Zane was so indifferent, he must have known that Sophie was working here, and as for Felix Shaw...

Their relationship hadn’t become as tense as that between Nathan Moore and Titus Zane, but he hadn’t told her anything.

Mia Foster turned to look at Titus Zane beside her, who was lowering his gaze, bored, swirling his glass, seemingly weighed down by thoughts.

Mia Foster suddenly saw the light; there was no hatred or barrier between her and Felix Shaw, but only a lack of time spent together. She believed that with a year or half, she could win Felix Shaw over little by little.

However, as it turned out later, Mia Foster’s imagined future was too good to be true. If a man’s heart resides elsewhere, no matter how much you give, it’s all in vain.

"Titus, how come you’ve lost weight so fast? That’s not the way to diet," Mia joked as she grasped Titus’s wrist.

Deep down, she knew that Titus’s weight loss must have something to do with Nathan Moore.

"That’s right, I meant to say this just now!" Sophie, holding a wineglass, took a sip and looked over Mia Foster at Titus Zane.

"Is it that bad man Nathan who hassled you? Tell me, and I’ll have Chu deal with him!"

Titus Zane faintly curved his lips into a shallow smile.

"No, it’s my own issue."

"How can that be! That beastly Nathan!" Sophie slammed her hand on the bar, about to blurt out but then she seemed to remember something, quickly covered her mouth and shrank her neck, laughing a bit embarrassedly.

"Sorry, I didn’t mean to curse Nathan."

When she would complain about Nathan to Chu, Chu would often lecture her, saying a couple owes each other grace for days spent together; only the people involved truly know their own family matters. Perhaps the reason the fairy-like senior sister hasn’t left is that she has fallen in love with Nathan, so Sophie shouldn’t curse him as a beast in front of her – she would be unhappy.

Titus Zane pretended not to hear Sophie’s swear, his lips curling lightly, "Why apologize? You didn’t say anything."

"Oh, well then." While she couldn’t berate Nathan directly, she could still talk behind his back, and since Chu wasn’t there, Sophie leaned halfway over Mia Foster to get closer to Titus, her heavily made-up little face serious.

"Actually, I wanted to tell you, next time Nathan loses his temper, just run away from home and make him worry. That way he won’t dare treat you like that again."

Titus Zane slightly curved his lips, his lowered gaze hiding his emotions well.

"Okay, I’ll try it next time."

If she truly could leave, she would go without a backward glance, not using it merely as a threat against him.

Mia Foster, being more mature in her thinking than Sophie Foster and experienced in the business world, was adept at reading people, so she clearly saw the loss and helplessness in Titus Zane’s eyes.

To lighten the mood, she purposely changed the subject.

"Sophie, do your parents support you singing here?" A cultured woman speaks more subtly.

When her parents were mentioned, Sophie Foster’s eyes flickered for a moment, she turned her head and propped her elbow on the bar, her gaze dimming.

"My parents are dead."

Most people would use "no longer here" or "passed away" after their parents are gone, but Sophie used the word "dead," whether due to her genuinely low level of education or if she deliberately emphasized the word "dead."

The atmosphere suddenly became a bit awkward.

Titus Zane also looked up at Sophie Foster, knowing a bit about her but never having known that she... was an orphan.

Mia Foster licked her lips and said, "I’m sorry, I didn’t know..."

"It’s okay, they died many years ago, I’m not sad," Sophie Foster said, turning a smile to Mia Foster, and then took a slight sip of her liquor.

But both Titus Zane and Mia Foster could see Sophie Foster was smiling reluctantly.
